We just came back from our 2. Vacation at Vakkaru and before we talk about food, villas etc we have to say thank you to all of the truly amazing staff! There are so many names we could list that made every day memorable and special, but a special thank you to our butler Ikku who once again made our vacation a dream vacation. There where minor changes since our last stay, that made Vakkaru even more perfect. They had a DJ and band playing at night which our baby girl adored (very modern music to our taste). They changed and added the food menu especially at the lagoon bar, so that now you have more variety to choose from. Overall there is nothing that we can think of that needs improvement. The villas are beautiful and always very clean thanks to the housekeeping. Even the pool is cleaned every day. Everyone is always super helpful especially with special requests that we had with our little girl .They made sure we got our food quickly so we can enjoy dinner with our child. They truly made her feel like the little island princess. Especially traveling with a baby we can highly recommend going to Vakkaru since they think of everything (baby bed, diaper trash, baby lotion and shampoo, high chair and even small cutlery). We already miss everyone at Vakkaru; but this is not a goodbye this is a see you soon!

We are a family of 4 (2 teenagers) just returned from a week in 2 water villas on Vakkaru. This is our 3rd and best visit to this beautiful part of the world. From the arrival at Male the attention to detail and client experience was superb. Freshening up in the client lounge was a blessing after a pretty average BA flight and we were swept up in a sea plane for a quick transfer to the resort.

Vakkaru is a stunning paradise. It consists of about 120 villas, half over the water but the island didn't ever feel congested. There are bikes to get around but also golf buggies where needed, There are 5 restaurants with ample choice and the food was consistently delicious and fresh.

The Spa was sublime with a wonderful menu of treatments and we all enjoyed a massage and the facilities including morning yoga with wonderful Anna.

The Splash water centre had something for everyone and the diving was superb. The equipment was top notch and the staff (especially Beatrice) very experienced but that was reflected in the cost charged for the excursions. We were in a group of 3 plus a dive instructor. We were lucky enough to see turtles, sharks, lots of rays and a manta ray on the house reef as well as a plethora of tropical fish! Visibility was good but currents quite strong out in the Atoll. The coral was strikingly heathy, especially the soft coral. The snorkelling on the house reef exceeded our expectations. There was also motorised water sports for those interested (we weren't) and the complementary paddle boards and kayaks were a welcome freebie (as was the snorkelling equipment).

The staff could not have been more hospitable and congenial. We really wanted for nothing and they all made an effort to get to know us and remember our preferences (particularly the breakfast crew). A particular shout out to our butler Guty who made our stay absolutely 5 star, predicating our every whim. Everyone needs a Guty in their lives and we miss him already!

We had a HB package and with hindsight I would seriously consider a FB or even all-inclusive package if available as the drinks/extras do quickly add up. Also, if taking 2 water villas think about having them opposite sides of the pontoon rather than adjacent to get both the sun rise and the sun set.

It really does look like the website photos!

My wife and I decided short notice that we need an escape from the current situation, so 2 PCR test and 13-hour flight later we arrived in paradise.
Vakkaru is a wonderful resort and the service there is amazing.
The bungalow was clean 2 times every day (morning and evening), and always provided more than enough water to stay hydrated the entire day (complementary)
They filter their own water and use glass bottles to reduce plastic waste, which we found amazing.
The cocktails at the 2 bars they have are very delicious and Khairul the bartender is also doing a short cocktail making course where under his instruction you learn to do your own cocktail.
A very nice touch is that you have somebody who is handling all your reservations for dinner or any other activity you want to do and comes with good suggestions for the time you are there. For us Liya did an amazing job, so that we didn't have to think about anything, and we could just relax and enjoy our stay.
All the service in the resort is impeccable and everybody is friendly and attentive.
The only thing we missed was another bar and a shower at Vakku beach where we spent our days in the sun (there is another beach with a bar and shower, but we liked Vakku more).
We will definitely return to Vakkaru!

We spent our 11-night honeymoon at Vakkaru and could not be happier with our choice. While the resort may not be the cheapest, they certainly live up to the price charged and you will not regret choosing Vakkaru.

Everyone gave their best to make our stay perfect. From the first moment of arrival on the island you are made to feel special. A warm welcome upon arrival through seaplane, a personal tour around the island, perfect over-water villa with pool (if possible request sunset view) and nice gestures and surprises throughout our stay.

We especially appreciated the care received from our splended butler Yuliya. Nothing was to big of an ask and often there was not even a need to ask (birthday cake, immigration forms, coconut delivery, inflating air mattress, picking us up for dinner every evening, arranging dinner reservations) as it was already proactively being taken care of.

All members of the staff were excellent. They are extremely friendly, quickly remember your name and make sure that everything is to your liking. We travelled a lot but never experienced such hospitality. We will not be going into (too many) names for fear of forgetting someone. We recommend management to retain them all.

Special thanks also to housekeeping by Madheeh who did a great job with nice decorations and asking if he could help us more.

