We had originally booked at a well known resort in Port Vila but changed at the last minute because we wanted to have a more localised experience. So after some research, we booked 4 nights at Blue Bay instead and were not disappointed. We were collected at the airport by Eric the manager and taken 20 mins to his place. Blue Bay is not in town and you cannot simply walk down to the shops. While the accomodation is simple, it is very clean, with fridge, tea, hot showers and comfortable beds. No aircon, but fans in every room, combined with the sea breeze makes for a pleasant temperature during the day and into the evening. Snorkels, paddle boards and life vests are all provided in the price along with breakfast. This includes a salad platter, juice, coffee or tea, yummy banana pancakes, french bread, and eggs any way you like. During the 4 nights we dined in twice for dinner and once down the road at the Beach Bar on the Friday night for the fire show. We kayaked out to the small sandy island off the resort and snorkelled every day along the reef edge 50 mtrs off the coast. What was so impressive was the flexibility of Eric and his team. Nothing was a problem for any of them. Lydia the chef was so accomodating on our final night cooking up a delicious chicken, chips and salad, which wasn’t on the standard menu. To top off our last night, we were serenaded by Eric’s father Sala, who is locally known as the “black elvis”. Sala, along with his trusty guitar, and great voice, banged out many Elvis hits and a number of his own. Even Eric came out for a cameo performance, singing with his father. Absolutely fantastic and not expected, and just for the two of us. We chatted about local customs and other issues well into the evening. We simply would not have got this insight into the country had we stayed in central Vila. Once again there were no issues when checking out. Knowing that our flight was departing at 1600, Eric said we could check out at 1300 instead of the usual 1000. Eric and his staff provided shuttle services at local prices to and from town, the Beach Bar, and up to Mele Cascades. They are in the process of reconstructing their restaurant after it was destroyed by a cyclone a few years back, but dining in the temporary facilities did not change the atmosphere or the local hospitality. We were most impressed. Thankyou Eric and staff at Blue Bay Resort.

DEVIL'S POINT ROAD is a far way from the airport and downtown : THERE 'S no public transport one could get from there ! THE road is rather bad too. IF one lives solace AND WANTS to avoid civilisation, maybe it will stand as a salvation spot ! Or if one wishes to go toTHE zipline TOO. THE resort is like what a resort should be, NOTHING WRONG WITH IT . IT IS JUST THAT I WAS DROPPED AT THE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WHILE I 'D REPEATED SEVERAL TIMES I WAS TO CATCH A LOCAL FLIGHT. HOPEFULLY, THE TWO AIRPORTS ARE NEXT ONE TO ANOTHER !! HOWEVER , THEY dropped me too late and I had to catch the next flight A FEW HOURS LATER. I was told they'd come back to pick me up BUT AFTER A GREAT TIME , as I saw nobody at all , I COUGHT A BUS TO GO BY MYSELF. ONCE ALSO, THE FAMILY transport came 1 HOUR after it was due. THE LOCK OF MY ROOM was very hard to open AND WE HAD TO BE several to pull or push to make sure it would open.

We were booked with Blue Bay Resort for 4 days, but ended up staying 9 days. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and serviced daily. All have a view of the bay - so you can sit in bed sipping your morning coffee and watch the sun rise. We loved kayaking and snorkeling in the mornings - seeing new types of fish every day- and returned to shore for a generous and tasty breakfast. The Resort is a short distance from town and very peaceful which suited us well as we came to rest and be rejuvenated. Trips to and from town were offered twice daily. Most nights we had dinner at the resort and enjoyed every meal. Many thanks to Eric and his team for making our stay at the Blue Bay Resort very special - always there to assist without being imposing. We look forward to our next visit!

Many thanks Eric, Silas and staff for welcoming the Rotary Group to stay via my coordination. The service was superb and they catered for the group of 9 with ease along with other guests staying. The evening meal was great and well presented and no trouble for two extras to join and attend the unplanned welcome dinner. A great find for a larger group and being local makes it even more special. Well done Blue Bay Resort. Will recommend for others we coordinate. Great service.

We spent 8 wonderful nights at Blue Bay Resort - and could have stayed longer! The peace and serenity of this location is unbeatable! Each individual villa faces directly to the ocean, you literally wake up to the sight and sound of the water every day! Such incredible views across Mele Bay, with lovely big patios for each room to sit and enjoy the beautiful outlook. Rooms were spacious, extremely clean and very comfortable - serviced daily and to a very high standard. Snorkeling the coral reef at Blue Bay was amazing, so many tropical fish and marine life straight off the shore! We also saw dolphins pass out the front of the resort, and spotted turtles while kayaking. The resort is about 20min drive from Port Vila, and Eric and his team are available to drive you in and out. We had several dinners in town and it was never a problem to organise a shuttle with Eric for a small charge. Part of the resort's appeal is that it is so secluded and quiet compared to staying in town, and passing the local villagers along the way. We hired a car (mini Moke!) for a couple of days which was great to give us flexibility. There is a restaurant at the resort offering a small menu of good quality meals for those nights you don't feel like venturing far. We dined there twice and it was delicious both times. The Beach Bar is about 10min drive from the hotel and has awesome pizzas, and a fire show on friday nights not worth missing! Thank you Eric, Christine and all the team at Blue Bay for making our stay with you so memorable! You really looked after us so well! We can't wait to come back.
