Away from the bustle of the city, and at 1,500 feet above sea level, the Troon managed 520 acre resort provides guests with a secluded ambiance in a pleasant climate, supported by friendly service and excellent accommodation, dining, sporting and recreational facilities.
I stayed here last weekend with my family and was absolutely delighted with this beautiful property. It was serene, the rooms were very clean and very well maintained, food was absolutely great and the staff were so very helpful and accommodating. It was such an enjoyable trip and my whole family immensely enjoyed it. The property overall was adhering very well to all the Co-vid regulations - servers were constantly wearing masks and gloves, 24 hour sanitation of rooms prior to the next stay etc.
I would specially like to thank Asiri for his incredible hospitality and for being so accommodating of all my requests. I would definitely be visiting Victoria again!

Initially we had to put some effort into contacting this place and getting a price list. The hotel is surrounded by a golf course which makes a beautiful landscape. We went there for a stay, starting the meal plan from lunch. The Check In process was quick. We booked a deluxe room for the stay, and the room was spacious. The room was facing the golf course. The colour combination used for the room was unique and relaxing. The room had an air conditioner and ceiling fan, which is really good as some may not prefer air conditioners. It would be great if they can mop the floor before handing it over to guests. Inside the hotel premises you can find a swimming pool, tennis court etc. Moreover you can try out the hiking destinations and trekking options provided by the hotel. We took a walk to the Araliya deck located within hotel premises with the naturalist, and he explained a lot about the premises and behaviors of animals. The food was delicious and they had few options to select from. Maybe due to low occupancy, they only provided a set menu option. They had both Sri Lankan and English breakfast options. I Especially need to mention that the staff at the restaurant was professional. However I noticed that only a few people were there to handle the restaurant at the dinner, hence the service was a bit slow. I prefer this place for a long relaxing stay again. As a suggestion, it would be good if you can provide a facility to learn to play golf there.

Looking for a Destination Wedding location amidst the pandemic was a real pain in the neck. After looking at several locations we visited Victoria Golf & Country Resort and the moment we set foot on the premises we knew this was THE PLACE! The relaxed and professional approach of Mr.Rukman immediately laid to rest all the doubts as to where we would celebrate the best day of our lives. With Rukman, nothing was ever too much to ask for, and questions were always answered super fast.
We would be failing in our duties, if we did not mention how Rukman saved the day for us. The Tiffany Chairs we ordered (from a well recognised vendor), were not suitable to be used for any event. We had already made up our minds about the chairs, when Rukman went way out of his way to change the chairs within a matter of 45 minutes which saved us from utter embarrassment.
The service & venue apart, the food was top-notch.
All of our guests had a wonderful time and couldn’t praise the venue, the food & the service enough.
It was so lovely to see it all come together so beautifully on our day – and that is all down to you guys; Rukman, Bashana, Asanka & the team.

Visited this hotel few weeks back and following serious lapses experienced, 1. Rude behaviours from staff, specially from ground keepers and security 2. FOC activities were not available due to various reasons. 3. Eventhough the nice landscaping images are shown in the photos, it was not allowed visitors visit and enjoy those locations. Simply they will not let you to stay on the grass, it is exclusively for golf players 4. Clear discrimination in hospitality between members and guests. Members are allowed to be in the restaurant but not guests, guests are not allowed to walk or stay on the grass(even in non-golf playing areas) guests cannot stay 5. We went with 5 small kids who wanted to run and play on the grass but they reacted rudely when they play on grass (non-golf played areas) 6. Different directions from different staff members made our stay very uncomfortable. First day we were shown some areas where we can play with our kids and in one hour later security came and directed us to another location, then again 30 min later another staff member came and said we are not allowed to play in that areas. They talk in rude ways to guests and same thing happened multiple times even following day. Then we raise the matter with management and they were trying to give a free tours manage the mistakes. All we requested is small ground area for our kids to play, but they never able to provide that to us. It was noticed that staff doesn't know which areas are allowed to guests and which areas are for golf players, different directions were given by different staff members which made our stay not comfortable at all.
6. Lot of wild cats and dogs are in the premises, whom freely walks in to room when guests are dining. Since guests are not allowed to be in the restaurant and since these animals are surround the rooms, our dining also was not easy at all. We complained few times and security came and send away animals, but in few min later animals came again and security wasnt there. Finally we decided to share our food with animals and do our dining.
Wanted to write down these issues are specifically coz future guests can inquiry about these issues and find solutions to enjoy their stay. Also, I hope management will look in to these things and improve the conditions coz finally "hospitality" has to be provided for paid guests.
We will never visit this location again but I hope future guests can clarify these issues before book this place.
Despite all bad things, food and room conditions was good.🙂

