We enjoyed the resort as the base for our tour of the wineries in the area. Coming back to the spa at the end of the day was perfect. Each of us enjoyed the pool, the jacuzzi, the gym. Spacious comfortable rooms and bathrooms each have great views of the vineyards. The front desk staff were very helpful. Breakfast was enjoyable thanks to the great service by the waitresses and waiters. The Michelin star restaurant was an experience, but defintely overpriced.
The hotel is beautifully located, with stunning views over the valley filled with vineyards and dotted with villages. Our room had fantastic views as well. And the terrace of the bistro is a good place to take in the environment. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely. Sufficient choice. And someone is there to press your fresh vegetable juice with the fruits and vegetables of your choice. The bistro did not serve us impressive food. As stated the terrace is lovely, however inside it has no warmth due to used materials and way too much white light. The swimmingpool area is beautiful. Very comfortable deckchairs and loungers. The downside were the rooms. The first room smelled so much of cleaning agents that we were given another room. Apparently the walls (of fabric) were cleaned earlier. The other room was very spacious, good bed, nice bathroom. Less odour. The downside was that the room is overdesigned (to my taste). Strange colours, lots of spotlghts, rather bare : the result does not give a comforting feeling. We do recomment the hotel.…
My wife and I stayed for one night at this beatuiful place, and wish we had booked more nights. We will definately need to return, to experience this excellent hotel and restaurant again. The spa and gym area is great, and lets you burn of some of the calories you are bound to put on in the restaurant and wine-bar.
We booked in for a week. Room is excellent, front desk excellent, service excellent. The gym could do with upgrading to link to a heart monitor belt and the indoor pool is a bit small. We were completely underwhelmed by the choice of food in the hotel Bistro and the quality of the food was not up to the mark for the price. That put us off trying their Michelin star restaurant so we dined outside the hotel at some of the other restaurants that you can see in my review. Of special note was La Toricella just a few minutes drive away. Excellent food for a remarkable price. As regards the hotel it is very good but a bit let down by the menu choice.
Il boscareto is as an oasis in the middle of the vineyards: the best location of whole Langhe with breathtaking views, rooms where you got lost, airco even working with 40°C ... and amazing food & service! No doubt, best hotel & resort in this area & we saw - out of profrssionnel reasons - a lot of them!
This hotel should not qualify as a luxury 5 star hotel. The hotel does not have any room service menu after 10 pm. They have one waiter who serves cooks and cleans the restaurant. Though he was very sweet and helpful. The suite we had was spacious but the interiors seem dated. Overall the staff was very courteous and helpful.
We had a great time with my family up in the hill at Boscareto. The view is breathtaking to the vineyards. We had a great dinner and had a local wine which well paired to the dishes. Freindly service, Well equipped gym. Enjoyed...
on entering the staff was friendly (and could speak English). The suite is extremely big with Nespresso machine, living room, 2 baths, large balcony overlooking the vineyard and huge (comfy) bed. Jacuzzi tub, rainfall shower, bidet all in a large bathroom. A host of complimentary health aids like body lotion, body wash, bath gel, shampoo, cotton swabs and more. The resort is on a vineyard that makes a great Barbera d'Alba wine! The food is excellent. I ate in the Bistro twice. I had room service breakfast that was just great - eggs with bread, cappucino, water and melon. It is very quiet. I saw other guests but didn't hear any.
The good points: The location - right in the middle of the vineyards - was amazing. The building is luxurious, rooms extremely spacious and the Spa area is on the verge of perfect. The Michelin Starred restaurant was a great experience - food was brilliant, service as you would expect. Pricing not excessive. Not so good - the rooms (whilst spacious and luxurious) had walls paper thin - we could hear every discussion of the room next to us. The room temperature was also not possible for us to control - was way too warm. The Bistro Bar restaurant was a calamity. It seemed to be only one person who had to look after the entire place - including bringing the food, which itself was slow in coming from the kitchen. I had to send my veal back as when cutting it a splurt of blood shot across my plate and table - also table next to us sent food back as well. Not the experience you would expect from a 5*L resort. Was a pity that an almost perfect visit was spoilt by these points.…
Il Boscareto is a great hotel, but it is looking a little tired in places and perhaps needs to catch up with some of the current leading 5* hotels if it's to retain it's rating. Starting with the down side, our junior suite was showing signs of wear and tear. The walls are an interesting foam-fabric which I suspect adds greatly to the sound proofing, but there were water stains on 2 of the walls, which look like they may have been from leaks internally. There were also deep scratch marks on parts of the, otherwise lovely, wooden floor. The 2-seater settee and armchair were also rather disappointing; rather in a style that one would find in much cheaper hotels and certainly not in keeping with the high-end market that Il Boscareto is aiming for. Having covered the negative aspects of the room, there were also many positives. The junior suite is actually a single room, plus good sized ensuite bathroom with both bath and a great shower. The room was large and the bed was both enormous and comfortable. It would be easy to update and bring back some real wow-factor. There were also excellent views over the vineyards that surround the hotel, several of the wonderful Langhe villages with their castles that helped to gain this area its UNESCO World Heritage status and, in the distance, snow capped Alpine peaks. The staff at the Il Boscareto were wonderful; all were most helpful, from the room maids, reception staff to those working in the bar-bistro, the breakfast room, which has its own absolutely stunning views, the spa or, needless to say, the Michelin-starred La Rei restaurant. The location is also wonderful for exploring this fantastic region of Italy. There are great views from all parts of the hotel. It's location, within the World Heritage site and amongst the Barolo vineyards (surely the greatest of Italian wines - sorry Chianti) means that there are many sites to visit whether it is the cultural locations with the hilltop villages, the wineries, or just some excellent walks on the many well-marked paths that criss-cross the region. Il Boscareto does have bicycles available to hire if you like, although some of the hills may be a little steep! The Spa was smallish, but well equipped, comfortable and popular. We didn't try any of the treatments, but there was much available for those wanting some extra indulgence. We had a wonderful stay and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. But after 10 years or so of being open, I can't help think that the owners need to be refreshing what could be one of Italy's great hotels. …
