The Casa Svizzera farmhouse is located in historic complex that served as the bottling plant of the Barolo Wine Cooperative from 1902 to 1930. Owned by the Germano family (historic winery of Barolo) since 1936 and recently renovated, it is named for the Albergo Svizzero that occupied the residence in the early 20th century. The residence was decorated in the style of a Swiss chalet and, today, has been renamed Casa Svizzera. The farmhouse is located in the pedestrian area of the old town centre of Barolo and is easily accessible by car thanks to a private road with parking. Barolo is located in the heart of the Langhe area, which is full of history, culture and gastronomy. This small medieval town is a sort of capital of the wine country, surrounded by rolling hills in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. With a short walk from the farmhouse you can visit the imposing Castle Falletti of Barolo, which now houses the WiMu National Wine Museum, and the unique Corkscrew Museum, or you can follow one of the "Barolo paths" that pass through marvellous vineyards surrounded by the natural beauty of the Langhe area.

Detailed Reviews
Very gentle host, really nice rooms with a fantastic view. In the middle of the beautiful town of Barolo, with multiple views on the nearby vineyards. You can taste the superb Germano Barolo wines at a discount on your room, which is a very nice extra.

We truly enjoyed our time at Casa Svizzera. We were only in Barolo for one night and wish we had been her longer. The location of the hotel was absolutely beautiful. Our room, the Verde, was spacious, beautifully updated, and had a balcony for us to look out at the hills. We also came in the middle of a crushing heat wave and the air conditioning was so strong we woke up to turn it down in the middle of the night.
The wonder was helpful and charming. He checked us in at his shop downstairs and showed us up to our rooms in an example of service you don’t see often anymore.
We would highly recommend staying here to anyone interested in Barolo

In a central location but still quiet after 22.00, allows the visit of the village without moving the car. Very nice and spotless room. Mr. Gianni who welcomed us and who also follows the wine shop on the ground floor, a friendly and kind person. A great stay

I'd like to give Casa Svizzera a great rating because I believe they could have provided for a much better experience; however, being charged €50 for them to simply place our room key under the mat outside our room is ridiculous! We contacted the office to inform them that we would be arriving late - we even had the owner of the restaurant we were at make the call. And, still, to be charged this type of fee is really a shame. We fell in love with the Piedmont region and look forward to returning; we just won't be looking to stay at Casa Svizzera again.

In the old vine yard in the center of Barolo and a great view of the surroundings- both of the small town and the vineyards
Stayed in the castle suite- large, nice bed, complimentary drinks (not wine) and snacks. What else to wish for? Only a not so loud air-conditioning...but i would stay there again anytime!

Excellent location, very nice, spacious room, a wonderful bathroom, but the rooms are only cleaned every third day (agriturismo!). We didn't know that beforehand! As the weather was a bit hazy and damp - seasonal - the hand and bath towels weren't completely dry either....
Breakfast was small, but very good.
The owners' interest was clearly evident in the wine sales.
We wanted to do a wine tasting on our second day in Barolo, but none of the owners were available, so we let it go.
The breakfast service - ad personam - very friendly and accommodating (especially the excellently prepared coffee!!). Hence the three points!
The service, otherwise (except for breakfast), was not hospitable, but at most professional, "tourist-friendly"!

Vertical structure in the center, with restaurant/bar on the first 2 floors, wine shop on the 3rd
and 6 bedrooms on the 3/4th.
We stayed in one of the 2 suites.
Large room, with retro elegance, well equipped; very comfortable bed, perfect soundproofing, spacious bathroom with shower and beautiful vintage bathtub.
The only defects found: "exposed" bathroom (a solution that I personally don't appreciate for obvious privacy reasons) and the bathtub with a leaky pipe (wetting the beautiful wooden platform).
The à la carte breakfast was very welcome.
All in all, a fair price.
Free, enclosed private parking.

Lovely stay! Rooms were clean, quiet, and very large. Great view from my balcony. Easy check in/check out. I was told we MUST check in by 6:00 which I did not understand at the time. I was driving up from Nice so ANYTHING could have delayed me. Now I understand. The check in is at the first floor wine store and so would have been impossible to check in after the store was closed. We made it with minimal hiccups (a circle back to Nice for a granddaughter’s forgotten passport…it didn’t happen again).
Ample parking in the free town lot…but it is a bit of a hike up the sone steps. ..it is a hill town

This was our second four-day stay at Casa Svizzera, and again, it wasn’t long enough. The Casa is centuries old, but the newly renovated rooms are well designed, spacious, and very comfortable with modern conveniences which are tastefully present while respecting the ambience and architecture that is Barolo. Last year, we stayed in the very large top floor room, and this year we stayed in a first floor room; both were equally accommodating. Barolo is very quiet at night, and apparently, the rooms are very well insulated because we never heard the slightest noise from anywhere outside our room. We slept well here.
Signore Germano, our host, was a delight, very helpful, extremely generous, and genuinely cared about the comfort of his guests. From the tasting room on the ground floor of the Casa, he was always ready to serve up a selection of wines from his winery. Don’t pass up the opportunity to sample these absolutely delicious wines. In over forty years of drinking wine from all of the major viniculture regions of the world, I have rarely tasted wines of this quality selling at such reasonable prices - especially Nebbiolo!
By car, Casa Svizzera is an easy access once you enter Barolo, and it has private on site parking. Also, the internet service we experienced at the Casa is as good as it gets. If you travel without a car, or like us, you don’t drive when you plan to have more than a glass with dinner, Barolo has some very good restaurants all within easy walking distance.

We had the pleasure to stay a night in the suite (room no. 4 on top) of this amazing place. Run by the Germano family, their B&B rooms are situated above their wine shop in the heart of the Barolo village. Welcomed by the family patron, we quickly felt very much at home in the very spacious and utterly tastefully designed rooms! Beds and bathrooms are of very high quality, really - I can only say positive things about this place. The highlight was our dinner experience with Viviana, inventive chef and and daughter of the family patron: She welcomed us to a delicious dinner with custom-made and designed courses to fit their wines. It was very romantic, we were in a nice room (in the family-owned former monastery five minutes by car from Barolo) overlooking the rolling Piedmont hills, that softly changed colors as the evening progressed. Through the lovely conversations throughout the night and the amazing food and wine we fell in love with this family, what they produce and the entire region. I cannot recommend highly enough!
