I stayed with a friend at Yordanos after our tour of Danakil. The hotel is way overpriced and there are better value options in the city. The shower was disgusting. The toilet stopped working in the middle of the night - particularly unpleasant when one is experiencing food poisoning. I recommend looking for other options in Mekele.

I made a booking and paid online, then took a taxis to the hotel before I was told the price is 4 times the online rate. They would not negotiate the price. It is obviously very frustrating to think you have plans sorted and take a taxis to a hotel only to find out that the cost is 4 times... More

This is the prototype of an old-fashioned classy hotel. Large, pleasant, clean rooms with stylish furniture. Good restaurant with excellent breakfast buffet. In all a very nice place to stay. But. None of the 4 (four) reading lamps in my room worked, and the 4 out of 5 ceiling lights that worked, didn't provide enough light to read. The shower... More

Very basic hotel, but several steps above guest house or backpacker's hotel. Shower is typical Ethiopia: shower head coming out of wall and 30" by 30" shower floor, unenclosed. A little cold at night, but they kindly provided an extra comforter. Very clean. Wifi is present, but useless. Restaurant downstairs is quite good. Very little English spoken by anyone. For... More

Insisted on staying somewhere other than the Menelik as I was avoiding a couple of people and this turned out to have been the best move I could have made (reports of sewage smell from the Menelik did not sound nice). The staff are cooly efficient, the room was spotless and breakfast was excellent. Also ate in the evening and... More

Lovely hotel with great facilities and very helpful, friendly staff. Clean rooms, well located in town centre and has a restaurant serving delicious meals. Would definitely stay here again! Great value option in Mekele

I have used the Yordanos twice stopping off there with work. It was always fine for my needs ,the staff were friendly ,and it is reasonably priced . You must remember where you are , this isn't London ,Paris or New York !

I had originally stayed a t the castle hotel which is significantly older but has a beautiful patio and a certain old world character but continuing problems with water supply forced me to enlist my favourite Bajaj driver to find a new home. One of the places he suggested was the Yordanos and I was sold on it right away.... More

Very tasty decoration, nice staff, huge room and hot water (not so easy in Ethiopia). Breakfast could be improved.Very well located. Offers if u come through any Tour agency. Ask for rooms with street view (bigger).

Didn't stay here, but the restaurant was very good - esp.the dry tibs and shiro bozana. The staff was very nice and professional - very rare in Ethiopia :). Avoid the Axumite wine, unless you love sweeeeet red.
