We had two nights in this wonderful hotel and we could not fault anything! We wanted a quiet stay where we could relax with a view and we certainly achieved that! The staff and owners were so friendly and we felt like part of the family immediately. Maurice the restaurant manager was incredible, giving us a bespoke, friendly and professional service; morning, noon and night! In fact all the staff were so helpful, approachable and not at all overbearing! We were a little concerned that with the resort being so remote the additional food (breakfast is included - and amazing!) and products would be quite pricey due to us being a captive audience, but we were very pleasantly surprised at the fantastic value for money! We really did feel valued and like we were there to be ‘looked after’ rather than just ‘customers’. I highly recommend the Vida Mountain Resort and Spa and definitely encourage anyone staying there to book a massage with Laura, she is incredibly talented! The only warning I would have is that if travelling by car from the north (Liberia, Monteverde etc) then to continue along Route 1 all the way to San Ramon before you turn off up into the mountains as we followed Google Maps along the 742 and regretted it as the road surface was, well, non existent! It was still without a doubt worth the drive though! A truly amazing hidden gem, we look forward to returning on our next visit to Costa Rica!

After bouncing over Costa Rica’s notorious back roads, you will not be prepared for what awaits you when you turn into the Vida Mountain Resort. Manicured grounds led us to a bright, spacious room looking out over the infinity pool and a sweeping view across the hills all the way to the Pacific Ocean in the distance. Wow! This small, family-owned resort is a true gem. The service and food were excellent. We were treated to a private sound healing session in the yoga studio, which was a totally soothing experience new to us. There are nature trails to explore and a hot tub to enjoy when you come out of the pool. We did not want to leave!

This resort is remote and yes it’s off some crazy roads but I live in the country in the US so it didn’t bother me at all. We got to the resort late and we were met by awesome staff who kept the restaurant open for just me and my daughters.
June is rainy season in Costa Rica and it rained pretty much the entire 48 hours we were there. It was peaceful I wish we could have enjoyed the views that we knew were out there but rain is rain.
Erica was wonderful for spa services. The restaurant was good, remember it’s remote so that seemed to be our only option but the chef did great on most of what we ordered.
Ok so my favorite thing was the yoga Shala. Ya’ll if you practice yoga or meditation this building and the thought and intention behind it is incredible. The perfect location for a yoga retreat during the non rainy season. The other favorite spot of mine was the tea room. It was like being transported to India in a cosey colorful plush zen space Osho books and all. I think I read in there for 2 hours while it rained.
Alexandria, the manager is the sweetest and so helpful to us. And again the rest of the staff just really attentive and nice.
A couple of things we missed somehow were shuttle pricing to the airport so check on that before you go. Also, the water heaters are solar so if there’s not a lot of sun you’re going to not have the warmest shower but it’s an eco resort so expect that.

I’d go back but if I was in lodging there that had a kitchen I’d bring food for snacks or breakfast so you’re not relying on the restaurant for every meal.

Tranquil, beautiful, clean with really attentive people on site. Perfect for a remote yoga retreat, couples romantic getaway or some time with grown children or friends in a calm serene environment on top of the mountain jungle.

My mom and I visited Vida Mountain resort and Spa in February. We participated in the Evolve yoga retreat, put on by Mikaela Millington.

Over and above the exceptional yoga, mediation and excursions... The service, food and sunsets we’re exceptional! We had the best vegetarian meals and fresh juices prepared for us daily. I left Vida Mountain completely restored!

We will miss this beautiful place and people.

Until next time :)

Stunning views and scenery from any point on the campus. The food is excellent, and the service / staff top-notch. The lodging was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The number of amenities relative to the maximum occupancy is over the top! This is the perfect place for retreats, yoga or meditation workshops. The place has a very well-cared for look and feeling throughout.

My partner and I attended a yoga retreat at the Vida Mountain Resort & Spa. We rented the Zen Cabin (the private suite) for one week and were blown away by its beauty. The private jacuzzi, the elegant view, and the stunning bathroom were a few of the many highlights from our stay. Not to mention the friendly and welcoming staff, the DELICIOUS food, and all of the wonderful amenities available on the resort including the massage and steam room. The breathtaking sunset views were something out of a dream. All in all, our trip was one in a lifetime and we certainly would love to visit again.

This mountain retreat is perfect for the land lovers. The sceneries are breathtaking.
So much forest therapy and nature all around.

Plus the rooms are very clean, the staff is friendly and the locals are knowledgeable. If you are looking for a retreat in nature to experience the Pura Vida life, I highly recommend Vida Mountain. Local destinations. Local food. Local coffee. Local life.
