We liked it. We'll go back, but ask for a room with a view. It was a huge room and a huge bed, but a bit claustrophobic with no real natural light penetration. We didn't do the restaurant (who goes to Ximendeng to eat in a hotel?) but the menu looked good. Great huge bathtub which I wish we had made time to use. Shower is a bit of tight squeeze to get yourself in and then close the door, but that doesn't detract from the state of the art buttons and knobs. Front desk was super welcoming and helpful (it was our anniversary and they left us a slice of cheesecake and a card). Great location, minutes from Ximen station, which itself is one stop from Taipei Main Station.
It was a rather pleasant stay. The people were polite and they greet you, without fail, everytime you walk through the front door. They did allow a late check out which is greatly appreciated. Location is great with the many food and convenient stores nearby. Breakfast was not very impressive but decent for anyone to start their day right. They are many eateries so you dont always have to have breakfast at the hotel. There were not much facilities for me to comment on. The room had a direct usb plug, which would have been really helpful except that one of it was not working. May want to look into it. The shower is a complicated affair which had too many knobs and handles. The most disappointing portion of the trip was that they enforced the return of key cards and they do impose fine for not returning both. It's really sad that they do not explain such an important clause during check in especially since many hotels do not enforce the return of both key cards. Spoiled the overall experience of an otherwise decent stay.…
We paid for an elegant room which is a tier above the standard room, mainly due to 2 of our big luggages apart from several small soft hand carry bags. The room assigned to us definitely looks different to what is depicted on the website online. The website portrays the best room in that category, while the room assigned to us was a corner room with irregular corners in the room and bathroom which is usable though not feasible for everyone depending on the size of your body. As we were traveling during the virus outbreak, this is a non peak season where we did not face issues with the single elevator in the entire building as compared to other guests. Nonetheless, we still waited for the elevators and shared the elevators with the hotel staff. Upon checking in, we found that there is a slight language barrier with the reception as they were unable to explain the bank charges and holding on the credit card used for the booking done on their website as there are discrepancies based on what terms they used to converse in the email and upon checking in, in person at the counter. Despite having sufficient number of workers at the reception, although polite and greeting us when we come in and out of the lobby, no help will be rendered towards the baggage and luggages of guests. This stays throughout the checking in or checking out process. Perhaps they do not have a clear line between concierge and reception? The room, as noted by other guests, are dimly lit in both the room and bathroom which poses an issue if you need to do anything solid or even routine tasks like shaving or putting on some make up. Small details are not thought of when building up this hotel for guests that makes a major difference such as the lack of a single hook in the bathroom which means no clothing or towels can be hooked or hung up, no place for a hand towel, certainly no place for towels to be hung up for drying after use. Minimal amenities are provided, though housekeeping may not refill them adequately if you are staying for a longer period. Complimentary bottles of water will not be provided if you do not consume entirely the previous day's giving. Housekeeping is no doubt weird in their standards as from day to day, you can spot the difference in standards rendered. The only comfort we had was that the sheets were really changed dutifully when you place the sign on the sheets to get the sheets changed on a daily basis which then could be done only because of the virus outbreak season. The room may be not be the newest but we had minimal issues with cleanliness in the hotel. The loitering weird scent of the room is probably due to the old carpets but it is negligible. Noises can be heard but we did not experience large issues due of the off peak season as we did not have neighbors. Vehicles can be heard as the hotel is on a street, but this is also a convenience for those arriving or hailing cabs with huge baggage. The walk from the hotel to the MRT's exit is only negligible if you have minimal baggage and minimal crowd in the XMD area. Breakfast buffet is identical for us in terms of quantity and spread for the two mornings that we had breakfast with them. The taste is a little inconsistent for several dishes as it can be bland on one day and really salty on the next. Considering the rates of the hotel and other breakfasts offered by hotels in the area, this is something that we would not complain as chicken, fish and quality vegetables are provided. We used their laundry services which caused us a big disappointment and minor disruption during our stay. Do note that you would have to go down personally to the reception counter to retrieve the