Keemala harnesses the history of fictitious ancient Phuket settlers and incorporates the story of four different clans within the resort. Keemala’s style blends the indigenous stories of the clans with the decadence of an upscale resort. The architecture is a stark contrast to most hotel accommodation. Keemala’s fantastic cottages, tree houses and pool villas are designed around the unique topographical conditions. Set into the hillside and making use of slopes offering sea views, streams, waterfalls and indigenous trees.

A significant part of the Keemala ethos is to celebrate and cultivate Thai culture. This is strongly perceived in the spa. Treatments and wellness programs are being meticulously designed to utilize bygone techniques, natural herbs used as medicinal remedies in conjunction with old-fashioned pampering. The eight treatment rooms will offer a haven of renewal and the spa will also offer a Thai massage pavilion, steam and sauna rooms along with a fitness room with views of the sea and lush topography, yoga and meditation spaces making Keemala an ideal destination for retreats.

As an extension of the wholesome spirit of Keemala, cuisine offered will also be organic and locally sourced and grown where possible. The menus will incorporate healthy, nutritious and above all delicious meals. Keemala will offer three outlets for dining, the main restaurant, a pool bar, a smaller wine cellar ideal for small parties and meetings and destination dining will be offered to those guests who would like to enjoy the ambience of somewhere distinct, perhaps beside the waterfall, in a separate sala in the grounds or in the comfort of the villa or cottage.

Our big mistake was only staying for two nights!
This was the 2nd of the four hotels that we stayed in when we were in Thailand and it was outstanding! From the excellent service to the stunning location and the 5 star rated food. Everything was pretty much perfect. They just want to go the extra mile to please you. It's also very environmentally friendly, they have done away with 99% single use plastic and plan to go 100% in the next few weeks. It's not cheap but nothing this good ever is. If you fancy a trip down into the town then they provide a shuttle bus 2-3 times a day. Theres plenty of places to eat in the town. The down side is that its fully of rubbish with discarded plastic everywhere. We can't understand why they don't spend money keeping it clean? Considering that tourism must be the bulk of their income? There are also places in town promoting entertainment at the expense of animals; like drugged tigers, monkey shows & elephant rides (No elephant wants to be ridden & is beaten into submission until it eventually yields). The hotel we would definitely go back for, the town being the state its in? probably not.
Dear Valued Guest, We thank you immensely for taking the time to share your experience with us and to the other readers. We appreciate your incredibly kind words especially on the stunning location and 5 star rated food. It was a real pleasure to read your review and to see how much you enjoyed your stay. We always strive to exceed our guests' expectations and I am delighted to know that we succeeded on this occasion. Your gracious comments and praises about our resort and the room have been shared with our associates. Your kind words are very motivating for the team and will help us in continuing to strive for excellence in everything we do. It was a pleasure to have you as our guest Enchanting Regards Jason Allen Villarino General Manager

    Lovely stay
My wife and I recently stayed at a Tree Pool House at the Keemala for two nights. We were in room 306 which is at the top of the resort. On arrival we were greeted by Peach, who looked after us during our stay. To say that she was attentive is an understatement, from getting the buggy to us to move around the resort to booking our table for dinner, she was excellent. The food both at breakfast and dinner was delicious . Our Tree house room was large and very comfortable set over two floors, the lower leading out to our private pool, the upper leading out on to a balcony, which only had a large double hanging seat rather than loungers to relax on. The main pool area is lovely and relaxing with a waterfall cascading into it. There are a few negatives about this resort, you can't walk around as it is built on a steep hill you need to call for a buggy. The resort is not as secluded as possibly the photos implied and the people from room 307 could see us in our pool should they wish. We could also see into the outside shower of the room below us. You are also looking over the town of Kamala and the bay. Overall an excellent stay but having stayed in more exclusive resorts previously we feel that Keemala didn't quite live up to our expectations and possibly over-priced. Would we recommend a stay here ? Yes 2/3 night is sufficient.
Dear Valued Guest, Thank you very much for staying with us, it is an honor to receive your review on Tripadvisor that evaluates the different aspects of our Keemala, such as the architecture, activities, and the panoramic views. 100% guest satisfaction is our top priority, as we recreate the feeling of a “home away from home” to our respected guest. We are currently in process of upgrading our product as we continuously do, and thank your for your constructive feedback. We hope that you will visit us soon again, surely for some more memorable experiences, hopefully for a nice workout visit next time! Enchanting Regards Jason Villarino

If I could give more than 5 stars I would!
Our stay at Keemala was absolutely perfect, there is not one detail that is not completely thought through for your visit. The resort itself is absolutely stunning, the staff were attentive and amazing (EVERY single last one) and the food is scrumptious, even the check in was a memorable experience! We stayed in a Clay Pool cottage and it was beautiful inside out- with special note of the pool and washroom (though really it was all amazing). If you want to feel a part of nature while being absolutely spoiled, here is the ONLY place to stay. I don't have one negative thing to say about Keemala except that I wish we had booked more than 2 nights as it was absolute paradise! Thank you so much for such a memorable, romantic and amazing experience. We will absolutely be back!

