I don't normally write bad reviews, but this place deserves an exception to the rule. My girlfriend and I ordered a simple salad and burger. After 30 minutes of waiting we were told that none of the burgers are available. Well thanks. Switched to a sandwich which took another 40 minutes to make (We were the only ones at the restaurant). After 70 minutes we finally received our disappointment of a dinner. You can have a look at this marvelously overpriced excuse for a sandwich below. The fastest thing in the place was the bill, that I got immediately. Also, I sincerely hope that this review won't garner a cheeky response as that would just prove my point. Avoid if you enjoy not starving.

I stayed there for 2 nights after spending my other 2 nights at 2 different hostels in Weligama. Mr Hostel is so close to the beach, to the supermarket, and to everything. The staff are super nice - a mix of locals and foreigners running the show. Bunk beds are big, with curtains, a personal lamp and plug of course. Wifi is running well. They also have private rooms which are nice. And there's a nice open space on the 2nd floor where you can do yoga, work out, or just chill on the built in hammock. I just love this place and felt I wanted to stay even longer (so I booked a second night) - even after staying at 2 well known hostels in Weligama.

See that nice photo of the dorm? Nice and clean.. our dorm did not look anything like that. Stayed at 6 man dorm. Small space! Bathroom / shower in 1 warm room. Staff messed up our booking and told one of my freind she had to stay in female dorm, even other messed up their booking. Did not offer any compensation or told they were sorry. Ok atmosphere in and around lobby for a few drinks at night. Bed was comfortable and had a privacy curtain. Reading light and power outlet. Ok for 1 maybe 2 nights.

I don't really understand the negative reviews about the food here. I really love it!!! The staff is super friendly and in 4 months of traveling I haven't had a dorm which was so big and clean. The hostel is really close to the beach and the mainroad. I would definitely recommend this hostel!

Visited for breakfast after stumbling accross it on a walk to the beach. The staff were rude and the food was badly cooked and way overpriced Worst and most expensive meal we had in mirissa ... very disappointed!
