We were very happy with our selection, exactly according to our preferences: local accommodation style, perfect location, excellent food, friendly staff... we selected the economy room type because of the authenticity and we didn’t regret it! It doesn’t have private bathroom, air condition... but is simply great!!! Beautiful beach directly in front of the hotel. Very clean and quiet property! If you go to Kalpityia and want to stay at “Sri Lankan style” hotel, than this is a right selection.
We asked for Dinner. A man told us we had to take what he was just cooking (rice w. vegetable) and icecream for dessert for 10$. We asked for a price without icecream and got to know that this is impossible. So we walked on to the kite area 10min and had a choise of several restaurants to eat a la card.... payed less than the half. I would not go there again To spend the night I can recommend that there are some places close nearby ... for less money and with fantastic service and food.
During our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka we came here most evenings for wine and beer to watch the kitersurfers and enjoy the sunset. Great location for kiters as a short walk from a beautiful flat water lagoon. You can store your kite kit here and walk a few metres to pump up. There are many comfy areas to sit (bean bags and sunbeds), so good for non-kiting partners too. The wine was a very good price (only a little more than the wine shop). We also had a lovely shrimp curry here one night. A lovely couple running it.
I stayed at Diyamba Beach resort in January with a group of Kite surfers. We were allocated a nice room to the left of the dining area. The room had a comfortable double bed with mosquito net. A bathroom with shower and toilet. The shower water is cold but I soon got used to it – and then found it refreshing! Outside this room there is a spacious terrace with a comfy sofa and a lovely swinging seat. The terrace looks out towards the lagoon and creek. Breakfasts were very tasty – you could choose to have eggs – anyway you like (the Sri Lanka omelette is delicious) – or you can try the Sri Lankan breakfast, (see photo) . Lots of fresh fruit – pineapple, papaya, watermelon, bananas - which you could also ask to have juiced. Plenty of toast, and I must not forget the piece de resistance – Kenny’s delicious homemade jam, made with local fruits. We had dinner a few evenings – fabulous fresh fish – Rock fish, lobster cooked by the chef Kenny. And other tasty dishes that I forget the name of... In the garden there are sun beds, hammocks, and another swinging seat –plenty of places to relax & chill. From the garden it is very easy to stroll across to the lagoon in the early evening to watch the kite surfers and the beautiful sunsets. I really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay in a beautiful unspoiled location.. Ramani is the perfect hostess, and if you need anything during your stay just ask and she will help. Thanks Ramani for making our stay in Kalpitiya so enjoyable.…
we spent 8 days of quality time with our son whom we had not seen for 15 months . and this was ideal. pretty undeveloped area, we stated in some simple straw huts but they do have a small block of hotel type rooms. beach deserted apart from the kite surfers charging around during the day. fantastic food by the amazing kenny who is the best chef around (we also atewell in kalpitiya town at Angels, but kenny is devoted to his craft) and great service and help from the owner Mrs Corea a former business executive with perfect english. good internet connection and good signal from nearby mobile phone mast.