Excellent hotel. Deserving of its status as Small Luxury Hotels of the World. We are very appreciative that Keemala did not forfeit all of our 4 days stay when our 4yo then daughter fell ill a day before our check-in date and was admitted last year. During our stay, staff anticipated our needs and volunteered services even before we asked. I love the breakfast served, had dinner there 2 nights in a row… It was raining cats and dogs every day hence we mostly stayed in the villa (plus my husband had fever and flu at that time)… but despite that, still a wonderful holiday bcos of its beautiful villa/hotel/surroundings/excellent services/luxurious amenities….

This property was very big disappointment. The Instagram pictures are very misleading. They do have bird nest cottages but definitely not worth the price and view. We stayed in clay cottage room no 116,which they said was the best cottage from privacy point. We were shocked as from our pool and outdoor sitting area we could see see people walking. The door to enter the villa was like 100 mtrs away from the private pool,so that says the privacy. The place is so overpriced as in August month we paid Rs 68000(800dollars) per night with only breakfast. Being a five star they have only one restaurant for all meals, with no view. They do not have a bar area also. Very far away from any attractions, sightseeing, shopping etc. Overall please stay away from this property as we have travelled multiple times to Phuket and stayed in lots of property, but this was the worst experience,a total ripoff, very very expensive with no benefits. The bathroom looks beautiful, but from functional point is was very difficult as it has no space to open any suitcase. No cabinets or draws provided. The villa was at the ground level, right on the walkway,no way close to the images shown. So please don't get carried away with the insta pictures and rethink before booking Kheemala.

Dear Valued Guest First and foremost, I am very disappointed to hear that your stay was not up to your expectations and would like to extend my sincerest apologies for any frustration this has caused. As a 100% guest satisfaction is our main aim, I am very sorry to hear that we had failed in this occasion. Keemala hosts many distinguished customers from all over the world and we conduct in house and online evaluations where our feedback is very positive, and mention us a luxurious 5 star and top hospitality. Our unique setting sets us apart from the competition and has been proven over and over again. Enchanting Regards Jason Villarino

Keemala is a lovely resort with very beautiful rooms. We appreciated the fresh local fruit every morning and the little goodies. The room was also very clean and maintained to an excellent standard. However we felt the hotel lacks curb appeal, we were wondering if we were in the right place when we arrived as the hotel is right next door to another hotel and a block of holiday apartments. Check in staff were quite abrupt and it spoilt the initial welcome drinks and introductions. Afyer check in, all staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The buggies arrived quickly and were always avaliable and were very appreciated at certain times! You are provided with a map of the resort with various areas to visit. One was the rescue buffaloes which had been pointed out by the check in staff as something to visit. They were located next to the hydroponic garden (also on the map). We went for a look and found 3 sad looking buffaloes tied to a post and a maintenance shed. I'm unsure why this area was even mentioned to us, as it felt like we weren't meant to be there. As the hotel is so keen on being green and sustainable, I was surprised to see the cows kept in this condition. It made us sad and we didn't go to visit then again. The ducks looked very happy with their cottage though! One big issue for us was the slippy stairs/paths throughout the resort, it is a very steep resort and all the paths were covered in green moss. One of our party fell twice, the second time resulting in nasty bruising. We enjoyed the main pool although I reckon its a free for all for sunbeds in the high season as there are very few. Bar staff were very attentive and helpful. There were a lot of young children (toddlers) when we were there which could have ruined a romantic getaway and they were very annoying during breakfast when they were screaming and climbing over the seating. Maybe an age limit at the hotel? Overall it is a beautiful resort just not as 'jungly' as advertised and therefore it doesn't offer the level of privacy we were expecting for the price. It has the potential to deserve it's price tag but we felt that the money asked was steep for the experience we had when compared to other hotels in Phuket for cheaper price points.
