Lusty Beg Island Resort and Spa is celebrated for its stunning scenery and vibrant atmosphere, complete with live music and a relaxing vibe. While guests appreciate the spacious rooms and impressive views, there is feedback pointing to cleanliness concerns and a need for modernization.
The service garners praise for staff attentiveness, though it can sometimes falter in speed and consistency. Despite the resort's overall cleanliness and dining options, some visitors feel that the value doesn't match the 4-star expectations, with critiques of overpricing and limited amenities.

Lusty Beg with a beautiful spot. Me and my good friend went for two nights stay to get rid of the January Blues. I chose this location because I was recommended by a friend and I came up website Groupon.
Initially the boat ride at the start of the journey was pretty daunting cos if anything ever did happen in the middle of the night like you broke your leg or something you would have this swim across which is not a ideally something I want to think about when I'm in bed. But nothen happened that bad so we're all grand. Walking into to our room from the price that we paid was really worth the money. The Heat and the room was very nice and continued to be like this for our stay. The only thing I could have to say about the stay so far at this point was the style was a bit outdated in the room. At the start of of our stay we asked for a deposit towards the room which is normal for type of accommodation at for. It was about £20 so I transferred it from my card to remind you I said at the time is this towards the room to the man at reception what you agreed to. Not finding out and told the end of the journey that this deposit would have been took off me for me accepting breakfast since it wasn't in the Groupon deal. We initially weren't going to get breakfast on the island but I decided just to ask to see if there was any cheaper since we were staying there. I was told that the breakfast was free with my stay since my name is on the sheet what I was delighted about not knowing later that I would be charged for this what was a bit disheartening. We also took a day in the spa on our second day what was absolutely amazing the staff in the spa where very kind and made our stay that much more special. All in all I would definitely would recommend going to this island but more and better weather wise. I also forgot to say whilst I was talking to the mad at reception I mentioned that my sister was going to consider booking lusty Beg for her reception of a wedding and she already give them an email. He confirmed that the email was responded to saying it would be in her junk mail. For anyone that doesn't know my sister she would be definitely on the ball these things like seriously doesn't let anything past her. Which I told her when I left that the email was responded to and she confirmed that no email was even sent back but yeah so she sent another... yup

Response from NinaK3575, Director of Sales at Lusty Beg Island Resort and Spa
Responded Jan 26, 2020
Dear ClaireDaBear, Thank you for reviewing your stay at Lusty beg Island resort and Spa. A couple of things that are perhaps a bit misleading for any other guest arriving at Lusty Beg Island. The boat runs on demand, you would have been given an emergency number at check in should you have an accident and need to depart the island at any time of the day or night - for health and safety we will never ask anyone to swim! Also, I would just like to clarify, if you book on a room only basis, breakfast will not be included in your rate, so therefore if you availed of the breakfast offering you would of course have to pay for it. I am delighted you enjoyed your time with on the Island. Best wishes Nina

I stayed in Lustybeg for 2 nights with my teenage children and my husband. Food very average but most surprisingly the inflexibility of the chef if requested any slight change from menu, one of us asked for cheese on the chicken burger and were told that we would have to pay extra! 3 of us had steaks on the last night, we asked for chips instead of the mashed potato, told that we would have to pay extra, 3.50 per portion!
The rooms on arrival were relatively clean, however lights not working in my children’s room, broken window latch in our room. Maintenance were called to fix the lights but told the kids that they had run out of bulbs on the property!
Cleaning the next day of the rooms was extremely poor, our room half cleaned, the kids not cleaned at all, I complained to reception, eventually they sent a cleaner down to the room who challenged the children on arrival as to ‘what was the problem with the room’, my daughter was very intimidated by her. The rooms in general are run down and I would question the cleanliness of the overall hotel which is more important now than ever before.
I have to call out the staff though as all we came across in the bar, spa, activities and restaurant were extremely helpful and friendly at all times.

We thoroughly enjoyed a weekend at Lusty Beg, accommodation fantastic, weather so so hot and all looked so picturesque. However we did not feel safe on the island. At breakfast everyone was touching the coffee, juice containers and toasters. We had spent few days on North Coast before arriving in LB and rule was everything was brought to table and all staff wore masks, while in LB none did. Same concerns if eating outside, self service where cutlery is taken out of same containers as everyone else.
Large queues at bar areas didn't help with social distancing. The queues were long as staff, who were so patient and indeed courteous and friendly, were simply overwhelmed as there was not enough of them. It is also one of the very places I have been recently where there is no screen between barmen and customers.
Confusion reigned re menus and costs - some staff took orders for food off the bar menu to eat outside, other staff said no, could only eat of the cut-down shack menu outside - all a bit bizarre as all food came from same kitchen. We had the same breakfast on 2 mornings with a £14 difference in cost, I believe we were overcharged on Day 1.
Like other recent reviews, LB is a fantastic spot, with massive potential, but i do believe someone needs to get their act together in terms of COVID 19 precautions, before its too late.

