There are a lot of places in Panglao to stay but not this dump. Food is bad and expensive. The room is stinky and old. The water comes straight from the sea. The only saving grace are the employees. They were pleasant.
The beach is good and the pools are nice. The breakfast buffet is decent; good variety, but the food wasn't kept very hot. Room was mixed; beds were fine, shower didn't work, but bathroom was fine otherwise.
The room reeks like sewer when the air-conditioning is turned off. When we first went inside our room which was located across the restaurant I thought somebody has just use the toilet. The bath is not user friendly and the water comes straight from the sea ( very salty ). One time my wife was taking a shower when black flakes starts coming out of it. The saving grace is that the hotel personnel were friendly, pleasant and hard working. The free buffet breakfast was awful. All are canned ( corned beer and fish ) and the fruit drinks are powder like Tang. The phoney safe deposit box is just on the shelf in the closet. Anybody can just take it out of the room with your valuables. I wouldn't come back here even if its free.
The good: Its on the beach The bad: Expect a lot of debris and other stuff on the beach. Got one visit from housekeeping during out 3 night stay - the other days we had to clean your own room. Even though the "please clean my room" sigh was on the door at all times. You get one (1) towel for everything - the pool , beach , showering, washing hands ect. Breakfast is basic and noting is cooled or heated. Everything is just luke warm. The reasturant is very slow and the western dishes we orders were pretty close to uneatable - even getting your bill takes forever. Dont bother going here. There are much better options just up at the main road. We will not be back.
The rooms were nice. The shower water was quite salty, but tolerable. The beachfromt is REALLY nice but the water is shallow for several meters. We booked an island hopping tour for 2,500Php, but were not informed that the fees for snorkeling and other activities have an additional charge. We were on a boat without a lifevest (and we had a baby with us!) and they delivered us to Balicasag island to a shack with QUESTIONABLE HYGIENE and SEVERELY OVERPRICED FOOD FOR QUALITY. Good that we had cash with us, otherwise it would have been all in vain. The resort has A SEVERELY OVERPRICED SOUVENIR SHOP that sells everything from mosquito repellant to bikinis. A 5L bottle of Distilled water costs 200php there, but just 70php outside. TIP: If you are going for a countryside tour, ask your driver to stop by a store where you can buy your neccessities. You can bring water, but not alcoholic beverages. The restaurant staff is mostly composed of OJTs, and they are quite slow and unsure of everything. Food is nice. The sunrise and sunset are amazibg. ❤…
