We chose Sugar Beach Hotel for our wedding venue. It was exactly the right size to fit all 70 wedding guests, with not a room left in the hotel. We really can't thank the Sarah, Sven, and all of the staff at Sugar Beach enough for helping us feel like the hotel was our home away from home for nearly... More

Great place to relax, great ocean front room, would have liked to have little more security presence. Great food at the restaurant. Would definitely recommend it to anyone, fast road to the hotel requires 4wd, but longer route is in really good shape

There is so much to say about this place that I'm sure I won't capture it all. This was the best vacation I've ever had. Ever. And the hotel was a large part of it - astounding service, great people working there, tasty food, amazing views. Really the only negative thing about this place is that you have to leave... More

One the best things about Costa Rica is the wonderful friendly people, and Hotel Sugar Beach has a wonderful, friendly local staff. Daisy and Sven at the front desk are a great source of help and information. The dining room staff are also very wonderful and the food is very good. The bummer is the rooms are in need of... More

Such a lovely place! first of all, it's a small beachfront hotel and that's hard to find in this area (Usually the hotels are very large). 2nd is that the beach is small and only accessible from the hotel so while it is a public beach, there tends to not be too many people. The hotel has recliners down by... More

The hotel is in a nice Bay, but there is not much to do. Little surf boards are available at 2 USD per hour. The is no breakfast buffet, only a la card and the service is very very slow. The plates are not big. It took us more than half an hour to get breakfast. Two additional toast slices... More

Dear Stefan, I have shared your complaint about the price of toast and boogie boards with Sven, the manager. He assured me that you were refunded the charge for the boogie board rental. We agree, that when the hotel is not full, we do not need to charge our guests as the rental fee is in place to keep the... More

We had a nice, large and very clean room with a partial view of the ocean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food in restaurant was good. The hotel is a bit remote from the rest of Playa Protrero and so our rental car made the hotel a bit of an oasis. Quite a few rocks in the water so not... More

I will share your kind notes about the staff in our next meeting, thank you! We do have regular, moderate waves that may bring sand in, and also periods when the rocks are no longer covered. Glad you discovered Playa Danta - Sugar Beach is a 6 kil drive from Flamingo, but are fortunate to have Pura Vida Ride and... More

The room was nice & had an Oceanview. Breakfast was included & great tipico food. We relaxed on the beach & took walks. We saw many crabs, fish in the Tadpoles. We had to cross the river to get to this town . Wow! Great adventure! I recommend an SUV & not driving at night

Our family (3 kids) have been traveling / working in Costa Rica for over a decade. We are always on the look out for unique, small, gems that allow our family to truly relax and at the same time have an adventure of a life-time. Hotel Sugar Beach is that place. We love it because it is a small establishment... More

We had huge expectations for this hotel and planned our family vacation for months to this destination, however we were disappointed. I am very sorry to hear that your vacation was a let down. Sugar Beach is more known for its tranquility, the nature and a place to unwind. We may have not let you know in time that on the next beach less than one kilometer using the road you would find calmer water, high quality stand up paddle boards,... More
