We had a wonderful time at this gem of a B&B. We visited at the beginning of October and had a great fall time experience. The island was beautiful in full fall foliage and the agritourism was great as there is a lot of fresh produce and wine production. However the best meals we had by far were homemade at the B&B. Louise and Marc were fantastic hosts and Marc was a phenomenal chef who took great pride in farm to table cooking. We also had a great time each morning over breakfast meeting the other travelers and learning more about the island. The accommodations were great, comfortable, and very quiet. All in all it was a wonderful experience that we cannot recommend highly enough.

Marc and Louise will be sure to take your money (2 days in advance) and not answer their phone. They charged our credit card 2 days before arrival and told us we were not welcome at their B&B because we had a child. No, they did not understand. They just were out for the money, charged the card and said good luck finding another place to stay. This trip was booked almost 3 months in advance. We tried to call them for 3 days straight and they did not answer their phone. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this establishment with no accountability for their devious actions. After talking to many locals in Quebec City, this is a common occurrence for this place. They have been known to demand a 2 night stay (which is illegal) and also charge your card prior to arrival. Stay away!!!!!

Response from danslesbrasdemorphee, Propriétaire at Dans les bras de Morphee B&B

Sorry, it’s not our style to defend ourselves on social media, but we believe this is a special case. Dear Mrs Adrienne, we repeat what we have told you in response to your many emails and phone calls about a change you wanted to make to your reservation. We remind you that when you read the House rules, made your reservation via booking.com, you have voluntarily booked two nights for two people. Following this request, we hastened to retain the most beautiful and romantic room «Sleep and dreams» that can accommodate two adults. Two days before your arrival, you asked us to add another person under your reservation. Unfortunately your last minute change could not be allowed because the room held under your name definitely could not accommodate three people. We also added that sadly the other rooms were all booked for other guests. Which means our three-person room wasn’t available to you and your family. This is so sad … Because of your last-minute change request; we could no longer accommodate you. Without hesitation, we offered you two things in order to lighten the costs that this situation created for you. As we often offer in this kind of situation, we offered to charge you only one night instead of two and try to re-rent the room “sleep and dreams” to our next customer interested in staying with us during these two days. If we were successful we would have been so happy to reimburse you your entire stay. In our view, this would have been the ideal way to deal with this situation. Unfortunately, in a fit of rage, you declined our offer. And that’s when everything went south. You have threatened, harassed, and intimidated us to the point where we have felt in terrible danger under our own roof. One of the terrible things you’ve done to us is threaten to break into our home, wreak havoc, and ensure that our customers are disrupted by your actions. So worried about your actions via e-mails and phone calls, we had to inform the police and seek advice on how best to react to your threatening remarks. For three long days we had to stand on guard. Rest assured that we are very sorry about this situation. We know that this story is still not over for you . You promised us a tough life. You threatened us with so many things. One is to destroy our reputation on the web. Here it is. We are convinced that this sad story could have been avoided if our offer had been accepted. And even better, if we would have known in advance that you intended to add a third person to your reservation. Sincerely, Marc and Louise Bed and breakfast, Dans les bras de Morphee

We have to say that in all of the B&B’s we have visited over the years, the breakfasts in this B&B were the most elegantly served breakfasts we have ever had. It was as if we were having dinner in a 5-star restaurant. The breakfast included several courses, and a dessert. One breakfast included a chocolate mousse type of dessert which was amazing. Breakfast was at a set time, and ideally you will want to leave at least an hour in the morning to enjoy the meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. The home itself, is quite old, but has been added on to and remodeled. We stayed in the Wind’s Wing room, on the 2nd floor, overlooking the side garden. We had an ensuite bathroom, and the bed was comfortable and room clean. There was one wall in our room that included some of the original stone from when the home was first built. We had no issues with Wifi. Both Louise and Marc were very welcoming, and patient with our attempts in French. (We learned that most people in the Île d'Orléans were solely French speaking). Both Louise and Marc are bilingual, but Louise took time to help us with our French which was greatly appreciated. There is a small gift shop at the entrance, with local maple syrups. There is also a large sitting area/living room, if traveling with a family or group. While the address is on the main home that goes around the island, the B&B is located up a steep driveway and not on the road itself, and thus it was very quiet. While there is a sign on the main road for the B&B, it is easy to miss the driveway, especially at night, and it took us several times with our GPS to locate the entrance. We loved our visit to the B&B and in spending a day exploring Île d'Orléans. Many thanks to Louise and Marc for your lovely hospitality and absolutely outstanding breakfasts.

We chose to return here because of the idyllic location, the lovely building, the great breakfast and especially the very congenial couple who host. The isolation is tranquil, the gardens are pretty and the view of the St. Lawrence is impressive. The five guest suites are relatively large, well appointed, separated from each other and very comfortable. Be aware that more than average challenging staircases might be involved. Breakfast is shared with the other guests at a family table, is elaborate, delicious and friendly. Credit card payments can be complicated and cash is best. The overall experience is relaxing, impeccably clean and refreshing. Service is kind, thoughtful, and attentive. We were very happy to have returned.

This is THE PLACE TO BE IN!!! It's location, it's garden with flowers and edible plants, it's ducks and chicken and goats.... Everything brings calmness and tranquility. Marc and Louise are such soulful people. They treated us with love and respect. The rooms are clean, the artifacts in auberge are very tastefully selected. Their food is excellent. Mark is a master of cuisine imagination. He is also a beekeeper: sells his own honey; he makes his own maple syrup and jams from the garden's berries. It's very close to Quebec City. Please come here and enjoy your stay.