Staff gave wrong directions to the 6 berth house we'd booked, totally inadequate lighting to find the correct house, had to go around doors with a torch to find correct house. Over 6 light bulbs blown throughout house, not to mention the stove door was broken with the sealing fire rope missing from stove door, cobwebs hanging from most corners of every room, they had supplied 2 bath towels for 6 people and when we asked for more we had to report to reception and collect more towels in person. Decking was like a skating rink without any mesh for grip, only one bin bag provided for a self catering house for a weekend for 6 people, only one dishwasher tablet was provided and there was no other soap provided to wash dishes by hand so I've no idea how we were supposed to wash any dishes for the rest of the weekend. We had thought to bring an expensive saucepan from home to cook breakfast for our 4 other friends that joined us for my wife's 50th birthday celebrations in January at lusty beg and as of yet I still haven't had a reply if they'd found the saucepan, the swimming pool wasn't available and likewise the spa treatments were also not available, something staff also failed to mention when we booked almost 6 months in advance To sum up, for what we paid for a weekend and what we got we certainly will not be going back to lusty beg

Firstly, Lusty Beg is absolutely stunning and so quiet which I loved. We booked into a room which was spotless and had everything you need including an iron and ironing board.
The t.v. reception was very poor and when I mention this to reception they implied that they already knew it was an aerial issue and had no intention of fixing it. Personally I think it was due to the weather as the t.v. rectified itself when the weather improved.
The room is actually a room in a terrace of houses and the entrance door led outside. It looked like a front door of a house and had a small window in it. As a result I didn't get a wink of sleep as the light from the street lights outside and then the sun shone in all night. Could be easily fixed with a small curtain.
Food was average but what was available for breakfast was not worth the £9.95. If going again I would book self catering.

Everything was really clean in the room and en-suite.
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Food was delicious and portions are large with a great value for money, lovely cooked breakfast with a range of other items: cereal, fruit, bread and drinks.
Music was fun and the guests seemed to interact well. The massage treatments, pool and sauna were extremely good and we met very welcoming staff and guests to add to the SPA experience.
A sheltered area for those who smoke would be a positive addition and whilst there are some bins around the bar and reception, more bins around the accommodation areas to put butts into for those smoking outside their rooms and walking about would be beneficial.
Overall a brilliant, inclusive, relaxing place to be and we plan to be back with other family members and our dogs.

I never feel the need to leave a review that is negative as i find it unhelpful, however I was so so disappointment in this stay I felt necessary I do. The Night porter Had to open our room in the evening as I misplaced my key (which I was later charged £10 for). He said our room had a noise complaint, but we hadn’t been in our room since check in. So I find this extremely dishonest. My husband and I were a couple staying. At the bar and restaurant there were multiple loud and noisy groups, so Am sure he mixed us up, however felt it rude and unprofessional to lie to us that we made noise when as I said we hadn’t been there since checking in at 4pm. The room was so unclean and unkempt and stay was very overpriced. The room had moths in the sink and spiders on the walls. It really was very poor. Friend of ours had booked us a dinner reservation for 8pm however when we arrived at the Restaurant the unhelpful man didn’t have our reservation, despite it being booked earlier in day at reception. The whole experience just was no pleasant. The resort has become really run down and unkempt. There is nowhere near enough staff nor stations to ensure cleanliness is maintained in communal areas. When asking staff if we could eat breakfast outside, we were told yes, only for other staff to say no. It was just very unorganised and a very disappointing stay. Not worth £179 for bed and breakfast at all. Finally on checking out, reception staff were unpleasant and did not even say I hope you enjoyed your stay, nor did they ask how stay was, which I feel was bad customer service.

