I would 100% recommend staying here if you're in the area. They are simple motel style units and you'll to plan to be self catering as its remote but the views are incredible and rooms very large. Really nice setup, gutted we missed the dolphins in the bay!

We had a 3 night stay here (8-11, Nov 2015) stunning views, with a spacious and well appointed room, I doubt if we will pass that way again but if we did we would have to stay there again, tip ... Keep your camera with you or you might miss that penguin pic ..

180 degree beach views. Beautifully clean and well appointed unit. Very accommodating hosts, kind and friendly. Sun comes up through front windows a beautiful way to start the day. A lovely place to stay, about 5 m from the sand! Enjoy! I will be returning.

Whilst on a driving tour of NZ was advised to include a trip to the Caitlins and am glad I did. Had booked for 3 nights originally and ended up extending my visit by another night as it was a great place to stay and get away from it all. Room was clean and tidy and the views from it...

My partner and I recently stayed in this lovely place. Long story short- lovely service, amazing room, fantastic view, very clean and modern. Loved every second of it. Definitely staying here every time we travel down those ways again. Recommending this to all of my Family and friends.

On arrival, we were surprised by the size of this motel room, which had a settee, armchairs and a table with chairs. The main room and the en-suite were spotlessly clean. We had booked a beachfront unit, so we had stunning views and had easy access to the beach. In the morning, we saw dolphins swimming. This motel is small...

We've stayed twice at the bach/crib next door (same owner), but this was our first time staying at Salthouse. Whenever we tried staying at Salthouse before, it was always fully booked. The last few times we've tried booking, both the Salthouse and bach were booked weeks in advance (this was for February-March). This place is popular, and rightly so. Our...

On he beach, excellent facilities...large shower cubicle with shower hose. Plenty of walks and interesting sights...petrified forest, penguins, seals and stunning coastline...accessABLE walks and views. Not many restaurants or shops, so be prepared to fend for yourself in he kitchenette! We stopped at The Point on the way, by Kaka Point..great pub, cafe, restaurant with full access available.

This is a gem in many ways. Val is a lovely hostess. The space is nice, clean, and with everything you need. You will definitely want to bring food to self-cater as there isn't much to buy in the Catlins. The reason to come here is that it is so beautiful and peaceful. The 3 rooms all have stunning views...

We really loved staying here, unfortunately we only had one night booked, would love to visit again for longer. When the owner opened the door to our room we just said "wow" the view is outstanding and the room is well presented , beautifully clean and every comfort is provided. The continental breakfast next morning was generous and enjoyable, very...
