A hotel that combines the best of Kyoto's stylish culture and Britain's traditional heritage. The design is based on the arts and crafts of Scotland, particularly Edinburgh, its ancient capital. In fact Kyoto and Edinburgh are not only sister cities in name, but they also share many traits such as the lively street atmosphere and traditional culture. This hotel expresses the relationship between the two cities through its traditional architecture and warm atmosphere.

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.

The room was cosy enough for the both of us, and was pretty comfortable despite its size. Claustrophobes might beg to differ but we quite enjoyed our stay. The fridge wasn't particularly efficient in chilling our convenience store treats but that's about it for our issues. The

Good sized rooms, good location accessible by subway. There are cafes that lined the street, coffee places and convenient stores. The hotel lobby is decorated in an English style. There is a wedding hall and a restaurant in the street level. The staff were helpful and

My family and I stayed here for 3 nights as recommended by our Inside Japan travel agency. It is just a few minutes walk from the subway station (3 stops from Kyoto Station), so super convenient. It has a mini mart convenience store across the street plus a Starbucks etc.
