Arrived with 3 friends after 2-day Danakil tour, needing a place to stay for a single night. Decided spontaneously to take two twin rooms at Milano. Should have first checked reviews. In one room bed bugs appeared within 20min of resting on the bed. Room change was requested. No bed bugs in the other room (we hope). Otherwise, no hot water in one room. No running water at all in the morning. Stained carpets, curtains, bed sheets. Dirty bathroom. Broken furniture. Maybe expected if paying 100 Birr per night and not 650 for a twin. Didn't see any other guests anywhere. Empty corridors, restaurant, meeting hall. Lots of staff though, mostly idle. We left to airport without breakfast next morning since it still had not arrived after 45min of waiting. The one good thing I have to say is that we laughed a lot poking fun at the place. Definitely memorable! …
I was part of a party ot 25. Some of our rooms had no water. Toiletries were not provided and toilet paper came only after complaints. No hot water either and the sink didn't drain. The shower drained by flooding the bathroom... and the bathroom door was warped and did not shut. The top of the toilet cistern was missing. No hanging space in the room but it did have a very small pre flat-screen television: presumable the date at which the room last received any attention. Breakfast was acceptable and the staff, as ever in Ethiopia, polite and helpful in the face of adversity! Overall, capital D for dump!
Really terrible place. I was here for convenience because of the ETT Office. After a long trip to Danakil I needed a place to shower. The room was filthy. The bathroom sink was backed up. The toilet didn't flush and the lever in the tank was broken off. There was no shower curtain so the bathroom became soaked and flooded by the shower - I'll add there was also no soap and the towel was basically a rag. At least the water was hot - a fellow traveler using another room for their shower, didn't even have that. In Ethiopia I had been overwhelmed by everyone's friendliness and hospitality. I received none of that at this hotel - it may have been the only place. There was no price break even though I only needed the room for an hour. Still, at the US equivalent of $12 I probably shouldn't have expected much; I didn't and they still disappointed.…
Very dirty place with literally no service. I only stayed here because my ride left early in the morning in front of ETT office, which is right next to it. I went in to my room and it smelled like cigarets and dust. I opened the bed to find out that there was hair and some brown stains in my sheets. I asked them to change the sheets and clean the room or I would leave, so they promised to do that.. after 20min they said its cleaned. Went back only to find out that they've had literally just made the bed and not change the sheets or done any other cleaning. After I went to say this, they where laughing but gave me another room which was at least cleaned. Don't push your luck with this one..
Third world chic! The location is good, near to the downtown area and the local ETT tour office is located just to the left of the front door within the hotel building! The building front and lobby look decent, the rooms not quite so much. Wi-fi in the lobby, onsite restaurant/bar with free breakfast. You will be lucky to find menu items actually available but their Italian offerings were good. The room was comfortable but quite shabby looking, I had no water problems as many have reported but the staff didn't notice the condom on the balcony as it was still there when I returned from my 4-day tour to Danakil/Erte Ale!
