Set on its own private island in the Sulu Sea, Amanpulo is the epitome of a tropical paradise. The resort began its 20th anniversary celebrations in December 2013, enjoying a beautiful, full-capacity festive season, and will continue to mark its anniversary year. Increasing access to Amanpulo, Philippine Airlines has now launched direct flights between London and Manila five times a week. From Manila, guests travel one hour southwest by private plane, landing on Amanpulo's own airstrip. NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS: “We have recently become aware of unauthorised parties claiming to be able to book rooms at Amanpulo on behalf of others at a discounted rate. These parties typically issue fake Amanpulo vouchers to be used for the bookings. Please be aware that these fraudulent parties are not at all associated with Amanpulo and that guests booking through such unauthorised brokers do so at their own risk. We look forward to assisting you in planning your next vacation at Amanpulo.”

Words are not enough to describe Amanpulo. From the Manila Lounge, Airport, Food, Staffs, Beach,Service, Room and Spa everything is perfect. Definitely worth every penny. You have to experience Amanpulo for yourself. They have raised the level of what a resort should be. Highly recommended.

I visited in early July for two nights. I knew it was rainy season so I was not surprised with the partial rain days (though not a total wash out). The best feature of Amanpulo is the island and the beach. The seclusion and privacy are very much appreciated. The food at the Clubhouse, Lagoon Club and Beach Club were excellent, particularly in the first two noted. I attended one of the classes and the instructor was very good. I stayed at Beach Casita 2 - although the casita is spacious and well amenitized, it is in need of upgrading as it it beginning to show its age. It is my first time at an Aman and I expected more - the total experience at Six Senses or Four Seasons Lanai / Sensei were much better. For one, similar to the private plane set up at FS Lanai, the plane utilized had a strong fuel smell inside, which was nauseating being exposed to it for an hour. Secondly, all food outlets we visited had lots of flies. I understand this is part of the natural environment, however, the staff would start setting up candles and fans only after we are seated, when this could have been done earlier. This impacted the total dining experience. Staff were very friendly, but service was inconsistent. The beach towels were not replaced daily and had to call for it. We wanted to attend one of the classes the next morning and was told that they will advise if it would proceed as it was weather dependent. We did not get any update at all and had to call which takes awhile for someone to pick up the phone (there was no timely response on the WhatsApp chat as well). For all the hype with an Aman resort, my expectations were higher.

Let me start by saying overall, Pulo is still the best resort in the whole Philippines. However, unlike our previous Aman visits, the service was NOT impeccable and needs a lot of improvement. First, it's not your usual Aman clean. There was a cockroach in our beach casita, crawling right by the kettle. They didn't clean our room as much as they usually do in an Aman property. They also didn't clean our hammock outside or fix the daybeds outside our casita. The service during breakfast at both the Clubhouse and Beach Club were a bit slow. The service was very inconsistent. At breakfast, the rules in the Clubhouse were completely different from the Beach Club. The waiter at the Beach Club looks like he needs more training. He seemed very flustered and overwhelmed. In fact, I had to ask for high chair multiple times and get my own utensils. He even accidentally bumped my toddler causing her to fall and her lip to bleed. He apologized profusely of course. We were there for our 1st wedding anniversary and all we got was a chocolate cake. Generally, the staff also can't follow simple instructions. They rang the phone during my baby's nap time and she woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. I asked them to just leave certain items outside the casita, but they still rang the bell. I also asked them to sweeten my calamansi juice for me, but they didn't. We also swam at the pool and had to eventually get our own towels as there was no one. In 2 days, they asked for our room number FOUR times. That's unheard of in an Aman property. The most upsetting part was I think their Experiences Coordinator, Jenny Losala, does not know what Aman is all about. I asked to have my lunch at 11am and dinner at 5pm because that's my toddler's schedule and she flat out refused and said that the restaurants are closed. After telling her that we just came from Amangalla, she allowed us to eat anytime. Ridiculous! They also keep threatening to charge extra if you don't check-out at noon, which is ridiculous since the whole island is the resort and it doesn't make sense to not give you the room until your flight. Other resorts allow you the use of your room until your flight time. I don't know why an island resort such as Aman has this policy. I also was attacked by swarms of sand flies and they swelled to giant blisters all over my body. Their insect repellant does NOT work. Do not trust it. I wish they had warned me about their sand fly problem which they claim is endemic to the island. I was itchy for days and could not sleep. With regard to the room, after 30 years, it is indeed old and showing signs of aging and wear, but it still is quite well maintained. I loved the Frette sheets and how they thought of everything for my child - diapers, wipes, a toy, suction plates, etc. Mini bar wasn't inclusive though, unlike other Aman properties. The hand towels feel really cheap for an Aman. The food is definitely the best resort food in the country. If you're expecting privacy though, it's not as private as before. I don't know why. I came here during Holy Week before when it was fully booked and it felt like we were alone in the island. This trip, the crowd was so rowdy. In fact, I couldn't resist, at the risk of sounding offensive, I asked what's wrong with the crowd. I was told that they now accept incentive trips. I usually hear this at Hilton or Marriott, but at Aman? Despite all that, the trip was very relaxing and we will definitely still come back. Especially since with the local rates, it's practically half price, very affordable. The wildlife is amazing too. We saw black tip sharks and giant turtles right by the shore.