laundry plastic bag and form, and then head down with the completed form and laundry bag to pass it over to the reception counter. They will also not deliver the clean laundry to your room once it has been completed, unless you are not in the hotel to retrieve it on your own. If there are any disruptions in between, say the laundry service is not available as someone is feeling ill and will not be able to head down to collect and do the laundry, please note that you will not be notified until you discover that your laundry is not returned way past the deadline. This caused us a hiccup in our trip as we were heavily reliant on the batch of laundry sent to them which we have been using this service on a nightly basis with the hotel. It is only with constant chasing and querying that we found out that no service was done for a batch we sent out. Taxi to the airport can be booked with the reception counter at an affordable and reasonable rate of TWD 1000 where the reception will book a local taxi that would arrive on your agreed timing. Do also note that no assistance will be rendered with your luggages and baggage. This is a hotel that we will not return to.…
If you want to be in the busiest and most attractive part of the city, this hotel has a great location. Ximen is buzzing and vibrant and pretty much all day and all night long. But if you want to relax and enjoy your hotel too, not the great choice. Where do I start? The room: small but cosy. But who the hell is thinking about a bathroom with no door? I don’t want my partner to hear what’s going on while I am in there, right? Breakfast: TERRIBLE! It’s like war to sit, war to the buffet and war to the elevator (yes, there is only 1 for a 10 floor building). I won’t come back despite the attractiveness of their rates.
This is a really nice hotel. We booked for a week and got a discount for the suite. Our room was very spacious with free tea and coffee sachets, 4 canned drinks and a slice of cake. The bathroom is almost the same size as the room. I love the heated toilet and bathtub. The room service was also great! They kept replacing our towels, robes and slippers everyday. The breakfast was really good. And this hotel is just few steps from the Ximending Market.
Unfortunately this hotel was not up to our expectations. We stayed in six hotels in Taiwan and this was the only one that disappointed. The most positive thing going for this hotel is its location - right in the middle of the Ximending shopping precinct. The rooms were spacious but dark and tired. The bathroom was clean but again looked warn. The breakfast was very ordinary - a large spread but low standard. There is only one lift for the whole building so we ended up using the fire stairs to move up and down in the hotel. These fire stairs were worrying as they were also being used for storage and one wonders what would happen if there was actually a fire in this building. We would not stay here again.
With only one lift, guests have to wait longer at peak hours and especially hotel staff also use the only one lift. During my stay the lift card reader spoilt and the lift technician has no idea how to get us up to our floor. Until someone suggested to walkie talkie any staff upstairs to press the lift so that guests can take that lift up, no contingency for lift breakdown. Later the card reader was disable thus guests and non guests can use the lift, thus no security once card reader is disabled. Standing showing cubicle has limited space and above average size guests have difficulties getting in and out of the cubicle, especially the glass door pushes inward instead of pull outwards. The shower water taps are complicated for an average individual. It's time to check out when you are familiar to use the various taps in the shower cubicle. When guests are cold on a windy cold day/ night and asked for portable heater, the front desk simply replied "we don't have heater, you can switch off the aircon". On our first day a nice reception staff walked out with us to hail a cab, on the following day another reception staff simply said "there are many cabs outside our hotel" and offer no service to hail a cab. If you cannot take slightest sound to go to sleep, cars outside the windows may be vaguely heard even with windows shut. …
In-house hotel is really convenient. As soon as you come out of the hotel , you are immediately at the pedestrian area where there are all kinds of shops and restaurants. Ximen MRT station is about 10 mins walk, easy if you don’t have luggage but if you do, walking past crowded streets may be hassle. Opposite the hotel is a money changer where we can exchange for more Taiwan dollars. Lots of taxis just outside the hotel too so no need to worry about waiting too long!
We chose this hotel for the location, just a street away from the breakfast street in Ximending. Service is good and breakfast is decent. The room has a very nice bathroom, but the bed and pillows can be better. Rooms are dark, so not so good if you are traveling with children and old folks. There's only one very small lift, so during peak hours like breakfast time, some waiting is required.
Very nice boutique hotel , good location , good staff but very noisy outside . I didn’t sleep a wink every night since I came here , really feel bad and upset .So if you are insomnia or hard to sleep don’t choose this hotel .
