While not easy to get to over a very bumpy dirt road, this hotel is worth the trip. Not only are the views amazing (go for a deluxe room), it is the super friendly service that makes the big difference. Anja went out of her way to help celebrate my partner’s birthday: there were balloons decorating our room, free drinks and a slice of birthday cake! The rooms are spacious with balcony and a big bathroom. Great infinity pool and hangout space as common area. And very enjoyable food and cocktails in the restaurant. Furthermore, they are ever so helpful in organizing trips. We managed to pack in a bioluminescent kayak tour at night (about a 20- minutes car ride from the hotel), and a snorkeling trip to Isla Tortuga next morning from the nearby Curu Wildlife Refuge (20 minutes boat ride to the island , $30 USD plus park fees). Highly recommend this hotel!…
We stayed here for a total of 6 days and would love to stay here more. This hotel is run with a lot of love and heart. We liked it very much. We would like to mention the choice of great food with vegetables and fruits from their own garden, especially that there was always a small good selection for vegetarians. Also highly recommended are the drinks. We had a small fine room with good facilities as well as a great view of Playa Organes, in which we felt very comfortable. Our stay was rounded off by the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff and the hotelier couple. We were well looked after, everything was organised and the recommendations for excursions were always of good quality and targeted to our needs. Based on our Costa Rican experience, the price-performance ratio is unbeatable. We thank the whole team for the great stay and will miss your adorable cats.…
The property and pool area are beautiful and well manicured. It is way up a dirt road and hill so very safe and fun for kids with a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the bay, friendly bar staff plus a pool table and foosball table area for kids to unwind. For the wet season, I would say this is the best place in this area. The storms at night can be quite soaking and severe so great to have a room to retreat to a night with AC! The staff here work hard all day and night and are very accommodating. I would agree with another review that this is not a luxury property. There is no main concierge like we had at other properties here. The rooms are spacious and clean with great views. We booked a Deluxe room w a queen and king which was adequate for 2 parents and 2 teenage boys who slept in the king. We ate at the restaurant every night. The food and service were good and reasonably priced in a beautiful open air setting. One downside is when the hotel was at capacity, it was tough to get a lounge chair at the pool which we ran into on the weekend. If you are looking for ultra luxury, I would suggest the Glamping hotel across the water which we had lunch at and toured one of our days here but not for families with young children. We would consider the Glamping for a return trip.…
I wholeheartedly rate the Vista Las Islas Hotel as “Excellent” based on the location, restaurant and service for the price paid. We had not expected to stay here, but did so at the last minute after leaving an unsatisfactory hotel in Santa Teresa early. What a pleasant comeback after a bad experience. We were impressed by the many surprise-and-delight touches that the hotel offered. The setting is spectacular overlooking the bay coastline towards Tortuga Island. The room was pleasant and had a balcony. The location is five minutes away from the Paquera ferry across the Nicoya Golf which you can book online. I highly recommend taking this very relaxing and scenic ferry ride which we used to get back to San Jose. Others have commented about the road up to the place which is rough and typical of many CR roads, but it is entirely doable in a 2WD car if you take it slow. The service was exemplary. The young Swiss woman (Anja) at the front desk was charming and helpful in so many ways. I particularly appreciated her help in making the online reservation for the ferry. Once we arrived we were given a delicious lemon-mango smoothie while our luggage was taken to the room. The room was decorated with fresh flowers from the gardens on the property. Dinner and breakfast in their restaurant was another pleasant surprise. Restaurants in small hotels like this are often not that great. Quite the opposite here. The dinner commenced with the waiter serving a mango ceviche amuse-bouche. We had the Costa Rican casado and the Mahi Mahi for dinner which was well prepared and tasty. The buffet breakfast surprises included a special batido de guanabana (guava smoothie) made from the fruit on the property and a very tasty cinnamon chia pudding. The attention to detail and level of cuisine were at a level that you would expect in an expensive, upscale restaurant in San Jose. To sum up, while we stayed in several much more expensive properties (e.g., Andaz in Papagayo) on this our fourth trip to CR, the Vista las Islas Hotel offered to us one of the most satisfying experiences we have had and would highly recommend it.…
A group of 8 of us stayed at Vista Las Islas for my wife's 'special' birthday. Anje and the staff could not have been more accommodating, making it a really special celebration. The hotel is very comfortable and in an idyllic location and the excursions they arranged were excellent.
It is hard to find a place to stay with four kids. This place was perfect! The entrance to two rooms has a exterior locking door so my husband and I could have a private room white the kids had the other room, but still allowed us to feel together and safe. The staff here is amazing! They treated us like family, even anticipating our needs. Our rooms were spotless and the vibe is definitely a mix of authentic, rustic, and modern, all in one well cared for package. My boys loved the outdoor pool table and the girls spent hours in the pool. We stay two nights to do Isla Tortugas and a night kayak bioluminescence tour with Bahia Rica. Both of which we loved. We will definitely be back!
The view from this hotel over the coastline towards Tortuga Island is stunning. The warm water of the infinity pool is the best place to enjoy the view as well. Friendly staff, who were fantastic at helping us organise trips etc. We would definitely stay here again! The only thing to note; you will almost certainly need a 4x4 to reach the hotel. The last mile of the journey is a dirt track, and the final 100m is unbelievably steep. This wasn't advertised to us at any point, but thankfully we did have a 4x4 rental car.
Really beautiful place to stay, rooms were very nice and the pool was amazing! Restaurant was good as well, and the staff were all really friendly and helpful people. Highly recommend Hotel vista las Islas as a place to stay!
Beautiful hotel, lovely setting high in the hills overlooking the bay. Stunning views and lovely staff and owners. We ate in the restaurant every night if our stay because the food was great and the setting was perfect. They arranged taxis and shuttles for us when needed. Owners went above and beyond to be helpful. We didn’t know the ferry only took cash so they gave us what we would need for the crossing. Highly recommend.
This was our 4th trip to Costa Rica and we wanted to try some new places away from all the touristy locations. Paquera is a small town and The Vista Las Islas Hotel is about a 10 minute drive from Paquera, part of which is on a dirt road, and it's well worth the trip. The hotel is clean, has a great breakfast and amazing views! All of the staff were very friendly. We stayed for 3 nights. We had a rental car so we were able to go to Playas Oreganos one day and Montezuma on another day. There really isn't anything else around so if you're looking to unwind and relax, this is the perfect place!
