Sunwing Kamala Beach is a family-friendly hotel on the outskirts of the small village of Kamala on the Thai island of Phuket. The style of Sunwing Kamala Beach reflects traditional Thai architecture, with whitewashed walls, overhanging roofs and balconies with wooden rails. This hotel is in an excellent location. It’s right on the beach near really good restaurants. We had a top floor apartment with a nice view of the pool. Cleaning staff were excellent. Breakfast could be chaotic at times and you really need to make sure there is one person at the table to keep the birds from eating your food….. there are alot of birds in the breakfast room. ( not near the buffet station, that’s behind sliding doors). We travelled with our 2 girls aged 10 & 8 and they had no interest in the kid’s entertainment. It’s for toddlers. That was a little disappointing because we thought there might be something in the evening time to entertain our family. After about 8:30pm the hotel is empty and your only option for a beer is to leave the hotel. The food was good here but we only ate dinner once as there wasn’t much of an atmosphere in the place. Perfect place for families with kids. Rooms are spacious, pools are great. Breakfast includes a very nice kids menu/buffet. Two restaurants serve very decent food (Thai and International). Territory of the resort is very nice and well organized

Our family (grandparents, daughter, granddaughter soon 3 years) holiday was perfect in Sunwing Kamala Beach. First of all: our rooms "Royal Pool Access Studio" (numbers third week 3112, 3114 & first week 3118, 3120) were located in the three quiet buildings (rooms numbers start 31..) (remember to wish these IF you like it more quiet even with the kids). Ok: voices from the hallways are really high (but same everywhere at the hotel area): you hear everything from the corridors but mostly / happily families with children are sleeping early but also wake up early... Ok: the bathrooms are good size but a little bit "well-worn". Ok: the Som's is not so cozy, a little bit like "a construction canteen" (but that's what it is with children, isn't it (lol)). IF only they had located SOM's near by the sea, like Fino. First time in my life we are actually lucky that our hotel was fully more correctly over booked: they needed rooms and gave us another holiday in Khao Lak (X10) for one week (between / inside in our three weeks holiday of course). Really nice change with all the same benefits + some extra: lunch & dinner including. With our Khao Lak extra holiday & if anything, I mean anything!, the staff will help you. They are super! Located at kamala beach, its a big resort with multiple pools and has a laundry place too. The resort is well located nearby (10-15min walks or 3-5min by cab) to many attractions and shops varying from cloths, general stores, restaurants and etc.

This resort is an extremely clean and tidy resort with a good sized room (two bedroom room booked, family of five). Breakfast was outstanding – the kids especially loved it. The many pools on offer at the resort give you a lot of options. The water slides were a hit. The restaurant food was of a high standard. Above all the friendliness of all staff was so nice and definitely left an impression on us. Location wise the resort is right on the beach, but we were strongly advised by many locals (and the red flags were out) to not swim at the beach (September—October); luckily the pools were more than enough to keep us entertained for swims. The restaurants outside the resort beach entrance (turn right when exiting) were really really good. An easy stroll into Kamala town. This is a relaxed part of Phuket, none of the Patong type hustle and bustle. Yet close to Patong if that is what you want. The resort was quiet when we were there (September - October 2022). We really hope it picks up for them. Highly recommend this place, especially for family stays. We will be back one day!…

Delightful hotel for all ages. Stayed 11 nights with family celebrating new years eve. This hotel can surely be proud of the fantastic standard in all areas. From check-in, meals, entertainment, tidyness. Rooms are big and spacious, and I loved the extra little touch with amenities in the bathrooms. You can surely forget anything at home, and the hotel will provide it. Food is amazing, and I was surprised how the staff managed to balance so many variations in cuisine. From pizza to greek and everything you can wish for. Our only complain is that there is almost nothing to complain about. If Im gonna point out one thing: The hotel should provide better security around the slides into the pool. Especially in the pool where the bar is located. A lot of children go there unnatended, which can lead to dangerous situations. Other than that, it is definlity a place to go back to!…

Really great facilities and well set up for kids. Kamala beach is lovely. But I just wish I’d known in advance that all of the kids’ entertainment would be in Swedish/Danish. Coming from New Zealand, unfortunately our son just doesn’t understand a thing that’s being said (except for the odd line/verse of a song in English). I wish I had known in advance, because the children’s entertainment and activities were the sole reason for us deciding on this hotel. It makes for a fairly exclusive culture, which gets frustrating after a couple of days. In summary; a really great place to holiday if you have kids who understand Scandinavian languages. We will probably go elsewhere next time.

If I was rating just the hotel, this review would be very different as the location just off the beach is wonderful, the rooms are light, airy, comfortable and modern, with spacious balconies that look over the majestic pool area, which is truly awesome. The gym is decent, it’s great to have Table Tennis and also a pool table. The food was really nice, staff were friendly and it is a super place for families!! Now the negative bit… my wife and I booked for 8 nights, but only stayed 3 because of personal circumstances! Anyway, we agreed with the hotel that because we cancelled at such late notice, a one night penalty would be fair, and they agreed that we should be refunded the other 4 nights! Needless to say, 3 months down the line and we have yet to see the refund and both the hotel and the booking agent have relinquished all responsibilities for making any payments! With over 30 emails sent, and after several phone calls, we are no nearer any refund, hence the poor review!! I resisted saying it was ‘terrible’ as we did have a pleasant stay. Overall, we had a lovely time at the hotel whilst we were in Phuket, but for obvious reasons we won’t be staying there ever again!!…
