Venturing out to a privately-owned resort called Clark's Cay in Guanaja, Honduras. So excited! The flight from Houston was just 2 1/2 hours. Then, the ferry and boat ride to the island were next. While we had a short wait at the airport, it wasn't a problem. We made the best of it with food, beverages and desserts. Before we knew it, we were heading to the dock to board the ferry. Luckily, we had tickets to sit in the air-conditioned area. Note - for those who might get seasick, I would recommend taking some motion sickness medicine in advance of boarding! After an hour and a half ferry ride, we transferred to the large dive board and headed to the resort. Such a nice welcoming to the resort. We gathered in one of the larger cabanas w/ kitchen for a quick introduction, paper work, any special requests (food items), plans for the week, Wifi, etc. Then, we headed to our cabanas to unpack our dive gear, freshen up before dinner. For dinner (and all of our meals), we sat together under a covered area with our tables and chairs pulled together. It was super picturesque and beautiful. In my heart I already knew this was going to be a great trip. For the next seven days and night, we were simply spoiled by everyone. All of the staff members were super friendly and helpful with any questions or needs. All of meals and snacks were totally delicious and homemade. I really liked how there were daily "chef's specials" for us to try. All of the bread were so soft and fluffy, and the homemade juices and/or drink specials were amazing. My two favorite drinks were the mojito with blackberry juice and the blackberry margarita. Our usual plan after the third dive was to head to the infinity pool or lazy river where you could lounge with your favorite beverage of choice and snack. Can't get any better than that. As for diving, it was super simple. The dive staff took care of everything from set-up in the morning to clean-up after the third dive . Total valet diving. All we needed to do was show up, bring any personal stuff needed for the dives and enjoy. Our group was super small so we had plenty of room and shade on the boat. I learned that all of the sites were buoyed off, which was helpful in tying off the boat to the particular site. Also, the staff takes great pride in protecting the reefs as best as possible. Very important in my book. On our dives there wasn't any current at all, which made the dives nice and relaxing! Most of the sites had beautiful and colorful topography plus cool sealife, especially the small things. If you are into photography, I would bring different lenses or your GoPro. Some of the sealife pointed out by the staff was soooooo small; i.e., pipe fishes, nudibranchs, seahorses, blennies, etc. In all honesty, I don't know how they found them for us. Also, we got to do a night dive which was fun. After that dive, we were treated to a nice hot cup of hot chocolate. Finally, my three favorite dive sites were the Michael Rock Canyon, Jado Tavern (wreck) and Black Rock Caves. Overall, I would highly recommend this beautiful and relaxing resort for your next trip. Even if you're not a diver, there are other activities to do; i.e., kayaking, paddle boarding, photography, playing corn hole, reading, get a massage, visit a sister property called Dunbar Rock, shopping, etc. Also, we got to visit the largest community called Bonacca, which is where many of the locals live. I thoroughly enjoyed going there and hearing about their floating community. Pretty impressive. As a final note, we didn't experience any mosquitos or "no-seeums" on our resort! Not exaggerating at all. Of course, for peace of mind, bring bug spray just in case but you may not need it at all. Wahoo. Had so much fun on this trip. Look forward to coming back in the near future! …
