The hospitality, sweetness and generosity of Julie, the owner is out of this world. She made our stay very memorable not least by the excellent dinners she prepared for us. If you like a bottle of wine at your dinner, avoid the Spanish house wine, but prefer the French St. Emilion, which is quite nice and very cheap. Our room... More

Thank you Trip advisor for showing us this place to stay. We had already stayed in the B and B and the Chateau in the same village but this was something else. Great welcome, lovely room and magnificent evening meal. What can we say - fabulous salad, fish baked with potatoes and veg followed with cheese and pears in red... More

The view from this establishment is just spectacular. This alone is worth a visit. Mine Hostess, Julie, is charming, interesting and attentive. Speaks 4 languages but says that her Cambodian is very rusty! The rooms are themed on the Round Table. We were in Sir Galahad which boasted a full window looking over the valley. Dinner was outstanding. Absolutely delicious.... More

Our family of 4 stayed for 3 nights in the middle of June and enjoyed a lot of our stay. We had two rooms, the other with stunning wiew and both of them, as in the whole hotel, with interesting medieval style decoration. It was really relaxing just to sit and admire the landscape opening from the window - the... More

The view out of the restaurant/bar is phenomenal, and the medieval décor suits it well. I would recommend the evening meals; Julie is a great cook. All the meals are served at a communal table, so you get to meet your fellow travellers and share tips on the best walks nearby.

We spent one night here with friends on a recent trip to the Basque region. It is a lovely place and although work is still going on this does not detract from the experience. The young couple who own this place are putting their heart and soul into its development and everything is being done to a very high standard... More

We had three lovely days here, and there is so much that is exceptional about this place. Firstly, the location and views are extraordinary, I could not actually believe that the view was as good as in the photographs. Secondly, the hotel itself is charming, I liked the mediaeval style theme, it added to the pleasure of the holiday, and... More

This was our last stop in France before hopping over the border to Spain and we were sad to leave it. The medieval theme is very charming and the finishings in the room are high quality. Dinner was the best we had in the country (huge portions!) and the views have to be seen to be believed. We travelled in... More

La Toison d'Or is at the top of a road which is about 2km from the main road, with quite a few hairpin bends - but the view is worth it! Julie is a wonderful hostess and we had the room which has been completed which is in medieval style - which is quite beautiful but could do with a... More

The hotel "Auberge Toison D'Or" is situated in the small and quiet vilage of Cette-Eygun. The location is excellent, with panoramic views of the Alps (Aspe Valley) The owner is friendly and courteous, speaking English, French and Spanish. The hotel has 5 apartments. Ours was in the medieval style, very beautiful, but there were problems in heating. The windows have... More
