【180 th Anniversary Greeting】Thank you for favoring us for so many years Izuyasu have reached its 180th anniversary in 2019. We thank our 650,000 guests who have visited us since inauguration. It wasn’t easy for us to do business in Kyoto, We were established in the year of starvation in 1839, followed by the Meiji Restoration, the Pacific war, burst of Japan’s economic bubble, and the Bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers. We respect our ancestors who worked through those difficulties, and at the same time, we would like to thank our guests for supporting us during those times. We believe it is our role to create a space for the people from around the world of all ages to gather and communicate through our cultures. There are still much more to work on, but we would like to continue develop through the following years to expand our food, decorations and services. Please keep us, including the staffs and our family in favor through the coming year. IZUYASU

Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.

Izuyasu exceeded our expectations. We loved the beautiful & comfortable room together with our traditional Japanese clothing that we got to wear. Having a private Onsen together was a relaxing way to wind down the afternoon. but the highlight was our traditional dinner prepared

As a traditional ryokan we were surprised by the think mattress that could not be rolled. It was very confortable but also very cumbersome in the small room. We were ready for a more traditional folding :-) Everything was clean and confortable, we enjoyed the bath and hight

We stayed in this Traditional Inn on our final night in Kyoto as a way of experiencing a Ryokan. The look and feel of the building, and especially the room, was exactly what we were after. We also enjoyed the traditional outfits. However, the centrepiece of the stay was a seven
