Crowne Plaza Dublin Blanchardstown is owned by Tifco/IHG. I booked through Tifco/IHG’s quarantinehotelsireland.com, which only provides a booking service, and no other information, even upon request. A few days before the booking, the hotel itself sent an email, with not much information, but replied promptly and fully upon request. You will be taken from the airport to the hotel by a bus organised by Tifco/IHG. For us, this involved waiting for about 40 minutes at an empty baggage reclaim area as the bus was late. Recommendation – have the bus turn up on time. Check in took almost hour. There’s a lot of forms to fill in, much of which duplicates data already collected electronically when booking, and when completing the passenger locator form. Recommendation – streamline the ‘paperwork’. Rooms are fine, wifi is good. It’s just as well, as you’ll spend 23 hours a day in the room for twelve, (or eleven) days. You need to keep it clean yourself, so clean as you go. If you need them, you can get cleaning materials sent up. You’ll get a change of sheets and towels every three days. Laundry is free, but it may come back slightly damp, as it did for me. Expect crumbs, as sides of bread rolls or toast don’t come with plates as, they told me, "there are no plates in the hotel", only takeaway containers. You can rip open the brown paper bag food comes in and use that instead. After a couple of days, I was given paper plates. Recommendation: provide plates. Food is not great, the evening dinners in particular. When checking in, you are expected to specify what you’ll have each day for the twelve days. Questioning this was not taken well. Once you complain (as I did…) or ask nicely (as you should), you’ll be told that you can change your orders, you can get extra sides, bags of fruit etc. But this information is not volunteered, presumably as F&B have cost targets to meet to milk the 5.4 million euro contract that Tifco/IHG negotiated directly with government, with no competitive tendering process. Having the three meals delivered at set times each day is actually good. It is the only thing that gives structure to the day, and makes it a little easier to be self-disciplined, which you need to be in this situation Recommendation – allow people to choose food each day. Greatly improve the food provided. Again, plates. Bring your own knife. If you have people on the outside, see if they can bring you extras like brown bread, some fresh tomatoes, whatever you’re having yourself. Coronavirus testing takes place on your second day here, and you are not allowed out for exercise breaks until you get your negative test. I was tested at noon on the second day, and was told I’d have the results the following morning. I didn’t get them until 5 pm. I got out for exercise in the first available slot three and a half hours later. So that’s over 50 hours locked up in the room. Recommendation – take the samples when people are checking in, or soon thereafter. Even better, take them at the airport. “Exercise breaks” and “Smoke breaks” take place in an area that starts at the main door, goes along the Sanctuary Bar, and around the corner to a fire exit. It is 59 paces in length, 8 paces at its widest, and one pace at its narrowest. The tiny space cannot be fully utilised by any one person, let alone the children that were there during my quarantine. It is completely inadequate. Recommendation – arrange a larger exercise area, or stop quarantine at Crowne Plaza Blanchardstown. You get charged €1875 for 12 nights. They do their best to get you out on the penultimate day, which most seem to do. That must be quite a dividend for Tifco/IHG. Recommendation: charge €1,718.75 for 11 days. Staff of course are friendly and happy to help. This applies to the security too

It's a great hotel in a nice location. We are medical professionals from India. We had 5 quarantine rooms and stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks. The staff were friendly, very attentive and helpful. The hotel is spotless and all the staff members are meticulous in keeping hygiene to the highest standards. We truly loved it. However, the food was extremely disappointing. We expected much better. Special mention to Binetta who checked on us constantly who was so professional, honest, knowledgeable and quick. Who always made us feel at home during our stay there. She was always there to solve any problem we faced, big or small. We had problems with food so we wanted to order something from outside. Unfortunately, we could not place an order without a credit card. When we raised this issue with Binetta, she kindly and professionally asked us what sort of food items we would like to order from outside. She spent from her pocket ordering food for 5 rooms for me and my friends. She never gave us a chance to pay for our food. We were amazed at the humanity that was in her heart. We are so glad that such humanity and kindness still exists in this world. People like Binetta are some of the most amazing and rare diamonds in the world and should always be valued. This was one of the best and most memorable experiences of our lives. Flawless service. You are truly amazing and taught us that a person’s most useful asset is not a head full of knowledge, but a loving heart with open ears to hear and hands willing to help. Binetta went above and beyond and made this stay beautiful and memorable - so thank you for all your help Binetta!!!
