Stayed at The George for two nights- what an incredible time. While travelling all over South Africa and the surrounds, eShowe and The George must certainly rate as one of the top spots in South Africa. Awesome rooms, amazing stuff and super friendly locals make this a great option as a base to explore Zululand and the surrounds. Well done... More

But to be totally honest this hotel is located in the middle of nowhere and by comparison the places in the area it is actually very grand. There is a bar. A very good dining room where I had a steak comparable... More

We had such a wonderful time at the George Hotel. Beautifully furnished and decorated with antiques, art and stunning historical/vintage photos. There newly renovated rooms add a modern touch to the old world feel of the hotel. Loved reading the beautiful coffee table book about the story and history of the Zulu Blonde beer, that is brewed at The George... More

A wonderful little hotel in Eshowe. The staff are friendly, the hotel is clean and homely and there was a great atmosphere in the bar. The Zulu Blonde Beer is the best!!! It also has an interesting little art gallery too.

Good fun at the calabash great hospitality, and tolerance of people like me. 48 years old,and acting like a 10year old a truly great experience.A great service being taken to battle sites, individual Zulu kraals, and other historical sites. I left my heart there and now consider the George to be my new home.

Great hotel to stay and experience the true essenence of Zululand. We used it as a 'base-camp' as we had several day trips organised to see and experience the local culture. Our 'host' at the hotel was a man by the name of Richard Chennells. His knowledge was awe-inspiring. He may have been tricking us a little as 'foreigners' but... More

On my first visit to South Africa from the UK I was treated to a total unique experience of the George Hotel, the inner decor is quirky and individual, I found myself reading into the art on the wall...a real sense of intrigue really did ensue! The bar at the back of the hotel was stunning it was just a... More
