Canvas and Orchids is absolutely fantastic. It took us a while to get there by taxi from Phnom Penh but within minutes of arrival we loved it. The scenery is stunning as are the spacious tents and being able to step off the deck straight into the river is amazing. The staff too are wonderful. Always smiling and happy to help and the food is delicious and well priced. You can choose from a 4 course set menu or there is an A La Carte one too. We did the boat trip to the waterfall which was great and we also kayaked by ourselves around the island. We are so glad we chose Canvas and Orchids. A little bit of paradise with peace and quiet in such a beautiful setting. Thank you Mikey and Lyndsay (Scotland)
Enjoyed relaxing time soaking in the natures. Stunning view from the tent. one of the best places to visit and stay in Cambodia. Staff are friendly and they offer interesting nature tours. Food was good enough. Firefly night tour was also great.
Beg borrow or steal but come here Hidden gem on island called Koh Andet in beautiful clean Tatai River fed by sea currents and the Cardamom Mountains which make it warm and quite buoyant for safe swimming with wondrous views and tweeting of birds and calls of gibbons Step off your pontoon canvas suite onto your private veranda and you can take the steps straight into the river. Vistas of jungle and Cardamoms. We swam loads as it's so safe and clean and no bad currents. There is also a, mangrove opposite and small waterfall where you can kayak. But other kayaking opportunities abound, as we discovered a Pagoda and community centre on the shores very nearby and also a winding channel. You have the waterways to yourself here. A real getaway. Amazing and attentive friendly service. Lovely food, obviously not as cheap as in town but well-priced. And the breakfasts are delicious and generous. You are given coffee and tea and biscuits for your room. The decor is a delight. There is a daily free short evening boattrip to see fireflies and they run a host of excursions. Free fishing rods games, badminton and a collection of good books. The room we had was perfect and luxurious. Wifi cannot be relied on We loved it. I learnt how to relax here.…
Had a brief 2 night stay here and really enjoyed ourself. The staff are all very friendly, the food is delicious and well presented and the floating tents are well appointed. It's so peaceful here, a 20 minute boat ride from the road down the river and into the jungle. The floating tents have everything you need, barring AC which is to be expected. There is a big fan and air cooler though which helps somewhat. Our first night was very humid, but this didn't affect our sleep too much. On our full day there we did the mangrove boat trip, which basically consisted of a long trip down river to some mangroves. There we did a bit of kayaking, had lunch on the boat and had a little swim whilst the boat boys did a bit of fishing!
Our 3 night stay here was definitely one of the highlights of our recent Cambodia trip. The location and tents are just gorgeous and the warmth and friendliness of the staff - nothing is too much trouble - are fabulous! The food was absolutely delicious and to wake up in the morning and find hot water to make tea or coffee with and homemade biscuits outside your door is just lovely! We loved the environmental ethos of the hotel, and the atmosphere of peace and tranquillity is a memory I will treasure forever.
We stayed for 3 nights and could have stayed much longer, Canvas and Orchids is a beautiful, relaxing place to stay and see something of river life in Cambodia. The setting, on an island in middle of the river, either in a floating tent or in the trees just back from the water in a family tent is idyllic. There is nothing else around and, apart from the occasional roar of a long tail boat speeding past it is immensely peaceful. We visisted in the wet season (August) and the resort was very quiet with between 1 and 3 other families staying over our 3 days. This meant that, although we were in a family tent we were given use of the floating tent in front's deck for access to the river. This was great although, when the resort is busy, the lack of river access for the family tents would be annoying. Swimming and kayaking around the island are the staple activities here, as well as just relaxing. The tents themselves are luxurious and it is a long, long way from any other form of camping. Everything is clean and to a very high standard. As mentioned in other reviews there are some really nice touches, such as a flask of hot water left outside the tent in the morning (and brought any other time you ask) to make a morning tea or coffee and the candle lit whilst you are out at dinner to welcome you back to the room. Don't expect fast internet though, you really are in the middle of nowhere and, when we were there, the hotel was unable to accept credit card payments because of this (the website says they do accept CC but worth checking before you arrive to make sure you have an alternative). The staff are brilliant, really helpful, friendly and welcoming. The food is great with a choice of English or Asian breakfast plus toast, fruit, juice, coffee etc all included in the rate. One of our lunches was included in our excursion to the Tatai waterfall (really nice trip but a bit too much water going over it in the wet season to swim there, so we then went to a smaller waterfall for a swim). Dinner was really good, their version of Fish Amok was among the best we had in Cambodia and, considering you really can't go anywhere else, the prices are not unreasonable. We did have a couple of issues with wildlife in our tent, but the staff could not have been more helpful in resolving everything, they really are great. The road journey to get to Canvas and Orchids is a bit of an adventure (around 4 hours from Sihanoukville) on roads that are not there in some places and potholed in others - it looks like there is a continuous effort to patch them up as the rain washes them away! But it really is worth it when you arrive here.…
My friend and I visited Canvas and Orchid in early July. It was wet season so off peak and there were only 1 or 2 other tents occupied by guests. We stayed on a floating tent which was gorgeous and spacious and so was the bathroom. The place is so tranquil and peaceful. Waking up to a gorgeous mountain green view with the river right by our feet was amazing. Being there during the wet season meant the river water right by our tents was more muddy as it flows from the mountains and mud pushed down from the rain. Nonetheless you could still swim in it. But if you kayak (the resort provides Kayaks) to the nearby waterfall you will be able to wade or swim in crystal clear water. Although we were not encouraged to hike (due to the wet season) the staff took us on boat trips to see Fire Flies or bigger waterfalls and they took such great care of us. Just being on a boat out there in the mountains was enjoyable in itself. The Food was delicious! Comparable to a Michelin star restaurant. The staff were so helpful and friendly and made us feel at home. It was a fantastic experience from the booking process to the actual stay. Each and every individual we came across was a pleasure to meet. It is definitely high end Glamping if I can even call it that. Highly recommend for a get away, peaceful break and insight into another part of Cambodia.…
Canvas and Orchids was a tremendous standout of our Cambodia trip! Paolo, Darong and the entire team there made our stay so perfect from start to finish. It was a privilege to spend time with them, enjoy the incredible food and drinks and go on two wonderful excursions - including swimming in a waterfall! This is a unique stay at an eco-resort. I love the fact that they are very conscientious about sustainability, The rooms are HUGE and lovely. They are for sure glamping but what I love most was how light and airy they were when you opened all of the window flaps. So many eco-resorts make you feel like you're staying in a dark wood hut... Not here! The service, food and opportunity to disconnect and relax were 5 stars. The entire staff makes you feel super welcomed and are on hand to ensure your stay is wonderful. And the scenery and seclusion is fantastic.…
We stayed as a family if 4 for 2 nights in an island tent. The entire experience was outstanding. The accommodation was clean, huge and comfortable with some brilliant personal touches, hot flask left outside in the morning to make fresh coffee and candles lit for when you return from dinner. The food and menu choice is outstanding and the staff are so friendly and attentive. We kayaked around the island and visited the small waterfall and swam in the river. simply beautiful we wish we’d stayed longer. The short boat ride to the idyllic location is so peaceful and best way to soak up the beautiful surroundings. Simply amazing stay in the rainforest- a must visit.
Stayed here with family for two nights. It was AMAZING!!!. The family tent was spacious, the food divine and best of all, the staff. Paulo and Bano and others made our trip so relaxing and enjoyable. The Tatai waterfall trip was so beautiful. Truly, a five star destination and service in Cambodia.