I’ve been to this place a few times and the island doesn’t really disappoint. Although I’ve seen the quality of service in this pandemic and I have to say I was a little bit disappointed. The island still holds one of my most favorite views of the country and on top of that we experienced seeing a full rainbow here just this month. But the golf cart on this trip ran out of battery twice and when we replaced it a third time we also had trouble with the third one. Which was quite disappointing. We also noticed that there was more trash on the sand and we were sad that of course it may not be their fault that there is trash on the sand, It was just disappointing to see so much of it. My family and I really love the island but we feel as though with the change of staff this time around they didn’t even remember who we were. In the past years they always greeted us with a warm welcome back but even booking to go to the island this time around wasn’t so easy and it is becoming less and less private and friendly. I’ve seen this island when it felt really exclusive and the food hasn’t changed so much since we came back. Some portions were bigger and in the other restaurant some are served smaller. I think i was just expecting a little more from a well known resort and of course for the price you pay you do expect more quality work. It is still a beautiful place to stay in.

I've been to Amanpulo before. I've also been to Amansara and Amanjiwo during the Zecha era. Staying at an Aman was certainly one of life's most luxurious experiences. Clearly, Amanpulo, which should be one of Aman's shining stars has already become an average resort. I wonder how Zecha truly feels about this. We were supposed to go, but it was a blessing that it got cancelled due to a family emergency. From the numerous emails and phone calls during the booking process, I did not feel any luxury at all. I tried my luck to ask for an upgrade. I did not just get a resounding no, but they kept pushing me to upgrade and spend more. I also received a food menu with all the prices when Aman never used to have prices in their menus. What was the point of this? To let me know how costly their food is? I was also aghast to see that the picnic is a mere bento box. The picnic used to be a full on meal with private waiters. It was very impressive and worth the price. Then came the activity brochure, they literally charge for everything. I think it's so tacky to even charge for kayaks. That's not very luxurious at all. And if you read through it, I don't know why they even include standard Aman activities in there. In fact, when I raised this matter with the owner's staff, the response I got was the "beach is still the same beach. If you feel that way, you can just go to other resorts." Thus, I did. I went to Nay Palad. Then to Pangulasian twice, which is also in Palawan. Then we went to the Maldives, I'll review that later and we're going to Amanoi and Amankila later in the year. To compare two Aman resorts, the booking at Amanoi was excellent. They agreed to double upgrade right away for no reason needed. They also were a step ahead of me in every way possible. The transfers, my baby's needs, flight details, etc. They are also a lot cheaper and the kayaks and other non-motorized activities are complimentary! That's what you call service! Also, I'm all for making it more affordable, but the annual text blasts with discounted rates, credit card promos, installment payments is a business strategy that's quite undignified, especially for an Aman resort. Clearly, it's just an overpriced place for wanna be influencers and stragglers, undeserving of the Aman name.

