My husband, daughter and I spent our first 3 nights holiday in Sri Lanka in this lovely hotel. It was the perfect remedy to being over tired and annoyed due to a dreadful experience with jet Airways. We contacted the hotel from Mumbai as we were stuck there on the floor for 15

We paid 225 USD a night for our stay hoping it to be a boutique hotel. The fact, that we travelled with 6 month old baby, was charged extra (beeing the first hotel charging for the baby). The location itself is great, the views pictureque, but the hotel is outdated and NOT worth

My wife and I stayed at Number ONE Mirissa for six days. The staff are very attentive and the breakfast is great...try the Sri Lankian breakfast. I could walk 50 feet and surf. Walks to the beach take two minutes and there are a number of really good restaurants to pick from

Small hotel at extreme end of the beach. Fortunate location because the music on the beach goes on until the wee hours. The décor is eclectic with many antique pieces in the rooms and public areas. The hotel seems deserted at night with only a security guard on duty. Had

We enjoyed our stay here. The food and service were great. The staff were always friendly and only too happy to look after all our needs. We all swam in the clean salt water pool frequently. It is a short walk to the bustle of the beach but far enough away to be relaxing. We

The staff are very helpful and will organise your whale watching trip for you. Bars and restaurants are walking distance on the beach front, although when we were there in July quite a few bars have disappeared because of the regulations to move further away from the beach front. The food at the hotel is also lovely. Enjoy!

It's not a private beach no, but this hotel is tucked away in the corner of the bay with beautiful views over the surf point and the whole beach. The hotel doesn't provide loungers and umbrellas on the beach but you could take a walk and use some of the others along the beach. We did that and just bought a couple of drinks from the restaurant.

Hey Elizabeth, a. This place is close to the beach. You can't enter the water right in front - it's rocky. b. There is a walkway to the beach. The water was a bit choppy when I was there last - I wouldn't leave children unsupervised. (This is a surfer's beach) That being said, there were a lot of families with small children/babies in the water when I was at the beach last. c. The pool is filled with sea water and is cleaned in the morning (I saw them doing it when I was getting breakfast). So if you're expecting a pool with fresh water which is chlorinated, that is not going to happen. A small tip: At the end of the strip of beach (about a km away), there is a small cove. This is not as crowded as the beach in front of the hotel. The water seemed gentler there. Regards Anup
