Certificate of Excellence
Enjoy our hotel's modern Japanese design as you explore the historic capital. We are located in the heart of Kyoto, with easy access to all major tourist destinations. Step outside and it's only a short walk to Nijo Castle or Yasaka Shrine. Step inside and take in an undeniably Japanese, yet modern, decor. Perhaps that's why we've received TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence annually since 2011.

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.

We can send the luggage to the hotel dan from the hotel to the airport too. If have you have many luggage (like us) it's very helpful. Because we want to go to Osaka too without bring so many luggage. Near the hotel have many mini market like Family Mart and good restaurants too. We stay for 2 nights and have a good nights sleep. Less than 1 km from the nearest station. If want to go to Gion you can take the bus and very near from the hotel only 10 minutes (i guess). We walk from Gion to the hotel and enjoy the crowd, the shops and the atmosphere. We book triple beds for our 2 adults and 2 kids (only 1 room each floor for this kind of room). The bed is comfort to sleep during our stay. Thank you

Hello! We stayed 2 weeks from 28 feb - 13 March. Everyone from the staff is really friendly. The room was cleaned every day. The staff even helped us to book the transfer back to the airport, in japanese. Thank you!!! If you smoke, the only downside is that you have to go downstairs to the back exit of the hotel to smoke. I really enjoyed the time spent at the hotel, will definitely come back here next time. See you next time. Sayonara!

We arrived at this hotel at night catching the bullet train from Kyoto. Getting to the hotel from Kyoto station was quite a challenge we walked most of the way as we could not figure out how to get there from Tokyo station to the nearest station next to the hotel. The room itself was very clean but really small and the bathrooms were clean but outdated. There is a station close to the hotel and laundry facilities which we used. Overall for the priced we paid it was not a bad hotel but next time we would stay to in a hotel close to Kyoto station.

Dear Sir or Madam, Thank you for staying at Hotel Mystays Kyoto Shijo. We are sorry to disappoint you with the size of the room. Standard room type, all double and queen room are 19㎡ so almost guest feel a small but another room type like superior twin is bigger than those room. If there is an opportunity, please try to stay in those room type. We think you like those room! Best regards,

The hotel is about three blocks from the train station and this can be a bit tiring with large luggage. But once you reach the building and head to Reception on the first floor, you will be pleased by the fast and attentive service from staff. We liked our room for being modern and a decent size for a city hotel. They provide a complimentary smartphone but we didn't need it. The free hot beverages on the other hand were welcomed. The buffet lunch in the restaurant on the ground floor is really good value. Tips: Use the bus service as much as possible in Kyoto but still expect to walk a lot. Everyone is friendly but dinner time can be busy so do make a reservation if you can. Food and shopping is a bit more expensive than Osaka. Kyoto is larger than expected and many sights will take you out of town and perhaps half a day to fully enjoy. Any festival is fun to be a part of.

MyStays is a small mid range hotel. It was in a convenient location to walk to some of the attractions, Nijo-jo Castle, Kyoto Park, the Imperial Palace to name a few.... There are lots of restaurants and cafes and shopping even though it is not in the central area of Kyoto. If catching the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto and changing to the metro, be aware of which station is closest to your accommodation. There are only two lifts and no stair access.