I stayed here last year with my brother, having availed of one of the special offers advertised online. It was a surprise trip away for my brother to celebrate some good news and when he realised where we were headed, he was as excited as I was! We left much less excited and enthused!
On booking I had ensured my reservation was for a twin room so was disappointed when we checked in to find a double bed, in a very, very small room. I called reception from the room and was told I would need to come to reception to see if they could facilitate my request for a twin room. I was a bit taken aback by the manner in which this was handled, but in hindsight, it was symptomatic of the level of professionalism and helpfulness of the staff. We trekked back to reception and after some waiting around, and some reluctance, were given a "twin" room. This turned out to be probably more of a family room - two double beds in a very large room. Once checked in we decided to head down to the pool and spa to relax for a while. More disappointment awaited us there. Long story short, the pool was so cold we, along with several others, stayed less than 10 minutes and the sauna was, it seemed, not working though there was no sign nor no staff around to tell us this. We looked for the outdoor hot tub we had seen advertised in the brochure in the hotel room but were told by another guest it didn't exist! We left the pool area very disappointed and returned to our room for warm showers. We set off on a walk around the grounds which were nice but it being Ireland, rain wasn't long coming. We decided to go to the bar for dinner. There was a restaurant but we hadn't booked and thought the bar food would suffice. We should have had snacks beforehand! Over 1 hour wait for very simple food (one order was fish and chips) and 3 reminders to the very young (teenage) waiting staff about our drinks. We finished dinner and decided to have a drink at the bar. The teenage staff seemed to be having a great time working and socialising together, the customers secondary to this. Their conversation wasn't really appropriate for a workplace and we returned to our room quite early in the evening. Breakfast the next morning was disappointing and although we arrived with more than 1 hour to go before it finished, we found many items were already finished (bacon and eggs) and weren't replenished.
Anyway, a long story short, the resort is in such a lovely setting and offers so much potential but the quality of service and attitude of staff, from reception right through to breakfast the next day, left a lot to be desired. It would make such an idyllic location for a small wedding or a family break but we would not recommend, not even for a 1 night stay. And I say this as two young adults (aged 20s and early 30s).

Arrived on the island to the beautiful scenery as expected. Was grateful to see measures in place such as a one way system and hand sanitiser in the public areas. Check in didn’t take too long as we went straight down to check out the room. Our room was very small which I thought did not suit the higher price we paid. I felt that some touch ups were necessary on the furnishings as the shower floor was cracked and the wooden panels around the sink were chipped. The shower also didn’t work the following morning until later that afternoon. The curtains had also began to fall off the railings. The sky light in the bathroom was covered in dust alongside cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. We booked for dinner in the restaurant and the menu was quite over priced for what we got. After finishing up for dinner we left to finish our drinks outside and every single table was covered in empty glasses and plates to the point that seagulls had rested on top of the table. It looked slightly understaffed so maybe this was why. We had food in the bar the following night and the food was more reasonably priced with more selection. I thought the staff were very friendly and helpful but the prices we paid was solely for the location. Potentially better suited for staying for a wedding as opposed to a couples break away.

We booked this for a friends wedding after reading some reviews I was unsure what to expect , I am a seasoned traveler so I am used to great hotels , .
On arrival we went to reception I loved the two ladies working on reception a nice friendly welcome not a scripted have a nice day type , they just got the job done in a friendly way.
The rooms were spotless ,simple but not in a disappointing way rustic style with a modern twist on a wooden cabin type of carpentry style .
The shower room must have been recently refurbished extremely clean and right up to date ,we had no issues with towels beautiful white fluffy towels .
The all important beds , they were medium firm crisp white linen , so suited us well.
There was a tv and enough storage for 2 night any more you would struggle .
The mirror is a bit low and I’m not tall !
Nice little seating area and French doors to patio we were in room 57 quiet and peaceful.
The wedding meals were typical wedding food was executed well all arrived warm on heated plates.
The staff were local all so friendly, big shout out to a server I was told was over 90 she kept up with the rest of the team and is an inspiration to us all!
Breakfast was again good local products tasty sausage etc I really don’t get the bad reviews, one thing I would change was the tea , best to do individual teas as it was way to strong and stewed a simple tweak would sort this I asked and received this .
There was a coupe of minor service hiccups with kids just starting but in the current market it’s difficult to get great staff who get it all the time so I don’t get impatient as it’s not life or death !
We had one evening meal in the restaurant I would describe as good pub grub it fits with the resort , if you want fine dining or gourmet don’t expect this , go to a self catering cabin .
Everything was warm and well cooked and the service was good.
The wine list is adequate for most peoples taste and prices were not ridiculous a good Rioja or New Zealand Sauvignon was just over around £20 a bottle .
We were lucky and had continuous sunshine so took some lovely walks including the fairy trail great for children or lovers as there is an engagement tree hint hint to your lover !!
In summary Lusty Beg is cosy not corporate, country not city , not luxurious more rustic .
If you want bowing and scraping service you won’t it’s good honest local folks giving you real down to earth from the heart service be patient with the trainees they are great youngsters and a bit nervous.
Will I be back yes I loved the laid back vibe and you can take your beloved pets

There was one in the superior double room.
Absolutely. Easy 30 min drive. The car ferry (only two cars can fit) is fun and sets the tone for a fantastic stay.
