curently allows (and also welcomes) foreigners Jacky's guest house is definitely my #1 choice for Yuanyang. First of all, he was extremely friendly and a great host. The hotel is nice, not busy and you get everything you need. In Winter it's cold at night but there are electric blankets on the beds so it's ok. Second of all, Jacky is a great (also well-traveled) guide for the region. we received a map he just drew for us and gave us detailed hiking instructions, identifying the best hike for us based on the current weather. We wouldn't have had such a great experience in the area if it wasn't for his guidance. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip and the region. If you want to read more about the trip and the hikes, search for my chicken-suess-sauer blog.

Food was exceptional, we ate vegetarian food. Great views from the room. Jacky was very helpful getting information about Coronavirus and leaving quickly. Would like to return to visit more local markets.

This place is tucked away amongst a village and can be a pain to locate without local help. It's a bit of a walk through narrow village paved paths with lots of steps (be aware that you are up in the hills and terrain). Guests with heavy/bulky luggage be aware but Jacky can arrange porters to help you out. The guest house has a great view of the rice terraces. There is also a rooftop terrace for an even better view. The staircases within the guest house is a bit narrow just so you know. My 3 nights stay was great and I think I got the "deluxe suite" amongst our group. The twin bed room was spacious with a nice balcony. There is even a sitting area where we could gather. Dining options ... well there is none. All meals are home cooked and you just have whatever is served (not sure if you could order up special food though).

We stayed in a big newly renovated room at Jacky's with a beautiful view and terrace. We slept really well and enjoyed the sunrise from the terrace. It was also nice watching morning activities around the village. Dinners were really good and Jacky helped a lot with walking routes and with our further travel arrangements. He speaks fluent English. Cash only.

This was such a cool place to stay, and Jacky was so nice and helpful! Unfortunately I had to change up my trip and he gave me a full refund, so I could only stay one night but I wish I could have stayed more, it was a very nice hotel
