Oh my I’ve fallen in love with this lodge. I loved everything about it. The location, the garden, the creek, the waterfall and it’s beautiful sound. The lodge lounge and dining room. So warm and cozy. The all of the meals were delicious. Amazing
Returning to this region after over ten years, we were thrilled with the development of the region. Sipi river lodge is a beautiful stopover when visiting Sipi falls. The menu is all in US dollars, a bit pricey and awkward for local tourists. Cinnamon Spice latte was nice, the fresh juice was acceptable, so was the English tea. We had the services of a great guide who led us to the falls which were three in number . It is highly recommended to wear right footwear when visiting the falls. The cottages are excellent with beautiful views especially Chepkui cottage.
Three beautiful waterfalls, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, Mount Elgon and all that it offers, coffee tours, cooler temperatures, lush greenery, open fire in the evening, spectacular sunsets from the Mount Elgon plateau, excellent and consistent food, great variety of drinks, in house roasted, organic coffee, comfy couches and loads of books and Nat Geo magazines... Spent 4 days at Sipi River Lodge and I cannot recommend it enough. It offers a great mix of outdoor activities and relaxation. I hiked in the mornings. There are endless amounts of trails of varying difficulties with local guides who are very knowledgeable and fun. I napped mid-afternoon! I ate cake in the evening, watched the sunset and returned to the lodge to an elusive treat in Africa - an open fire...! The temperatures are cooler here because of altitude and the open fires and big blankets remind me of home. The food was excellent across our four days - including appropriate vegetarian/vegan options. I found the staff very helpful if informed about any dietary preferences in advance. You can watch as the staff roast their own coffee here - bought from the local farmers - and get as much of it as you can. I bought some to bring home. The accommodation offered varied - I stayed in a banda which was perfect, there is no toilet. The cottages looked very nice with direct views of the falls.…
The lodge is located near Sipi falls, the water falls produces a wonderful natural sound for all nature lovers. to conclude every thing , u must hike around. its near the Kapchorwa high way so sometimes the sound of racing vehicles are expected
The rooms are very comfortable and we had a nice view of the waterfall. The double showers were warm and novel. Although our neighbours had a leaking roof onto their children’s beds. Our informative and solicitous guide took us on some lovely walks around the villages. The staff are friendly and helpful. The garden is beautiful and the family pets are charming. The breakfasts are good. But much of the the food is stodgy, and at $20 per person per head, it is very overpriced. They should try to refine a simple menu of less complex dishes and do them to a higher standard. Learning how to cook pasta properly would be a good start. We made a good decision towards the end of our stay by eating down the road at Endiro Cafe.
It’s quite a gem when you stop by- wonderful staff but make sure you carry something warm coz it’s nippy all through the day because of its location- incredible access to the sipi falls and the resident guide Bashir makes your trip worthwhile. Tasted their in-house honey- to “die for”- the bees are happy to share their gold with you I was drawn to the wonderful fireplace inside the lodge as well as beautiful toilets heehee
A perfect setting and they will make you feel like a personal guest in their home. Great food is served in the cozy lodge, sit by the fire and enjoy a drink or some quiet time. A place you can relax, enjoy the beautiful countryside, and just unwind. One of the few places in Uganda that you can enjoy a real cup of Arabica coffee grown onsite! Fred will roast up a fresh batch over an open fire
Had a lovely stay in the waterfall cottage - amazing view of the waterfall, great staff, lovely food. Overall cannot recommend highly enough! We went for a weekend away from Kampala and found it relaxing and lovely. The activities offered are also great - we did waterfall repelling/abseiling with Tony and highly recommend.
Sipi river lodge, nearby the edge of the second waterfall of Mount Elgon. Beautifully located, with the river just passing by, well treated gardens, nice hut houses, very comfortable and clean. The lodge is ran by an excellent couple, the ambience is very relaxing, good jazzy music, excellent food, and a fireplace for a glass of wine or some coffee. The breakfast way of the continental type one of the best I ever had in Uganda. If you are visiting Sipi falls I totally recommend this lodge.
This was our first stop on a 20-day trip around Uganda. We stayed in the Kapsurur Cottage which was quaint, comfortable and fantastic. Within the first 10 minutes of arriving, we wished we had more nights to stay. From the back porch you could view the waterfalls and bask in the nature around you. The room was clean, cozy and spacious, and we always had hot running water. The main lodge where the restaurant is located is extremely pleasant with a fire place and two chairs placed in front like it was waiting for us to sit there. The food was very good, but the coffee was exceptional; the the best I have had in 20 days in Uganda, hands down. The next morning we went on the waterfalls hike, and were definitely glad to have our trekking poles. They also offered walking sticks in case we didn’t have them. The hike was beautiful as we got to see all three water falls, a man-made cave, and the farm-lands of the local people. Moses, our guide, was exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and pleasant to be around. If you have the opportunity, have him teach you the methods of picking, fermenting, peeling, roasting, grinding, and brewing local Sipi coffee and you won’t be disappointed. He might even teach you a song or two that will be stuck in your head for the days that follow. We WILL be returning to Sipi River Lodge on our next trip to Uganda. Stay here many nights, drink a lot of coffee, and enjoy the beauty and comfort that Sipi River Lodge has to offer!…