Plenty more that we can write here but better get out there and experience the experience yourself. We will surely be doing that again soon (a dream come true).

From the second you step into the Vakkaru lounge (waiting for your sea plane to the Island) the warmth & can do attitude from the staff is excellent. When you land on the island, your greeted by the GM Iain McCormack & a selections his wonderful staff. Your perfect holiday experience starts immediately.
Your accommodation is of a fantastic standard & spotless. The choice of restaurants & quality of food & service is 1st class, as are the many in house special events & beach entertainment.
The island itself is Paradise, teaming with wildlife & beauty & the staff take so much pride in keeping the ground,s “tip top”.
Every morning the beaches & paths are raked and any debris removed.
I have never experienced such a happy & content staff. Nothing is any trouble at all & everything is done with a smile & pride. The management team here is second to none, they take care of everything & are always available to help with anything. This whole place felt like a giant family & I can only assume it’s due to the leadership of the incredible GM.
Thank you Iain Mc Cormack & you’re incredible team, for a wonderful experience that I will never forget 🌸

Vakkaru combines the best that the Maldives has to offer with the best the World has to offer in a sublime and seamless fusion.
Vakkaru is a private island paradise covered with coconut palms and surrounded by white beaches and turquoise waters.
The reef is perfect for snorkelling with some of the overwater villas sitting virtually on it. Beyond the reef are some outstanding dive sights and the team at the Vakkaru dive school, called Splash, look after you with great knowledge and professionalism.
The villas, both overwater and beach villas are generously sized and super stylish, with a design that runs throughout the island, including its five excellent restaurants and three bars.
The people who look after you on Vakkaru are extraordinarily kind and helpful. They operate a butler system and ours had an almost telepathic understanding of our every need.
Overall, this really is paradise, without compromise.

We had the pleasure of visiting Vakkaru just after The Maldives opened the islands to the world. We were one of not more than 15 groups at the resort, but that didn't stop the staff from being anything other than hospitable and conscientious of our every need.

Our Butler Sato was thoughtful and considerate to our needs and requests (though we tried to keep them to a minimum). We stayed in a Family Overwater Villa. It was worth every penny extra! The ability to roll off the deck chair after reading Hamilton in to the pool made for an extraordinarily relaxing day.

Each morning, and several evenings, I met up with a few other guests for Yoga at the spa under the considerate, patient, and attentive tutelage of International Yoga Teacher Lami @lamirse. Lami has inspired me to continue practicing as the time spent with her helped me work on grounding and focus. She even helped me perform a headstand! I highly recommend working with her. On the last evening as we were coming wrapping up the session and looking out on the horizon, we were treated to a giant boiling mass of tuna jumping and chasing smaller fish. A lovely way to end the trip.

The Villa was beautiful, spacious, and we never wanted to leave. I have been working on reading the biography of Alexander Hamilton for quite a while only getting a 1/3 of the way through. I nearly completed it in less than 10 days! We received twice daily housekeeping.

Every afternoon I swam including swimming around the whole island and out to the last Villa a couple times (up to two miles). The water was crystal clear and i even got to see a few sharks and a turtle.

The resort has a couple really nice places to snorkel as well and got to see the depth and breadth of tropical life surrounding the atoll.

We were also treated to a private beach movie night with dinner and an in pool private breakfast. Both were memorable experiences

Overall, it was a dream trip that I only hope to repeat again soon!

The Villas are very clean, modern and in good conditions, the beach is perfect on one side a bit less perfect on the other (due to a lot of corals in the sand which you have to get through to get in the water).
All restaurants offer godd food with friendly service.
5 star Hotels in the Maledives are always expensive but here you gte a bigger and nicer room and the service is really amazing.

After beeing locked up all year long back home in Germany my wife and I got very excited that the Maldives were open again for traveling. With the help of Stop Over Reisen we quickly chose Vakkaru as our favorite destination and 2 weeks later we already arrived with our almost two year old son.

After a warm welcome on the island we directly got to know our butler Yvonne for our whole stay. She was very kind and showed us around. She also is very good with kids and our son was happy whenever he saw her.

We then arrived in our beautiful modern beach villa with pool on the sunset side of Vakkaru which was amazing! The interior was put very thoughtful and everything was controllable from an iPad.

There are lots of activities to do on the island. From small games like pool or table tennis at the coconut club to waterskiing, jetski and dolphin or manta tours at splash. Also we always had the opportunity to visit the parrotfish club with our son which was the kids area with a playground and lots of wooden toys and very good babysitters.

One of my personal highlights was the tennis court where the professional tennis player Barbara Bonic freshened up my tennis skills.
It’s also an experience to use the 24h gym at the spa area to do some exercises with the best view!

