A fantastic holiday booked through "Activities Abroad" who were excellent. After a direct flight from Gatwick, we were met at the airport and taken to the hotel. Even though it was after 10.00pm (plane was delayed) they served a lovely 3 course dinner for the group (we were booked half board). The room was warm and comfortable and staff were...

We went with Activities Abroad to Search for the Northern Lights. Unfortunately they didn't show because it was cloudy and relatively warm (between -10 and -20C. However this really didn't spoil the holiday. The hotel is very, very good; welcoming with good food and rooms with saunas and wood burning stoves. The activities provided by Snow Games were really good...

Luosto is great if you wish to snow-mobile and husky safari but if you are going for the northern lights then forget it, you will have more chance of seeing Santa Claus fly past you on his sleigh. The people whilst friendly are clearly frustrated at having to answer the constant queries of disillusioned tourists looking for the lights. I...

We have just got back from a fantastic week in Luosto. We booked through Activities Abroad, direct flights from Gatwick to Kittila and a week half board at the Aurora Chalet Hotel. The whole thing was simply fabulous. Activities were all booked with Snow Games (local company - opposite the hotel) via Activities abroad, the highlight of which was the...

My partner and I stayed here for a week in February 2011. It is a small, cosy hotel and each room has its own sauna. We paid a little extra and had a woodburner in our room which was brilliant - especially when the temperatures outside were down to -40 degrees. All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful...

My husband, daughter (22 yrs) and I have just come back from an amazing week at the Aurora Chalet. Thanks to Activities Abroad, every thing surpassed our expectations, from the moment we landed at Kittila, to the very moment we took off again. The room was spacious, spotless and very well equipped, nothing was too much trouble for staff, everyone...

We had such a wonderful time staying at the Aurora Chalet. Although we didn't get to see the Northern Lights, we were'nt disappointed at all. Very friendly staff, warm and cosy rooms, with sauna en-suite In fact, missing the lights this time around means we have a perfect excuse to go back.

As with previous reviewers we went on an Activities Abroad holiday to the Aurora Chalet. The hotel is great, food good, staff extremely efficient and friendly and the booze isn't as expensive and Norway. The Aurora text alarm worked well and we did manage to see the Northern Lights on our last night. All the activities arranged by Activities Abroad...

We booked our trip through Activities Abroad. Half board basis with activities included in our package. Everything was fantastic, the hotel (Aurora Chalet), the food, the service, the location! WOW! Great place for kids of all ages to try new and exciting things from snow shoeing to husky sledging! Unfortunately we only saw the northern lights from our plane window...

We had the pleaseure of staying in the Auora Chalet in Luosto, Lapland. The hotel is small (only 26 rooms) but very BIG on giving excellent servce. The staff were helpful, friendly and nothing was...

“A North facing room so you might see the lights.”
of 5 bubbles mervalino, Dec 27, 2015 | Read review
“The aurora can be seen from the glass igloos, but it's best to get away from the lights of the hotel itself, and the street it is located on, and over to a nearby frozen lake (3-4 min walk), or to a well-known large/open field (7-10 min walk) for the most vibrant and spectacular views in the immediate area. If staying in a standard room, be sure to request a room AWAY from the staircase, and don't expect any view in rooms on the first/downstairs floor, otherwise, all room windows face north.”
