This is the second year we have stopped at this cafe for a bacon sandwich on the C2C. We find the owners to be extremely friendly and welcoming even when there was 17 of us that arrived all at once and all wanted a bacon sandwich and hot drink! It should DEFINITELY be a stopping point on your own C2C... More

Not the fittest bunch of cyclists so even more rewarding when you get there. We were running late but the owners made us feel very welcome, took our evening meal orders as we arrived which allowed to get showered and sort ourselves out. The evening meal was outstanding. Fantastic nights sleep as it is so far away from the road... More

Warm welcome and a comfortable room. The food was excellent at both dinner and breakfast. This is an extraordinary place to stay and a remarkable achievement for the owners who created this place and who show an obvious desire to make guests welcome and comfortable

What a brilliant find Parkhead Station was! Myself and my husband had just finished a day of cycling in the wind on our C2C challenge. We had a lovely welcome when we arrived shattered and cold from the owners Lorraine and Terry. The rooms were perfect, lovely and warm and had everything you needed. We had an evening meal and... A lovely warm welcome and super comfy accommodation. Some lovely views from here and the lift down to Stanhope was most welcome Thank You! The walk back from the pub is better than any taxi if you don't mind a steep incline.. Highly recommended

We have just been here for Sunday lunch. We were visiting family in Stanhope and my aunt said she would like to give this place a try as she had heard good things about it. We booked a table just to be sure we could get in. The tea room/ restaurant is small but we had a table for 4/5.... More

Fantastic welcoming place to stay. Nothing was too much trouble for Lorraine even though her husband was poorly and she was on her own. We hadn't pre booked an evening meal and didn't arrive till 7pm but she still made us all some food which was excellent. I can't fault the place or staff and have no idea why people... More

At the end of a long, solo, wet day of cycling, climbing some of the steepest hills in England, this place was an absolute haven. I came back from locking my bike in their storage, to find a lovely pot of tea awaiting me. Dinner was a very ample and tasty meal, with a nice variety of drinks. Super showers... More

This cafe is in a remote spot on Waskerley Common but it's selling point is it is on the C2C cycle route. I cycled up to the cafe from Durham and took coffee and cake to refuel. The cafe was a haven on a chilly damp day. The staff are friendly and I must say the Sunday lunch on offer... More

This is such a good find, we have been a couple of times since a friend recommended it to us. Always had a lovely welcome. This particular visit was for Sunday lunch even though three of us are vegetarians it was no problem for the chef who served us a lovely meal, including vegetarian gravy. Our friend said the chicken... More
