This was my first trip to the Island and was presently surprised that there were places to visit & lots of fresh produce to purchase. We chose this B&B because it looked the nicest & was available on short notice. As mentioned the gourmet breakfast was impressive & the hosts Marc & Louise are very gracious in their presentation and honestly try to make your stay enjoyable. The grounds are inviting to walk around & the view was a beautiful Now I will say the only negative which truly surprised me is that even though they take your credit card info for reservation , when it comes time to pay , they ONLY take CASH. Apparently this was mentioned to my wife when setting up the reservation on the phone , & she forgot to tell me until checkout day , but this is the first time I have experienced this. A inconvenience hunting around for a ATM on the island there are only 2 &the first was out of cash. I think if this is the policy then it should be stated very clearly on the website. NOTE just a tip the bridge over to the Island gets backed up quite frequently on the wknd during the day.…
Normally I do not do repeat reviews, but it has been three years since we stayed at Dans les bras de Morphee due to COVID restrictions. We have sorely missed this place. Now that the border between the US and Canada is easier to cross we decided to return. Marc and Louise are most gracious hosts. They are a fantastic resource for places to eat and things to do on and off the island. They are also continually improving the property. Since our last visit they have added a building near the river. It is a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the scenic area. Marc prepares the most wonderful three course breakfasts using ingredients from his garden and the local area. The meals are presented with style. Breakfast is a delight. The rooms are well appointed. It is a quiet relaxing place to be with someone you love. It was nice to see they have not missed a step in spite of challenges of COVID. We are happy to resume our annual visits.…
There were many 5 star qualities like the gourmet breakfasts and the property which is gorgeous but the ambiance and host treatment to us was a little stiff. Inside the home was not very cozy or comfortable for the price paid compared to other bed and breakfasts we stayed in throughout Quebec.
We’d highly recommend this beautiful auberge. It is set in beautiful gardens that the owners take great care over. Marc and Louise are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. They also took exceptional care over Covid precautions. The breakfasts are so delicious. Thank you for a lovely stay.
We had a wonderful time at this gem of a B&B. We visited at the beginning of October and had a great fall time experience. The island was beautiful in full fall foliage and the agritourism was great as there is a lot of fresh produce and wine production. However the best meals we had by far were homemade at the B&B. Louise and Marc were fantastic hosts and Marc was a phenomenal chef who took great pride in farm to table cooking. We also had a great time each morning over breakfast meeting the other travelers and learning more about the island. The accommodations were great, comfortable, and very quiet. All in all it was a wonderful experience that we cannot recommend highly enough.
Marc and Louise will be sure to take your money (2 days in advance) and not answer their phone. They charged our credit card 2 days before arrival and told us we were not welcome at their B&B because we had a child. No, they did not understand. They just were out for the money, charged the card and said good luck finding another place to stay. This trip was booked almost 3 months in advance. We tried to call them for 3 days straight and they did not answer their phone. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this establishment with no accountability for their devious actions. After talking to many locals in Quebec City, this is a common occurrence for this place. They have been known to demand a 2 night stay (which is illegal) and also charge your card prior to arrival. Stay away!!!!!…
We have to say that in all of the B&B’s we have visited over the years, the breakfasts in this B&B were the most elegantly served breakfasts we have ever had. It was as if we were having dinner in a 5-star restaurant. The breakfast included several courses, and a dessert. One breakfast included a chocolate mousse type of dessert which was amazing. Breakfast was at a set time, and ideally you will want to leave at least an hour in the morning to enjoy the meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. The home itself, is quite old, but has been added on to and remodeled. We stayed in the Wind’s Wing room, on the 2nd floor, overlooking the side garden. We had an ensuite bathroom, and the bed was comfortable and room clean. There was one wall in our room that included some of the original stone from when the home was first built. We had no issues with Wifi. Both Louise and Marc were very welcoming, and patient with our attempts in French. (We learned that most people in the Île d'Orléans were solely French speaking). Both Louise and Marc are bilingual, but Louise took time to help us with our French which was greatly appreciated. There is a small gift shop at the entrance, with local maple syrups. There is also a large sitting area/living room, if traveling with a family or group. While the address is on the main home that goes around the island, the B&B is located up a steep driveway and not on the road itself, and thus it was very quiet. While there is a sign on the main road for the B&B, it is easy to miss the driveway, especially at night, and it took us several times with our GPS to locate the entrance. We loved our visit to the B&B and in spending a day exploring Île d'Orléans. Many thanks to Louise and Marc for your lovely hospitality and absolutely outstanding breakfasts.…
We chose to return here because of the idyllic location, the lovely building, the great breakfast and especially the very congenial couple who host. The isolation is tranquil, the gardens are pretty and the view of the St. Lawrence is impressive. The five guest suites are relatively large, well appointed, separated from each other and very comfortable. Be aware that more than average challenging staircases might be involved. Breakfast is shared with the other guests at a family table, is elaborate, delicious and friendly. Credit card payments can be complicated and cash is best. The overall experience is relaxing, impeccably clean and refreshing. Service is kind, thoughtful, and attentive. We were very happy to have returned.
This is THE PLACE TO BE IN!!! It's location, it's garden with flowers and edible plants, it's ducks and chicken and goats.... Everything brings calmness and tranquility. Marc and Louise are such soulful people. They treated us with love and respect. The rooms are clean, the artifacts in auberge are very tastefully selected. Their food is excellent. Mark is a master of cuisine imagination. He is also a beekeeper: sells his own honey; he makes his own maple syrup and jams from the garden's berries. It's very close to Quebec City. Please come here and enjoy your stay.
The B&B is located on a beautiful island just 20 minutes from Quebec City. The location is unique with a wonderful view on the St. Lawrence among flowerbeds and meadows. The cottage is furnished with care with a classic style remanding of a doll house. The hosts are kind and happy to help and chat. Breakfast is a must! Three courses changing every day, as in a fine dining restaurant. Everything is homemade from yogurts to bread. Unforgettable!