We deeply regret the incidents that has happened during your stay but appreciate your positive comments about the food and the rooms. At VGCR, safety and security of our staff are of paramount importance. We take every possible steps to ensure that the guests enjoy their stay while being mindful about the safety. A miscued golf ball could end up in seriously injuring someone especially children. Therefore, certain areas may not be accessible from time to time for non golfers and this may be reason why you may have been asked to move. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused in this regard. There are several designated safe areas that we have introduced. Stray dogs are a problem in many areas and for us too. However, as an animal friendly entity, we do try to co exist while ensuring the guests are not troubled. We do have security patrolling the areas to keep the dogs away but food is a natural temptation for the dogs to come close to the property and guests feeding them while in the restaurant and the rooms has not helped us in our efforts in keeping them away. We do work with the authorities as well as an animal welfare organization to ensure that the population is controlled. While we deeply regret the inconvenience caused to you while trying to walk around the resort, we hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you once again to experience the steps we have taken to ensure our guests enjoy the resort as much as the members enjoy VGCR, as we do not discriminate guests under any circumstances. we came for a lunch at first and we went after for a green fee of 9 holes. The lunch with greek salad at starter and one beef for my husband , one noddle for my son and one chicken for me were nice , specially for the service who was really nice. We've all heard the saying - 'feeling home sick'. I for one just couldn't get enough of the the beautiful, scenic and picturesque scenes from this excellent location/ property. The challets were very well kept with the washroom receiving natural light through a skylight strip. Lot of activities for kids and adults alike.
We were taken on a hike to the Araliya Deck by Asela (the Naturalist). Asela being an enthusiastic and knowledgeable person on the subject, made it even more enjoyable and interesting. The food was good and staff were overall courteous. Being a non-golfer, my family and I found this resort to be a great place to unwind, be close to nature and just relax. A truely memorable experience!

Both my daughter and I plus my sister and her hubby stayed in a Twin Chalet over the week end past and we did enjoy our time to the fullest. Ashok has been the runner of the game from Day 1 ensured us stay Happy and contented and food was really great,especially the baker had done a wonderful job. The ground staff were very nice too,cheerful and ensured the Peace we were longing there. It certainly is a Golfer's Retreat and huge bathroom and the chalet combined the indoor outdoor floor strategically and felt like we were having holiday in an Island as it was not as busy as. We certainly wil make another trip one day soon and see you lovely staff soon and keep the Golf lands Green and Clean and it's truly one of the best travel experiences we had out there. The location itself is beautiful with rolling hills, valley and lakes. The golf course is tight and challenging, but the caddies are helpful and friendly.
Sadly, the location, in our experience, was very much let down by service. We were constantly given misinformation about the restaurant, when it was open and what the meals were, resulting in us turning up multiple times, only to find there was a special meal on, or a buffet we needed to buy tickets for. We were ignored when it came to finding a table and seemed to be some sort of afterthought with the waiting staff when it came to drinks or food unless we specifically flagged down the staff with excessive arm waving and vigour.
It was clear that residents and regulars are the priority in our experience which didn't seem necessary considering the number of staff.
A bit of a pity. (and definitely stay away from the pizzas)

What an amazing hiking. very pleasant route w the guide Nirmala Hirantha. He told us lots of interesting facts about flora and fauna of current location, provided nice route to the peak and to the buddhist temple. i recommend to go as early as possible as you can catch the best light beams and comfortable weather for hike!
