Detailed Reviews
We have been coming to Achlada since 2013, almost every year, visiting our friends Marcos and Valerianos. This place is so nice to stay, calm olive garden around, breathtaking sun sets every evening and beautiful sea views from each villa and terraces. The villa is clean and well designed, also pool is clean and refreshing. You can order tradition Cretan dinner for very good price, all done from local ingredients and really delicious. From this place you can travel to lots of other great beaches every day, just short drive away. Very close to Heraklion to visit museums, to do shopping and visit good restaurants too. This year is first year of Ellie and George taking care of apartments and they are doing they job really well with big enthusiasm, we were very happy to met them and drink wine together. It is really our love place, with great spirit, for sure we come next years again.

I spent three nights in this great ecotourism in achlada. The hosts are exceptional and you feel right at home. The food is all home made with garden and local ingredients. The accommodation is simply beautiful and you can hear the chant of the cicadas and the bells of the goats day and night. Elli and Markos are excellent hosts and generous with their time, information, meals and drinks.

The residence is strategically located 30 minutes from Iraklion airport and 15 minutes from the nearest beautiful beach. It provides a stunning view of Iraklion to one side and the sea on the other side. Marcos, the owner, is amazing with his hospitality and knowledge of Greek history and ancient family roots. He helped us with everything we needed including securing a rental car.
You will never get bored from the stunning sunset views, the sound of sheeps in the morning and the scent of the garden. The apartments are beautiful, designed with simplicity, adequately equipped and very cosy to stay in. There is also a swimming pool for your morning wake up dive or evening relax.

We visited in September 2016 and had a fantastic stay. Marcos and Smaro were incredibly friendly and very helpful; they made us feel at home right away. The apartments are located in an excellent spot on the island, making it an ideal base for visiting a number of sites and different beaches. The children loved the baby pool. We really cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you for everything.

It is strange when you check my Tripadvisor, I am always reviewing only Mourtzanakis Residence. During these 5 years we visit with my wife and 6 years old son some places in the Europe, we met nice people and owners of small hotels, restaurants or apartments, but there was always something.... For us became Achlada our summer house, we find there everything what we need for great vacation, nice and clean house, quiet neighborhood, delicious dinners served on the terrace with stunning views and great owners which will try always help you with your requirements. When we came back home, many people asked me about crisis on Greece, Crete etc., they are influenced by the media, but from my point of view I must say that I found Greek people the same as always, living and enjoying their lives. So, our next will be Crete again.

I stayed in Mourtzanakis Residence for 5 days, and this boutique hotel is just perfect. The bedroom is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped. The bed was perfect, I felt at home immediately. There was a chimney in my room so I can imagine how cosy it feels in the winter time. The premises are so clean and very quite and kept well serviced all the time. Impressive breakfast that will please everyone.. The Mourtzanakis family is very helpful to all guests in suggesting what they might do, how to get there and where to eat. All in all, it was a great base from which to explore the surroundings, Agia Pelagia, Heraklion and he rest of the island and to return to in the evening.
