Our room on the first floor was tidy but tired looking. The shower leaked over the bathroom floor so the door which had been damaged by the water couldn't close. Signage own the motel had been removed which lead to some confusion in find the place!
The Wimpy restaurant attached to the motel is one of our favourite breakfast and lunch spots when we are in Palapye. Fast and friendly service and good food at good prices. Breakfast is a difficult meal to make well and they do just that.
We stayed at the Desert Sands for 2 nights. We stayed in a corner room which was dark and dingy. No expense expended on making the room bright. Bed was OK and it was quiet.
Things worked, it was clean, (as far as we could see), and it was close to the centre of town.
Great hotel.May not be a luxury hotel but great rooms very accomodating staff in a quiet configuration on the main road.Rooms ere quiet.
There is a proper restaurant at the very back so no need to use the Wimpy next door.
Restaurant served great food
Curry was fabulous
Stayed there for two nights - rooms are great, good sleep. Three restaurants nearby, all kind of food, so you could choose. Prices are fair enough, and staff very helpful and kind. A special mention to the wifi - very good, at least in ground floor rooms.
"at the back"
"Rooms in the middle might be a little quieter."
"Close to the SA/Botswana border, so location is ideal. Hopefully renovations have now been completed and the above comments no longer apply."
"All rooms seem to open onto the parking area which is useful if you have lots of luggage."
"We had a room near the front of motel but it was quiet enough for us."
