Kitesurfing Lanka is an amazing example of regenerative tourism. The company has been pivotal in transforming the village of Kudawa for the better through its win win working mechanism with the locality. As the name suggests, Kitesurfing Lanka are pioneers in the Kitesurfing and now Wing Foiling sports with a large school and own teaching zones at the beach and lagoon front. For those who are in for a holistic Sri Lankan tourism experience, this is the place to be. Lush 8 acre gardens, local staff that are full of smiles and great food. We also have 2 bars and unlike any place you have stayed, this place has a lot of HEART. We have a blind shiatsu massage therapist, yoga and partnered with Sri Lanka's first beach gym - The BNKR. We have bicycles and kayaks to use as well. If you are into the arts, the camp is full of wondering sculptures and art. Its a treat for the eyes. We are very flexible in our pricing and always want to be accommodating!

This is my second visit to kitesurfinglanka and for me being a solo traveller/kitesurfer is the perfect location. The camp is set under an existing coconut plantation with a variety of accomodation to choose from being bungalows, tents or the house. The staff are friendly and will go out of their way to help with anything you want to know. The food is out of this world, a Sri Lankan banquet every meal, all nationalities sitting together sharing stories. There are plenty of activities on those windless days or just hang out in the chill out zones scattered here and there. The kitesurfing in the big lagoon is only a truck ride away, you can go morning and afternoon sessions or you can kite right out the front of the camp in the ocean. The location here in the north west of the island is pristine, no development and full of nature. For me this is the perfect kitesurfing holiday and a true srilankan experience 🙏

This place is incredible- it’s an sports enthusiast paradise disguised as an eco art studio!
Every building has unique touches and there’s incredible art pieces everywhere! The rooms were very comfortable and we loved sitting on our balconies.
The staff were amazing and made sure we were taken care of during our stay.
There’s literally something for everyone- beach, bar, Kitesurfing, yoga and a gym nearby!
The best part was how committed they were to the environment with trash collection/ recycling, upcycling & a program where they replant mangroves and educate on their cause.
Can’t wait to go back!!

My favorite place in the whole of Sri Lanka! The place is full of positive vibes the staff and owners are very accommodating and extremely professional! U can place ur trust in them to provide u a holiday that is value for money! Situated in Kalpitiya on a secluded beach spot away from crowds! Kitesurfing lessons are provided for an additional charge..u can go and see dolphins or go kayaking or just have a sea bath and relax! The food is basic but really tasty! So many Instagram worthy spots. There’s a yoga hut and lessons are provided as well as a masseuse if u would like to get a massage done! Well worth a visit!

This is really a place with a soul; a big hotel grounds with beautiful coconut trees, direct access to an amazing beach and lovely staff. We stayed one week in the second floor of the villa with small kids and really liked it here, even if we did not kitesurf which is really the main activity for most guests.
That said, at the time of our visit (early December) things were still a bit wobbly. There were free bikes to borrow - but all 3 were broken and couldn't be used. There was a long list of activities the hotel could arrange, but in practice anything but kitesurfing was quite a bother. Before we booked we were assured we could use the neighbourings hotel swimming pool for free, something that hotel's owner just laughed at and said we had to pay like any other nonguests. On top of that the villa had a quite steep price, and while it was beautiful we got the sense that during covid had not been maintained well, so there was too much problems (hot water, AC breaking etc.) for the price.
Overall, if I kitesurfed I would have loved it here. Also if I was without kids and lived in a cheap tent. As it is, I think families would get more value for money elsewhere in Kalpitya.

This was the best way to end our two months trip. Me and my friend stayed here in a bungalow. It was an amazing week. The place is like a paradise which i sometimes couldnt believe i was there. Everything is well organized by the staff. In dutch i would say "ze mogen in hun handen knijpen with such a great staff". ;-) Every day the kite equipement was perfectly arrange, the foodddd was delicious! And just the service and the vibe, perfect. The lagoon is nice to learn kitesurfing, with the boat (and upwind ;-))service you are absolute safe. During the week the wind was a bit low and gusty, but we went to other spits by boat. You do have to pay extra for these trips. Overall an amazing week and place you wanna come back to.

