From the minute we made the reservation, the owner of the hotel contacted us to ask us about food restrictions and thus be able to receive us perfectly. The spectacular food, the very well done dishes and the very varied and filling breakfast (especially for daily outdoor activities). The rooms are super spacious with an excellent unobstructed view of Lake General Carrera, each with a forest that the facilities team is responsible for loading with dry firewood on a daily basis. The beds are hotel line, large and very comfortable (if you are looking to rest after a day of activities they are perfect). Cleaning is daily with replacement of towels and amenities.
There are several activities that the hotel can coordinate and they are extremely quick to manage absolutely everything that the lake has to offer (from tours of the marble chapels, to jetboats upstream to see the snowdrifts).
Spectacular for all types of trips given the versatility of the hotel. From trips for one person, couples, groups of friends or large family trips.
100% recommended

It was a joy to wake up in this spot each morning. Each "room" was a spacious bungalow with a view of the lake and snow capped mountains. We could lay in bed and watch the sun start to shine on the mountains each morning. Just beautiful. And the family that owns and operates the place were so helpful with suggestions for activities. Meals were delicious. Just not crazy about the walk up the hill to the dining area. Not handicap accessible.

Together with 3 other friends we enjoyed the fantastic hospitality of Carolina and Stephan. From the moment we arrived until the last minute we spent there, we felt welcomed and looked after.
The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, the beds are excellent and the views breathtaking... but what truly stands out are all the personal touches provided by the owners and how much they cared about our experience.
Last but definitely not least, the food in the lodge's restaurant is great. Stephan is a fantastic chef and we enjoyed every single dinner we had there (especially the BBQs!)
Thank you so much, and we hope to come back soon.

We had dinner here one night and were impressed by the professionalism of the place. The Dutch owners made sure to greet us with a tasty, homemade Pisco sour and a smile. All staff were kind and helpful, relaxed and with time for a chat. The food was of equally high quality, starters, main courses as well as desserts - even though they had difficulties coming up with a decent cheese platter as this was not on the menu. We later during our trip along the Carretera Austral met others who had stayed in one of the cabins and praised the luxury and view over the Lago General Carrera to the glaciers of the Northern Ice field.

We have stayed at a dozen hotels and lodges in our trip to Patagonia in January 2024, and El Mirador del Guadal was on the top of the list of best stays.
Owners Carolina and Stefan were very hospitable and friendly not to only us but to all guests. They were always friendly and asked us how our stay was going and recommended places to visit.
We stayed at cabaña “La Lenga” with very confortable beds, stove and logs for heating up the place, hot showers, and specially, breathtaking views of General Carrera Lake.
Breakfast and dinner were delicious and a calm and relaxing music was always playing on the background.
We had only one regret… not have stayed more days… We’ll miss this place! Thank you so much Carolina and Stefan!
Highly recommend!
Thank you so much Caronolina and Stefan!

What an amazing place this is. We understand that the owner fell in love with this location near the village of Puerto Guadal. This sweet family receives its guests warmly and very personally, you immediately feel at home. The houses are beautifully decorated and very complete; each with the most fantastic views over the lake and the mountains. The food is delicious; fish and salads, the meat of the asado, everything well and carefully prepared. The staff is very attentive and nice. What makes you say goodbye with tears after two nights?!

If your idea of paradise is being surrounded by beauty in a lovely cabana with gracious and caring hosts, and good food to boot, El Mirador de Guadal is the answer to your dreams. We were lucky to get a reservation at the last minute and Stephan and Carolina were incredibly helpful, even before we arrived, in making plans, including excursions, for our stay. The food was very good and they were flexible in accommodating dietary restrictions.
Often in Chile the landscape is spectacular. Even the accommodations are excellent. At the Mirador, it all came together to create an experience that felt both spectacularly beautiful and warmly human.

Absolutely wonderful place. We genuinely cried as Stepan skipped down the track with our kids. Utterly wonderful people, insanely beautiful place, great meals, great drinks. Incredibly knowledgeable people who helped us with all our Patagonian jauntings. They went out of their way to help when my son had an earache, they went home to find a hot water bottle. The lake is AMAZING - go to the beach and swim in freezing cold glacial meltwater. Cannot recommend enough.

The location is stunning, the owners and staff so friendly and warm ( with special mention to Laura and Ilagon). The owner is a Dutch expat, Estefan, who fell in love with the place many years ago and is keen and active with maintaining the ecological balance in the area. The set up of the cabins is top notch. They are very accommodating with breakfast and lunches to go if you wish to explore the surrounds and very helpful and knowledgeable with places to go and visit. They have lovely horses if you wish to go for a ride ( Laura took my daughter (16) and she had a great time). The food is divine! And they make fabulous dishes with local produce such as shellfish, crab and salmon. The only downside ( and it is also an upside) is that is in the middle of nowhere, 5 and a half hours drive in dirt roads from Balmaceda's airport and 1 hour and 20 minutes from Puerto Tranquilo and the major attraction sites of the glacier and marble caves. However, that's what it keeps it unspoiled and so peaceful, so totally worth the effort.