Vakkaru got 5 different locations to have dinner at. Depending on what you prefer you can enjoy sushi by sunset at the wonderful lagoon bar. Have a freshly fished fish from the reef on the grill at Vakku. Italian food with pizza and pasta was amazing at Isoletta! Asian fans find the perfect spot at Onu. Amaany, which is the breakfast spot, has buffet twice the week. All in all we never had a dinner or lunch or breakfast we did not love!

But besides all the awesome locations and delicious food what made our stay at Vakkaru Resort unforgettable was clearly the staff! We have never before experienced such a warm and kind atmosphere created by the people who daily do their best to make the stay as good as possible. We very quickly decided to extend our stay for another four nights. Yvonne our butler directly put her number in my phone so that we always could ask for help and she was there right away! Furthermore there was the staff at splash and the restaurants who have been so nice with us an especially our son that he learnt their names so quickly that we were very amazed by the process he made on the island. To give a few names we surely won’t ever forget Muxu, Muna, Riya, Otabek, Mohammed, Shaan, Shavy, Chilu, Tennispro Barbara and of course Yvonne <3 If you guys read this - thank you again for everything!!!! We miss you!

We hope to see you again some time!

Lots of love from cold Germany

We just arrived back from a magical place where time stands still. Where our Central Nervous Systems were reset and we didn't have to meditate because being there was a meditation!

We've been all over the planet and this is a world class resort and the way we were treated from the moment we stepped off that seaplane -- well, we knew we were home. The staff, including Ian, the GM, met us at the dock to welcome us. Our personal butler, Iku, ushered us to our room where a spread of delicious fresh food was waiting for us.

Our housekeeper Sinaan, was there as well to introduce himself and he was our personal elf for the week, I'm not sure how/when he came in but everything was always clean and fresh and made up. Every single person treated us in a special way. Our servers, Ibraham & Ammadey became like family to us and we hope to host them in our home someday! The island chef, Driss, catered to our food allergies and made special items for our kids. We are so appreciative of that!!

Shard, at the front desk, was extremely courteous, helpful and a lot of fun. Our family was invited to play volleyball with the locals and they even hosted a tournament on our behalf. The activities director, Ali, even spoiled us on the court. He was so sweet and inclusive to our girls. We met & played with many of the staff including Ivantha, the HR Director and Ivaan whom you must get out of his way if he is hitting the ball. :) My partner on the sidelines was Almaas who, as a leader on Vakkaru somehow find time to come support us. And of course, the Imam. Afeef literally had the best energy, our whole family loves him.

Our activities included a private yoga session with Lami, who was absolutely incredible! And Atman (sp?) was our guide on excursions to see manta and we saw so many dolphins.

About our butler Iku, I can only say this, I teared up when I had to say goodbye. As a mom juggling so much, having someone take care of me and our family for a change was touching and beyond compare. We missed him as soon as we got on our seaplane and every day since. We love you Iku!!

We can't forget the airport staff including Shifaan, who made sure that we were all taken care of and bundled us off to head back home.

WELL DONE. We are blown away, and changed people because of our time on Vakkaru! I'm not kidding. We are changed because of our time on Vakkaru.

I googled the outlets used in Switzerland and found what they look like, but I don't know if I can use them in Vakkaru. The outlets at Vakkaru are the kind of multi-outlet you'd find in a typical international hotel. And there's a USB Type-A connector. This means you can charge it by just a cable (usually the USB connector behind the computer), and I think it can charge 10W. So if you want a fast charge, you'll need to bring a separate charger. If you send me your email address, I can send you a picture of what the outlets look like at Vakkaru.

Hi Stacy, the Vakkaru Resort consumes the full island, so it is not possible to visit other resorts without taking water transportation. That makes it sound big, but we walked around the entire island on the beach in less than 1 hour. We actually stayed 5 days at Vakkaru and 5 days at another resort just for some variety, but once we left, we wished we had stayed. The other resort was about 30 minutes by boat even though it was in the same atoll, and the activities offered were roughly the same. Both resorts we stayed at were extremely safe. There's no one else on the resort islands other than the resort staff and the guests. This is a luxury resort and it's not cheap to get there, so that limits the chances of less scrupulous hotel guests being on-site. The staff are professional and extremely helpful. There is limited nightlife, although it is pretty low-key - more of a beach bar atmosphere than a night club. Drinks at the bar are more our speed so we really didn't go looking for anything else. We also took snorkel gear (I didn't love the thought of using a community snorkel) and used it regularly. The reefs are amazing! We had stopovers in Doha and London en route so, needless to say, we had large/heavy bags. The seaplane has an allowance for carry-on and checked baggage (20kg per checked bag) that are lower than what the commercial international airlines allow. Don't worry they're quite happy to accept your additional luggage and charge you for going over. We paid $70 total for heavy checked bags (they were 50lbs each) and that covered us for the round trip. You pay for them when you check-in for the seaplane. I hope this helps and hope you enjoy your trip!

Hi. Where we stayed the water was around 1 meter deep. There was a blue hole nearby, around 100 meters from the villa which was great for snorkelling. Hope it helps.