You cannot go wrong here, staff, people, facilities, food, all amazing!! Even on a rainy windless day they went out of their way to make it unforgettable to organise a beach volleyball event and rent a wakeboard boat for 2 hours (to take turns for free). The social setting of big dining table and launge corners makes it social and relaxed, we met amazing new friends! Also the kite school is all you can wish for, Micha was on top of catering classes for all needs. Roel - our sons kite instructor - was a fantastic match :-)!! Thanks for the great surf! Enough wildlife as well, also in the brilliant outdoor style room.... My shoes have been eaten and the advent calendar (which did not fit in the locker, as we were warned they eat everything) had been ripped apart ... Great memories.

I stayed 2 days here with the sole ambition to learn kitesurfing in 2 days. The kite lessons were given by Daniel. He is german and honored the german reputation: disciplined, structured and systematic. With him, always safety first and we learn the sport in steps, no shortcuts. Then there is Michael always attentive that the clients are happy. I remember that after puffing 2,5 hrs in the water, Michael came to the beach with some fruit. I needed these sugars & fluids in my body. A small gesture from Michael but which underlines his genuine care for his clients. The Sri Lankan staff was also very friendly and helpful, especially Sadun. He is a problem solver for whatever you ask. The rooms & food was good and the camaraderie among kite surfers was unique. I was there alone but was quickly invited to join the group. All in all a very nice experience.

We host the She Flies camp at Kitesurfing Lanka and they couldn't be more welcoming and supportive of a group of women in Kiteboarding. From kitchen staff, bar staff, beach boys to Kite instructors and guides - I'm always amazed at how awesome they all are and make the ladies feel totally at ease from start to finish. The spot in the winter can be directly outside of the camp or a short drive away like all the other camps. In the camp itself, we always have new places for our private group discussions whilst having the easy option to join in with the wider camp and guests when we want at the bar in the restaurant. She Flies and Kitesurfing Lanka go hand in hand and will always return year on year.

Our family of 4 had such a great time at Kite Lanka, the thing that marks this out as a five star review is the team that run the place. They are so friendly and helpful, from the guys on the beach helping with kite launch and set up, to the bar staff who serve up some great cocktails. The food is amazing and plentiful with lots of choice and variety.
The kite shop has plenty of hire kit and the team are knowledgeable and on hand to offer advice. The instructors run by the lovely Michael are all great and our beginners came on really well.
Accommodation is rustic but the rooms are nice with everything you need and are set in lovely gardens around the large gated private compound that houses the communal spaces. The beach is less than 100 metres away over a pedestrian bridge that takes you over a small lagoon.
The vibe is very chilled out and friendly and there is always someone to chat to and plenty of fun to be had around the bar at night.

Came to KSL in January 2022 for one month, extended then my stay for two more month, and finally extended for another 3 month. You get addicted to this place and the team. Simply wonderful. During this stay I had opportunity to expérience all surrounding spots in shallow flat and wavy waters. Kite trips to discover different spots are organised twice a week, sometimes even more often. So you have plenty options to choose those you prefer. if you are lazy to move out of the camp, you will be spoiled kiting just in front of the camp. In rare days without wind, the team will organize wakeboard afternoons, or get longer yoga sessions with Linda. After six month staying at KSL I am still not bored with the delicious food. Every saturday night BBQ in front of the bar open till the last client, and where the vibes turn to party atmosphère almost every night. If you are lucky, your stay may coincide whith Jean-Luc dj beach parties. Euphoric fantastic bombastic! Thank you Sebastien, Takisha, Radjita, Tikiri, Ruandte, Tilac, Sheihan, Gihan, Zahran...all you others...and of course Dil & Léo!

We brought our own Cabrinha kites as it's cheaper than renting if your going for a few weeks as we did, most airlines carry if within the 23kg weight free. Kitesurfing Lanka can arrange pick up from the airport so no hassle!
There are more places to choose from in the Kalpitiya area.
