We stayed at Barritshayes in the bed and breakfast part of the house. It's self contained with your own entrance, dining area (great for family games in the evening), conservatory and access directly out onto the swimming pool. We had booked this for our daughter's 18th and we had the most amazing weekend. Liz and Gordon are the most welcoming hosts and made the weekend a complete success. It's the people who run such businesses who make your stay that much better. Barritshayes itself is set in stunning rolling Devon countryside with walks from the door although there is enough to keep you busy here with the pool, tennis court, games room and grounds to explore. We did go for a lovely coast oath walk from Beer to Branscombe (20 mins drive away and the walk was about 2 hrs, 4 miles). In the afternoon, we swam in the pool (heated), played tennis and croquet. Everyone had run out of energy for table tennis, table football, darts or pool! The bed and breakfast rooms at Barritshayes are extremely comfortable and very well appointed with everything you need including use of a small fridge on the landing. The breakfast was simply wonderful with plenty of choice (you need to fill in a form the night before with your cooked breakfast choices etc). Liz cooked us a perfect breakfast and Gordon was marvellous at 'front of house'. They make a great team. In all, the birthday weekend was a huge success for which we are very grateful. Our sincere thanks to Gordon and Liz for their supreme hospitality, flexibility & for letting us share their fabulous house and facilities making it a weekend to treasure. We will definitely be back!

I would recommend Barrithayes to everyone. Located in Colyton in the Devon valleys; most stunning area 10 mins from Dorset too . Views are spectacular with great local amenities. The cottages are stunning and really have everything you need. So homely that you feel part of the furniture. They have superb pool, tennis court, croquet lawn and games room to keep you busy for hours. Wildlife and animals in abundance with horses, cows and sheep all bird life you can imagine on your door step. The walks in the area are simply stunning. The local towns like Lyme Regis (Dorset)has a stunning beach and fresh fish and cute shops. Beer (Devon) is also stunning with beautiful views. Great crab sandwiches. We are 100% returning for another visit as there is so many things to do that we didn’t fit in and going to stay longer. The owners are the friendliest, informative, welcoming and lovely people. You will have the best time Debbie Surrey

We had a fabulous week staying in Granary cottage, Mum, Dad, 8 year old daughter and poodle! Excellent facilities including full size tennis court, games room with table tennis, pool table and table football and a heated outdoor swimming pool! It was such a treat to be able to swim outside in May! The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog and had lovely views. Nearby Colyton, which is charming with thatched cottages has a few pubs, chippy, butchers and shops. Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Beer all within easy reach. We look forward to seeing you again Gordon and Liz and thank you for being wonderful hosts 😊

Thank you, Gordon and Liz, for our very enjoyable long weekend in Swallow's Cabin. We loved the views, the horses, Nigel the cat and the wonderful peace and quiet. We also loved the cosy cabin with its relaxing electric stove and large windows to see the birds in the daytime and the glorious stars at night. And all for a very reasonable price too! We really hope to visit again and would recommend Swallow's Cabin to anyone. Thanks!
