Apokryfo is a unique hideaway situated in the foothills of Mount Olympus in the wine growing district of Cyprus. This cluster of old stone houses has been painstakingly renovated by a local architect and his interior designer wife. Just 25 mins from Limassol, Apokryfo provides farmhouse style cuisine, spa, salt water pool, seminar room, luxury guest rooms, one room studios and three bedroom houses, all equipped with king size beds, c/h, a/c, TV/DVD/WiFi and some even with fireplaces.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We stayed here for two nights as a base to explore the Cyprus mountains and to have some R&R. What a find, this guesthouse is a little gem! Our room was Lavender, which was a great size and overlooked the pool, with a balcony. The bed was very comfortable, high ceilings, we had a lovely little bathroom and a good size fridge. The room had air conditioning as well as a fan.
The hotel was never busy or noisy, and was very relaxing. The pool was refreshing, and there are sun loungers dotted around the guesthouse with nice views over the village and surrounding area. You can even see a beautiful sunset from one of the terraces.
We enjoyed a delicious evening meal prepared by the chef - a traditional menu with fresh ingredients and a really good bottle of local wine. The menu is set and changes daily, and I really loved this concept.
Breakfast was plentiful and there was lots of choice. Food was fresh and good quality.
Staff were very friendly, warm and helpful, and made us feel extremelty welcome.
Overall, we had a fantastic stay and I would love to return here one day! Lofou itself is a beautiful village to walk around, and we loved learning about its history.
Only word of warning is not to follow the Google Maps directions to the guesthouse as they don't follow the correct route!

A stunning hotel with charming staff and amazing food above the village of Lofou. The food really can’t be beaten and we tried ! The rooms are gorgeous, all local stone and exposed beams with hidden courtyards everywhere across a clever complex of individual houses that is not unlike the village below. Sauna, steam room, massages and a lovely dipping pool, all, welcome after a day exploring the nearby villages or walking the mountain trails and waterfalls. To finish the day before an incredible meal (every night) are several secluded drinks spots to enjoy the sunset. Top notch.

My husband and I spent three nights at the hotel last year (August) and this year (August). We had a great time and is definitely our favourite weekend break in Cyprus. Rooms: We stayed in the Olive room last year which is a beautiful room with plenty of space for two people plus a little one (our son was not even two months old at the time). The room's balcony is partially covered by a tree which gives you a little more privacy than some of the other rooms. The extra space wasn't needed as the lounge area downstairs is really comfortable, super spacious and overlooks the pool so we didn't spend much time in the room to make use of the additional space, but it was useful if you have a small child. This year we booked the Almond room which is a little larger than the Olive room. The Almond room only comes with a shower, which I find more convenient than a bath as it means my little one can run around in the water with me rather than being restricted to a bath tub. The room has a fireplace (not needed in the summer obv) but can be really cosy for the winter, and there are windows/doors the entire perimeter around the room meaning that you can catch a breeze from any direction! Our balcony was 15 steps away from the pool and 20 steps away from the terrace where breakfast is served. Homely service, very professional and really attentive. My only complaint might be the coffee; the espresso seems to be served as a tripple, and the freddo espresso could do with some ice but we made do - we were here for the break not for great coffee. Food was amazing!

This is a gorgeous little boutique hotel on the edge of the village Lafou. The main house has a few rooms above, which overlook the swimming pool and then there are additional houses scattered around the property. The swimming pool itself forms the hub of the property, with the restaurant tables scattered around. This makes for a very intimate yet spacious environment which is a great base to spend a few days exploring the mountains. The food is excellent, in particular the breakfast which was extremely plentiful and delicious: the fried eggs were exceptional!
My top tip would be to only book direct with the hotel through their website/by email and not to book through any third-party site. We ended up with a situation where our room was double-booked, and the other couple had booked through a third party. It was all resolved in the end, but just to be safe, maybe contact the hotel in advance before you arrive!
I would also say that, there doesn't really appear to be anyone in charge at the hotel so if anything does go wrong, you may be frustrated that nobody takes ownership, especially if you have certain expectations from hospitality. But don't let this detract you from booking what really is a lovely place.

We stayed two nights and were very well looked after by the, ladies who were looking after it. Breakfast was huge and delicious and we had the set evening meal once which was delicious and good value. We were upgraded to the corner house which was lovely, the decor is delightful! Only one little thing to mention, there was a christening the day we arrived which meant we coukd not sit by the pool or use the restaurant, instead were offered lunch in our room. It would have been good to be told this before we arrived.

Staying a few days at Apokryfo you can't help but feel it's been a labour of love. Beautifully built and exquisitely designed, every corner is a testament to the taste and passion of its owners.
Lofou is a delightful rural village, quiet, traditional, unspoilt, with stone houses, narrow winding streets and cobbled passages. It's high on a plateau, surrounded by terraced hills. Once remote and entirely agricultural it has been rescued from decline, beautifully restored, and a joy to stay in.
Apokryfo is the star of the show. It was such a privilege to stay here and thoroughly relaxing. We loved our room (Lavender). The staff are welcoming and thoroughly professional. Breakfasts were a delight. In the evenings we alternated between Apokryfo's wonderful dining room and some excellent tavernas in the village. A great place to stay, and terrific service.

What an amazing experience we had. Fantastic service and the food was delicious. The room was perfect and the designs are stunning with an eye for detail. Amazing dinner by the pool - set menu was a perfect suggestion and we loved it. Nice balcony and world class service from the amazing team. We live in Cyprus so we will be back again soon. We enjoyed the walk through the village and the map with a treasure hunt was a nice touch. Loved the salt water pool and fountain. Well done. Highly recommended. Thank you.

We stayed 4 night in the lovely Sterna apartment, which was clean, well furnished and with a nice fireplace. The couple running the place, Ioannis and Vivian, are very kind and attentive providing great and personal service. We truly enjoyed Lofou and Apokryfo

Perfect, friendly retreat. Away from the crowds and heat of the coast. Very comfortable and friendly staff. All was clean and food was simple and they went out of their way to give us vegetarian food despite the set menu. Lovely stay - quite a steep walk down and then back up from the main village - only a few minutes but if you have mobility issues it might be a problem. Parking at the back was a bonus.
