Neighborhood
Nishijin District
A district with a long textile heritage, ancient Kyoto is still alive in the Nishijin District. Studded with its weaving factories, tea houses, and onsen, the neighborhood is charming and peaceful with a self-possessed air. Less traveled than other parts of the city, it is a district where you can take it at your own pace. Visitors can explore the many weaving and cloth houses, the free kimono shows, and the many shops selling traditional clothing and goods. Showcasing architecture with sloping roofs and wooden reliefs dating to decades past, the streets in the Nishijin District transport you back in time, making them a joy to wander.

This is a spectacular boutique hotel with amazing staff. The whole experience was restorative and a lovely place to recharge. The room was absolutely lovely and the bath was one of the greatest facilities in a hotel I have ever seen. The staff we happy to help with any questions we had and worked hard to accomodate any request we had which we really appreciated.

My daughter and I had a wonderful time staying at Junei Hotel. The rooms were clean, quiet and the bath was out of this world! It was such an easy place to relax. The location was near Nijo Castle Ana the bus stop was less than a minute’a walk from where we were staying so it was easy to get around. What made the stay here exceptional was the staff. They were friendly and helpful and catered to our every need. They went out of their way to help us and all the little extra things they did for us such as making origami cranes using paper with our countries’ flags on it to just sharing their local knowledge, made our visit here just that extra bit special.

The staff of this small hotel were very helpful and enthusiastic. When we arrived very late at a raining night, and the taxi driver had a problem to find the correct spot, a staff walked out of the hotel from the narrow ally and guided the taxi driver to the correct spot. When we celebrated my daughter's birthday, the hotel offered free soft drink together with the cake we pre-ordered. Even though its a very small hotel located in a quiet small ally, it has a extraordinary service level. It's a good place to stay if you wish to experience a Japanese style of hospitality in Kyoto.

I booked this place with the hopes of being able to recharge and be in a nice environment. That’s exactly what it was. It’s in a great part of town that isn’t overwhelming, but also not too remote. I really enjoyed this stay.
