Cam is a hell of an educator. As a P.E teacher myself I highly value clear instruction and the ability to motivate others past their comfort zone. He's exactly who you want along your side in the water. As an intermediate I had basics such as the ability to pop up on a wave, the intuition to turn on waves, how to stay with the waves energy and how to lightly carve the waves' face (when I'm on my frontside). I've had experience in crowded lineups in other parts of the world, and I must admit I was intimidated having never surfed proper Bali waves, nor their lineups. Cam has the ability to correct what he sees with very positive, constructive criticism in the water, and out the water during his surf analysis lessons while you watch the waves you caught on film. I've been to many surf camps across the world yet Cam is with no pun intended, next level. In the past I've had surf analysis and they've been extremely helpful, but Cam's patience, passion and teaching ability consistently provides you with a clear next step for progression and multiple strategies to achieve that. I was not able to perform a proper duck dive, which he taught me in a week's time. My paddling technique, which I thought was ok after 6 years of surfing, was corrected and maximized for efficiency, making a cornerstone difference. My pop up on waves are significantly better, with improved technique to angle into them. Going to Cam is like getting a Hugo Boss tailor made suit. He'll look at your abilities, whether beginner or intermediate and will significantly progress them as opposed to going to another surf camp with a high turnover rate. You'll learn a lot while feeling comfortable in surf spots you otherwise may have found daunting. If you're really keen to see what you can do in surfing, you've found the place. See you again in a couple months man 🤙

Just finished a week at Nextlevel and had an absolutely amazing time!!! Cam and his crew are the best coaches I've ever been around for any sport. You get so much 1 on 1 time; in the water, on the waves, going over the videos, practicing at the house, fitness and stretching techniques, and the theories of surfing (watching the water, learning to be safe, and working with the ocean instead of against it). I learned so much this week, and feel like I progressed my surfing by years! We surfed 3 different spots and had a blast at every spot. The house is lovely, big room with AC that works FANTASTIC and hot water showers! The location is great, you can walk to several delicious restaurants and Padang Padang beach was only a 5 min walk. Theresa made incredibly delicious meals that catered to our diets and were different every day, which was very much enjoyed! We made some great friends while staying here, had fantastic conversations, and will use all of the information/techniques for the rest of our lives. A million thanks, its 100% worth your time and money, it truly exceeded all of my expectations! If you get an opportunity to come here do it!

Cam is knowledgeable and passionate about surfing and will improve your skills in 7 days. I had only surfed 3 times with no instruction and felt chaotic in the water with no board control. During my 7 day surf camp, I learned wave theory, how to catch my own waves, how to paddle efficiently, pop up, and ride the wave face of green waves. I feel so much more confident in the water and have actual board control. Watching the videos of you surfing is a game changer. You can see where the errors are being made and work to improve them every day. Theresa made wonderful food and arranged some of the best massages I've had. Thank you Cam and Theresa

The accommodation was great! I had an amazing time learning how to surf with Cam. He is technically amazing with teaching you how to surf, within the first session i learnt the foundations of surfing and was riding the small waves on Padang Padang beach, this was all down to Cams incredible teaching skills. He is a really detailed instructor and takes his time to make sure you’re doing the movements correctly. Theresia is very helpful and kind and she will go out of her way to arrange things for you. They all make you feel very welcomed into their family environment. I would 100% stay here again for great hospitality and surfing lessons 🤙🏼

Theresia and Cam arranged a ‘last minute’ room and surf package for me within 48 hours before my arrival from Hong Kong – all questions answered promptly to initial email within 45 minutes. Package included airport pick-up and drop-off which went well. Room was comfortable with a/c and breakfast and lunch times were made flexible to allow for the surf schedule (don’t like to eat before surfing..). Theresia even prepared an excellent Indonesian Pepes Ikan on last day when I asked if she knew where I could get one! In the booking confirmation Cam replied ‘Let’s get some waves’ and we started early the first day. Received a good briefing about using clockwise currents to make it easy to get out and back to line up and then we went to Padang Padang. Had many good rides and learned a few tips on turning board around quickly and watching for waves and then we went for the video review. Cam is very passionate about making you a better surfer and through several years of daily video reviews he has broken down all aspects of the surf experience and will advise on what you need to do to improve. The positional ‘cobra’, ’panther’, ’eagle’ progression is helpful to understand what needs to be done to improve pop-up! Following 3 days at Padang Padang we went to Uluwatu for the next 3 days. After another briefing about counter-clockwise currents to use and watching a poor soul struggling against current to get out I caught some very nice rides there thanks to Cam and Eric! It’ been a goal of mine for the past 10 years to surf at Uluwatu and I appreciate very much the efforts of Next Level to help make it happen – I highly recommend them!

