Neighborhood
Pontocho
Though small by comparison, Pontocho is one of Kyoto's most spirited and memorable neighborhoods. A narrow street straddling the Kamogawa River, it is Kyoto's busiest nightlife spot. When darkness falls, Pontocho's many signs and lanterns bolt to life, making the area glow with invitations to passers-by to come inside and pull up a chair. Its restaurants and bars sprawl onto the riverbank, providing a friendly atmosphere and delicious food. Verandas are always filled with people young and old crowding tables, biting into hot yakitori or sipping cold beers. It is a culinary heart of Kyoto as much as one of its most laid-back, clamorous, and entertaining evening hotspots. Pontocho has more of an amiable vibrancy to it than an elegant one, attracting newcomers, local veterans, and everyone in between, in casual attire like sneakers and jeans.

Love that this is a relatively new hotel, so the room set-up exhibits an efficient way in maximizing a small space. I really like Japanese hotels that separates the toilet from the shower/tub area. It just makes the stay more pleasant. I also like its proximity to the

A new hotel, situated in a great part of Kyoto, near the shopping arcades, stores, restaurants and canal walk, plus the tourist office round the corner. Lovely spacious room, huge comfortable bed, great bathroom with separate toilet and shower room with bath. Very helpful and

This hotel was great! Close to a busy Main Street but didn’t hear much street noise. Hotel was clean and spacious. We were 5 mins walking from nishiki market. Free coffee/tea in the lobby. Staff spoke English well. Would definitely stay here again.

Dear Jeff K, Thank you for choosing to stay with Cross Hotel Kyoto and for your fantastic review. It is such a pleasure to know you enjoyed our prime location and that you had a great time in Kyoto. We are particularly delighted that our concierge team took great care of you which resulted in a wonderful experience for you. They are a group of professionals who take pride in delivering the best service to our guests so it is great to hear that you found them very helpful. As you mentioned, the hotel is next to the Takase River which is famous for its cherry blossoms. There are about 200 cherry trees planted alongside the river extending for 1km. The opening of the first blossoms was officially announced in Kyoto on March 27 this year, and the cherry trees in front of the hotel were in bloom until recently, creating a beautiful and magical sight. We hope you were able to enjoy it during your stay. Thank you again for your lovely comment. We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to our hotel soon. Kind regards, Cross Hotel Kyoto

Cross hotel has a laundry service, but we found the service did not meet our needs for a couple of reasons. The turn around time was greater than our want. Additionally, the cost of the service we felt pricey. We did find a nice coin operated Landry mat a short distance away that served our needs. We did laundry and drying within an hour.

Hello Do you have parking lot or parking arrangements nearby? Thank you
hi am trying to remember..we had 2A a 13 & 7 ...there was a single for the 13 yr old and then there were 2 almost double beds which we pushed together and the 3 of us slept in that,,,I don't think you can fit anymore beds in that room (we had the deluxe family also) unless they have some other configurations I would ask them (via email or phone) the exact beds in the room. The separate toilet was great to have. But a fantastic location if you can make it work.
