Marovasa Be is a private oasis on the northwest coast of Madagascar. Set on a pristine beach accessible only by air and sea, this breathtaking retreat is a dream destination for couples, families, or groups of friends. The whole property can also be booked by parties searching for additional exclusivity. Our guests fill their days unwinding by the infinity pool, exploring the magnificent islands by boat, or quietly leaving footprints in the sand. Marovasa Be's story began when French French film producer Charles Gassot stumbled across an untraveled peninsula while exploring Madagascar for film locations. He was instantly taken by the meandering coastline of Moramba Bay and the many Baobabs Amoureux (Baobabs in love) that dot the nearby beaches. Over 10 years Charles developed the property to fulfill his vision of a private paradise. The house now stands as a haven of natural elegance, dedicated to the journeys of those enticed by adventure and the allures of understated luxury. It is the perfect destination for those seeking a quiet escape from the glare and exposure of daily life. In 2016, Charles passed his dream on to us: a small group of partners from New York, London, Cape Town, Cyprus and Madagascar. We promised him that we would cherish Marovasa Be's heritage and share its beauty with friends and other travelers seeking exclusivity and privacy. Charles still visits from time to time, if you’re lucky you might find him enjoying a house-crafted cocktail on the beach. Come and experience paradise realised.

La Marovasa is truly a special place. We had the occasion to visit the resort in celebration of our daughter’s 40th Birthday. And what an occasion it was! The setting of Marovasa is absolute paradise with a gorgeous and serene beach and sunsets that are the most spectacular I’ve seen. The accommodations are truly 5 star quality with no pretense at all. Just blissfully comfortable! Max, the chef, prepares all the food from scratch, including fresh baked breads and pastries daily. Even the fish my husband caught was prepared as ceviche the same evening and was delightful. But truly the staff Makes this property 5 star in my book. The staff did everything possible to meet and anticipate our needs every day. From preparing favorite cocktails to helping with some of our logistical challenges, Veronique and Karl pulled out all the stops to ensure our stay was extraordinary. I highly recommend this very special place on earth and hope that if you have the opportunity to visit this remote corner of the world that you will do so. La Marovasa is truly a once in a lifetime experience we will never forget!

First and foremost, Marovasabe is nothing short of enchanting, a true paradise; my partner and I recently stayed between August 21st - 28th 2019. We arrived by boat from Mahajuna and were greeted by Veronique and Karl who are the newly appointed hotel managers. Freshly made cocktails were waiting for us as we traipsed up the pristine beach towards the hotel with the warmest greeting. We immediately felt at home. The hotel and grounds encapsulate the astounding beauty that Madagascar has to offer. Marovasabe really is the essence of understated luxury, the hotel is rich with history and charm and can be considered a true home away from home. Veronique and Karl made sure that every one of our requests was met with the upmost care and execution. We enjoyed endless activities during our stay: Sea fishing, water skiing, kayaking through the mangroves, visiting the local school and nature spotting (lemurs, birds, chameleons, dolphins, turtles and many more). Veronique, Karl and the staff organised the most wonderful picnic and snorkelling trip on a beautiful beach which was a short boat ride away from the hotel. We cherished many sunsets at Marovasabe which we had the pleasure of enjoying from the many different vantage points dotted around the beautiful hotel grounds along with dinner and an impressive bonfire on the beach. We challenged both Karl and Veronique to a game of pétanque each evening which provided us with endless fun and memories. I had mentioned to Veronique at the beginning of our trip that we would love to find a spot in the grounds to enjoy some star gazing, taking advantage of the remote location and near non-existent light pollution. Veronique’s attentiveness never ceased to amaze us and on our last night, we were amazed to find a bed that was beautifully staged on the beach for us to enjoy the stars; truly memorable. During our travels in Madagascar, it was not easy to find good food. Living in Paris and London, it would be fair to say that we are both, total foodies. At Marovasabe our love for food was finally met by Chef Max and teams cooking . Every meal was a genuine treat. Max’s sorbets (particularly banana and coconut) and ice creams were out of this world. His ceviche and fresh crab salad are two of countless dishes which left us excited for the next delicious meal. Each day we indulged in Chef Max’s freshly baked bread and salted butter, complimented by his homemade papaya, pineapple and combava jams. We are looking forward to tasting his croissants during our next visit. This hotel is a truly unique and tailored experience, in a far away, remote and magical setting. My partner and I have both said since leaving, that despite the undeniable beauty of the property, the eccentric and eclectic interiors, the wonderfully-kept wild grounds and the happy smiling staff; the unforgettable experience at this hotel was down to both Veronique and Karl’s warm, caring, attentive approach to ensuring that we had the most memorable stay. We could not recommend Marovasabe anymore highly and hope that you are able to enjoy this stunning location as much as we did. Very much looking forward to our return. A+L

It was with trepidation that we returned to Marovasa exactly one year after our first visit. How could it possibly live up to the blissful time we had staying there in 2017. Well, it did! Plus it was even more beautiful and idyllic than we remembered. This place has it all - stunning, empty beach; calm, clear waters; the best and friendliest manager ever (Mr Guy Vancans please take a bow!) - nothing was too much trouble for him; lovely staff; elegant architecture; tasteful decor and did we mention the food too? - Max is an incredible chef. We cannot think of a single fault, not one. If you want to get away from it all, be separate from other tourists, ditch the constant whir of generators and air-con (there are none) and just convene with nature and wildlife then this is the place for you. We would also like to make a special mention for the wonderful Mava who looked after us so delightfully. Would go back in a second. In fact we may have to make this an annual trip!

This is the very first time I have been galvanised to write a review of anywhere we've stayed. We have travelled around the globe in search of paradise and this is the only destination which has ticked the boxes in every category. It is hard to know where to begin. Perhaps it is easiest to do things the other way around. If you are looking for uniformed staff, signage, homogeneous rooms, regimented meal times and activities, gold-plated taps, bling accessories and marble this is not the place for you. If, on the other hand, you are searching for off the radar elegance, a feeling of true remoteness, understatedness in all regards then you are getting warm. Marovasa Be is a true eden, incredibly beautiful and without parallel. Everything is so stylish and un-hotelly. Guy is a consummate manager, super-relaxed but always, quietly and without fuss, on top of everything. His team is faultless, Abiba Ali and Moana kept our room pristine and beautiful, Max and Meva produced mouth-watering food on every occasion, Patrick is the pool supremo and Jinery and Rolyce made every boat trip memorable. Marovasa Be totally rocks. It is cool and funky and blissful and completely lacking in a resort, chain-owned feel. Long may it flourish!