I’ve done this surfcamp 4 times and I’m THE ONLY ONE who is always back and the reason is only one -surf trainings. If surf is not not your top and only priority you have nothing to do there unless you: love to live in not very clean place; love to have chicken soup with cold coffee for breakfast or no breakfast at all; happy to wait hours and hours to enter the water (quite often the appointment for the surf session is 7am but actual time can be 10am); don’t care much about your safety in the water; ...ahhh, and if you are a good looking girl get ready to deal with an instable and extremely jealous Cameron’s wife Theresia. For me surfing in my Bali trips is my absolute top priority so to avoid uncomfortable situations I usually stay in another place (all my friends that stayed at NL once never return there when come back to Bali because of the issues mentioned above). Surf lesson without accommodation will cost 55 euros a day and it includes transportation, equipment, 2hrs in the water and video analysis. The video analysis is the best thing of these sessions. Cameron has a huge experience and he’s extremely good in technical surfing details, if you follow his indications you have immediate progress (and the indications are very precise and clear) and if you still have difficulties Cameron will help you with special exercises and ‘out of the water’ sequences so you surf success is just inevitable. My shortest course with NL was 12 days (I started from scratch and I see a good result now after only 16 months), but apparently in this surfcamp the returning customers are not welcome. After 2 weeks I was back from my last trip to Bali I received an ugliest disrespectful message from Cameron’s wife Theresia (to whom I never gave my number) accusing me in being interested in her husband (and the proofs were the flower emoji I usually add in the end of my messages🌺😄 when I text to check if video session are uploaded or for the surf time; and the fact that I brought a box of chocolates from Italy last time for her son 🤦‍♀️) So if you want to receive a bonus of these people private family problems be sure you will. (I forwarded that message to Cameron but never received apologies or any reply so apparently it’s not the first time his wife does something like this and he is not surprised).

My husband and I have been surfing dedicatedly for the last 6 months in Southern California. We started out by renting boards and hiring a coach from random surf schools but we always felt disappointed because we were not able to see any improvement. We started watching tons of videos and have seen some progress by helping each other out. Then I came across Cameron and his wife's surf camp when I was looking for a surf coach to take our skills to the next level. We decided to pay Bali and Cam a visit to improve our surf skills. Cam was very enthusiastic about teaching. Six days flew by so fast! We couldn't believe how much we learned about every facet of surfing in these days. We feel transformed in our surfing technique and much more confident. We were able to go from 9ft boards to 6ft+ and be comfortable catching faster and steeper waves. Staying at their place was great and we loved the hospitality from his wife and staff and loved the food! Theresia also helped me plan a birthday surprise for my husband which I am super appreciative of. We had a great time hanging out and becoming friends with them. They are not only great teachers but great people too! Thank you again Next Level Surf Camp! :)

If you want to get to the next level, or want to learn how to surf as a beginner the right way - do yourself a favor and go see Cameron. My girlfriend and I surf quite regularly in the last years, but we wanted a check with a surf coach. Cameron delivered and more. From the basic technique to the intensive camera review: all is done in an amazing and very positive way. You can sense and feel that you have met someone who found his true calling. Cameron and his team care. So much so that if you’ve surfed Padang Padang - you’ll have seen them as they’re a presence in the water. You’ll learn a lot about animals - Cobra, Panther, Eagle, but you’ll learn much more about your next level of surf. We did. I did. Amazing! I’ll be back for sure. Cheers, Yves Newman