The resort is very well designed, great architecture that maintains total to date even if opened in the 90s. The charm for us was precisely that the hotel has 30 years but still feels so adapted to current high end resort needs. Please find below pros and cons (the rest you can find in the website): - Cons: 1. High price, which is normal considering the service, location, and exclusivity. 2. Casitas are impecable but could need a total refurbishment (I think they are starting to do so). 3. Check out process was not what excpected and the bill wasnt correct. 4. Expect delays on the plane transfer (both ways). 5. Diving center: could be a bit more welcoming and proactive to adapt to the clients interests. 6. Food at the Clubhouse was not excellent. 7. Breakfast at Beach club was not excellent. 8. Service in Beachclub was slow always. 9. Little complimentary nice activities. 10. Speed Boats should definetively be renewed. We had a problem during a cruise!!! Inaccetable for Aman… + Pros: 1. Stunning island, beach, white powder sand, turqoisde water… Better than Maledives for me. 2. Stunning location in the middle of no touristic area. 3. Very private and exclusiv arrival: private lounge in airport and private airstrip. 4. Very smooth check in. 5. Everything is just impecable and well maintained. 6. Superb architecture and design. 7. Stay at west side of island to avoid wind. 8. Beach casitas 1-10 more secluded and calm waters. 9. Excellend food at dinner in Beachclub. 10. Private and exlusive. 11. Near villages totally out of the beaten track, no tourists at all. Reachable by island hopping tour. 12. Conservation of turtles. 13. Range of activities: diving, island hopping, tennis, kitesurf, gym spa, etc. 14. Amazing Spa (mus visit). 15. Main pool vibe, so so relaxing. 16. Island itself: is not to little to feel trapped and you have your own buggy to explore. 17. Attention to detail. 18. Service. 19. Wildlife. 20. Turtles all arounf the island. All in all an amazing beach resort in the middle of the Phillipines, makes it very very unique.

Terrible sales representative. I find it really difficult to communicate with them. Their hotline doesn’t even work. We booked in Maldives instead. I find it odd that they also advertised the 2pm check in but obviously there is no way guests can check in at that time since the flight they provide is 4pm.

We are celebrating my daughter’s 7th birthday. But it seems like it not special at all. You don’t even prepared something. You even asked us what event are we celebrating. -booked tru online because manila sales office cannot be reached, no one’s answering the call. -bad customer service -tough steak -food is not consistent -no room orientation at all when we arrived at the room -broken beach umbrella hat outside our beach casitas. -broken bathtub -we want to get the fishing for our activity, so we asked the person in charge to us if the water is calm, he said the water is calm and not windy you will enjoy it. Perfect for fishing! Then in the morning at 6am the boat guy said this month is always like this windy and the sea is quite rough. I have a kids who is seasick. Are you guys crazy! Do you know how terrible they feel during the whole time. We are 6 person you only have 2 fishing rods. What do you guys want us to do while waiting for them to catch a fish? After the fishing activity we have to went back, Then the boat guy said we should choose where we want the fish to be cooked before we leaved the boat, and what dish we would want the fish to be cooked. They are pressuring us. how will we know where there’s no one to assists us. --after the trip we want to talk to the person incharge to us, they said that the person incharge for our service is on night shift, so no one can attend in the morning they will call someone instead to attend our needs. For a luxury resort come on! -we already talked to the manager about the schedule next day yet no one knows in the facility. Really?! What a horrible experience! You have to tell them again and again. -My daughter went to the restroom when she came back her food, it was buzzed out already by the waiter. -They have pizza activity for the kids and no one informs us so we can let the kids enjoy the pizza making by the beach. -We also tried their dinner by the beach, we choose the Filipino Bbq, the meat slices for Pork Liempo is so thin. Are you serious? We are paying 240usd per person and I thought I was at a cheap restaurant. The light for beach set up was too dark. -waste of money, a very bad experience, out dated.

Actually it is my 2nd time at this resort. Celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary. Several hassles come up. The RT-PCR test should be done within a 24 hour time frame. Our picnic beach set up got confusing venues that the F&B team failed to notify us. Because of this , the highlight photo of our group amidst the colourful sunset did not materialise. And to think we booked a 10k / pax meal experience. In lieu of this , still appreciate the privacy and exclusivity Amanpulo offered. The beach and marine life was tops . Can compare it with Boracay , Coron , El Nido and even at Balesin . Massage experience got me rejuvenated. Sunset cruise we had was indeed remarkable, but it was cloudy that first day . Dining experiences was worth having. The cuisine we had was really delicious. Kind of liked the wagyu burger served at their beach club. Make no mistake about it though, everything here is expensive. From the food and their private activities. But their people, yes they are service oriented, friendly, typical of the amazing Palawan hospitality I had noticed at many of their noted high end properties. If you want to feel royalty, I guess this it.
