I read some of the previous reviews, most recent 2015, and I can see things have not changed . What I would say is as a tourist the breakfast buffet was a great way to start my day and after an adventurous day a place to rest. I have no complaints. The Fude Lime Hotel is old and worn but comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful but spoke little to no English. In the rooms there is cable TV with a variety of channels, hot water pot, fan, in room bath room. The FLH is centrally located to most sites, night markets (long walk), hipster Shennong St (5 min walk) and the train station( Short bus or taxi ride @$3.00 -$4.00) Bicycles are available . The HSR station is much further away but a free shuttle from the HSR takes you to the University stop that was then a $3.00 taxi ride to the FLH.) I booked thru Booking.Com and used the email property feature to ask the FLH how best to get to the hotel from the HSR. After the 3rd try I gave up. Thankfully the Tainan HSR customer service info desk answered all my question upon arrival. The breakfast buffet was great. It consisted of 5 entrees, braised tofu in a rich beef broth (OH SO GOOD), noodle, egg, vegetable, rice porridge with all the sweet/sour/salty additives, Ham, buns, toast, juice, good coffee and tea. Non -smokers take note. Be clear that you want a non-smoking room when making your reservation and again at check in. Apparently floors 6 and higher are non-smoking. Unknowingly I was put in a smoking room 5th floor and immediately requested a change. For the price that included the breakfast the FLH is a good deal.

Not only is it hard to get around Tainan getting any where in Tainan is difficult due to a shocking lack of public transportation in a city that large and mostly caters to tourists and locals alike. Having stayed in many hotels was rather shocked to see such a hotel that was in desperate need of updating and modernizing. The hotel advertised itself as a business center but saw no meeting rooms or even the hotel room was not suitable for any kind of meeting. The room was clean and the staff friendly but over all there must be better ways to enjoy Tainan it was a great place and full of history. Too bad Tainan is not known for Atomic Era décor but rather 17th century buildings and forts which it is known for. Would I go to Tainan again? Not likely given the poor state of public transportation in the city that depends so much on tourists for its economy.

Clean, professional, helpful, good price. Had a good stay here during a Christmas time trip to Taiwan. I remember that they were very receptive to us via email which was appreciated since it was difficult to phone with schedule changes with our 12 hour time zone difference. Place was clean, and they had lots of material to help us navigate the city. Room was clean and they had hot water and tea in the room for us. Breakfast was standard and good enough. They also had an area for us to leave our bags on the day that we checked out, since we kept traveling for the day and then came back that evening to take a train out of town. I'll be back if I come to Tainan again. Good proximity to night market!

This hotel is straight from the 70s featuring tasteless chandeliers, tacky mirror etchings and an air of general dilapidation. I found the day reception staff pleasant enough but the evening ones seemed to be unfriendly, unsimiling and generally fairly miserable. The rooms were fairly clean ( except for the hairs on the floors) and well equipped but the hotel is long past it's prime and it shows. The free condoms in the rooms may be an indication of the type of clientele that frequent Fude Lime hotel although during our stay we saw no other guests to verify this. Air conditioning is controlled by staff from somewhere outside the room and is usually set to Arctic gale. If you plan to shower it's best to leave it running for 10 minutes otherwise you'll be standing under cold water. Breakfast is a dire mix of overcooked veg or bread for toast (the heaters for the toast are so bad we made do with warm bread after 7minutes). However, the hotel is conveniently located near the Chihkan Tower and a collection of interesting back streets to explore but this shouldn't be enough to compel you to stay here. Although Fude Lime hotel isn't completely terrible there are better places to stay throughout Tainan

The room looks better real life than on pictures. We liked the room a lot. Clean. The reception does not speek english, but they were helpful and tried Their best. Really great service. We would stay there again, if we were to go to Tainan. About 10 minutes away is a food market (only open to 1 pm). Walking distance to a lot of temples and the Chikan tower. About 17 km away from High speed train. Much much closer to ordinary train station.

We stayed one night and it was good enough for the price....the room was clean and the shower worked just fine. Breakfast was adequate and so overall, would recommend this to anyone. At first we could not figure out how to turn the lights on with the key, in the dark....but a trip back down to the desk with our host solved that challenge. Beautiful area to visit!

Apart from my room not having a window I still had a comfortable stay here. My room was a little dated, but quite spacious & even had a sofa. Wi-fi is free & the signal was strong in my room. The included breakfast was simple. The hotel's location is a little out of the way, but it was nice to explore the nearby streets & eateries. The staff don't speak English, but they went out of their way to assist me whenever I needed it. All up I was happy with this hotel.

This was an adequate budget hotel for a one night stay. It is 4 km from the Anping area where the main sights are but as far as I could make out there seem to be no hotels in the Anping area. The room was clean and quite well appointed with an adequate supply of toiletries although there is no wardrobe, just some hooks and a few hangars - as I was only staying one night I did not unpack and so this did not bother me but it might bother some people. It was a bit difficult to obtain hot water in the shower. There was an adequate small Chinese-style buffet breakfast included in the room price. There was limited English spoken at Reception but those who knew some did their best to be helpful, especially with the ordering of taxis. As Tainan has no underground train (MRT) I was reliant on taxis for the only time in Taiwan.

First rooms don't look like the photos on any hotel booking site. Certainly no high vaulted ceilings. The room was fairly large but a tiny window. Internet was good. Didn't try the breakfast. There were a few ` pubs` in the immediate area and thats the Taiwan type of pub not the British/Australian type!. One issue is that there is no in room control of the A/C so it was on all night at a pre determined temperature. For the price though you cant complain and staff were helpful enough that overall an average to good budget option
