I had a great autumn week end in a perfect single room, with breakfast and dinner. The food is great - eating too much is a real risk! :-) - , the hotel clean and confortable, the family that runs it are kind and helpful. Some paths of the National Park start right from the hotel, so no need to...

Nice location with superb views and wonderful walking opportunities, and a very friendly staff, but I'm afraid we were disappointed by the inadequate suppers, the cold bedroom (which leaked rain through the windows), and the unexpected noise of 50 schoolchildren aged 8 to 9 who screamed and shouted from 7AM to midnight apart from when they were out for the...

I've stayed a few times in the Lago Verde and it's a nice, family-run hotel which is a good base for staying in Barrea and exploring the Lago di Barrea area which is a very beautiful part of Abruzzo with a good range of walks etc. The hotel is situated just below the hill town of Barrea, which can be...

First point, the bell tower is over 1/2 mile away from the hotel and when I was there the bells stopped at night ! Unless you are super sensitive to noise don't worry about them. The Hotel provided good food ( italian style), had a very large public lounge, SKY TV room and outside terrace. The drinks at the bar...

I recently returned from a 7 night stay at the Hotel Lago Verde having spent a wonderful week hillwalking in the National Park under the guidance of one of the best guides I have come across - Stefano Spinetti. Prior to travelling I read your 2 reviews on this Hotel and was extremely concerned about the accounts of the all...

In response to a previous review I have twice stayed in Barrea; I experienced the all night bells on my first visit in October 2008. However, returning in May 2009 I can report that the bells do not now operate between 10PM and 6AM. That leaves you able to have a good sleep in comfortable beds, in rooms that have...

Hotel Lago Verde is a great base for exploring the Abruzzo National Park. The hotel is frills free, with basic but spacious rooms and decent en-suite bathrooms. There are also family rooms with bunk beds. The Hotel is best seen as a base for exploring the magnificent countryside and beautiful Barrea itself. The staff will always do their best to...

Our goal was to visit the Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo over the weekend and have a place to stay for one night. We booked this hotel (3 stars in the European classifying convention) for a same-day reservation after attempting to get a room in another place that was booked. The proprietor kindly took our reservation over the phone (be advised: he...
