This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Nestled on the idyllic Temae beach, the Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort is often lauded for its stellar location and cleanliness, though attention to detail in some areas could be enhanced. While the staff's friendliness and the opportunity for snorkeling are highlights for many, guests have noted that some amenities and services, especially dining, could benefit from improvement and consistency. The resort's atmosphere is generally found to be cozy and private, yet some travelers express that the value proposition is diminished by the high prices and underwhelming services. Additionally, while rooms are spacious, there are calls for better work amenities and improved privacy.

The staff at the Sofitel Kia Ora on Moorea is great. They couldn’t have been more accommodating and friendly. I have trouble walking any distance and, upon asking, they sent a club car out to our over-water bungalow and took me wherever I wanted to go on the property. We found the food to be unexceptional and expensive but probably not more so than elsewhere. Our bungalow was very nice and well maintained.

After we checked into our overwater bungalow, I stepped out onto the porch, looked down and saw a ray! Wow. The porch also has steps that go directly into the lagoon with wonderful snorkeling. The view of the water and island is also amazing. Other facilities include a small but pretty infinity pool, beach with chairs (very rocky - bring water shoes) and a dive center. They loan you included snorkel equipment for your entire stay. We also did a very nice snorkel trip with them. Personnel at the dive center was super friendly and helpful. So why am I giving this only 4 stars? The food in the onsite restaurant ranged from poor to mediocre and was very expensive. Plus, the service was extremely slow. Also, unfortunately, there are no other restaurants nearby. So if you stay here, plan to reserve in advance and take a taxi to some other island restaurants.

The garden bungalow was perfect. The outdoor shower was my favorite part. The hotel will call restaurants that will pick you up for free to eat. We enjoyed using the kayaks and snorkeling all around. The weather was not the best but we didnt mind and still enjoyed swimming and sitting out by the poo..

We stayed in an overwater luxury bungalow for 4 nights. The location is AMAZING! Terrific snorkeling right outside our door, and fish everywhere under our feet, literally. Truly some of the best snorkeling we’ve seen anywhere in terms of variety of fish and animals. The rooms/bungalows and resort overall are a tad run down - not quite five star criteria though still very nice and comfortable. I had to plead by phone to get them to allow four people in a normally 3-person bungalow. They said no to having a cot as well so I figured our 9-year-old would be bunking with mom and dad, but was pleasantly surprised that they had made up an extra bed after all. All the staff were terrific, from the front desk to the concierge to the restaurant staff, they all went out of their way to solve any problem. We would definitely stay here again.

Our trip didn’t start well since the description on AMEX didn’t match the description of what we thought we had. So we had to pay an 1k for a bungalow over the water but it was worth the money. Highlights are waking up early to see the sunrise from your bungalow, followed by snorkeling. You just jump in the water from your bungalow and enjoy the beauty of the reefs. Great tip is to snorkel around and under the bungalows, you will not be disappointed. The staff members are very attentive and will cater to your needs.

The hotel needs a renovation. This place is beautiful and clean, but the furnitures, the bar and restaurant are a little outdated. There is no gym, 2 yoga sessions a week… The beach is beautiful and staff super friendly. You can snorkel, swim and see the beautiful fish everywhere. Being mosquito repellent…

Loved this little resort! I say little in the best possible way. The rooms were spaced out and it never felt crowded walking around the grounds. We stayed in the "Superior Ocean-View Bungalows" which were individual huts with its own porch that overlooked a coral lagoon and the huts over water rooms. Originally, we had wanted to book a hut over the water, but those rooms were sold out. However, in hindsight, we are happy we got the bungalows instead and would book them again. The huts were spacious and felt private. The huts we had had its own private stone steps that led right into the lagoon a few yard away. We could could snorkel and swim in what seemed like our own private oasis (never saw another guest while we sunbathed in "our yard" in front of the huts. Perhaps our favorite thing to do was to wake up with the roosters at the crack of dawn and watch the sun rise from the small bridge overlooking the resort. Moorea is a relatively small island, so we were able to rent a car and tour the entire island in one day. Moorea is a beautiful tranquil island. The arrival by ferry into Moorea from Tahiti was magical.

This was our first trip to the French Polynesia and this was our first stop. We booked this trip through Venture Tahiti Travel ( highly recommend) and we were met at the airport by one of their representatives and quickly transported to the resort. We were not able to check in until 2:00pm. We were provided very limited information about the resort and the dining opportunities. We passed the time until our room was ready at the pool. We were surprised that our room took so long to become available as the resort was nowhere near capacity. We had to keep checking with the desk for or room status and were informed we would be given first available. When our room was available .we were assigned unit 307, an ocean view bungalow which was a handicapped room. We certainly didn't qualify for handicapped but the extra room in various spots came in handy! The bellboy was a little too quick in explaining how things worked in the room. The view from this bungalow really was restricted as you look at the back of the overwater bungalows. However privacy was great. The grounds of the resort were well maintained. The pool area was pretty but could use some TLC. There was no designated beach area and chairs were scattered in front of the beachfront bungalows so you may want to keep that in mind, your privacy will be limited. Snorkeling from the beach was excellent. Kayaks, snorkeling gear and paddle boards were available free of charge but the peddle boat was an extra fess which surprised us. Breakfast was included in our package and we found it very acceptable with a large variety of options. Dinners were very pricey. We found that tapas at the bar was sufficient for us for dinner. We did do the Polynesian show/buffet, offered on Wednesday and Saturdays, it was extremely pricey for what was provided at the buffet and does not include any beverages including water. The actual show was lame at best with a handful of dancers. The front desk was not even sure what the actual price was but it was approximately $90+ per person. Not worth it! The show is free is you watch from bar area. Service was friendly and the rooms were very clean and spacious. All in all it was an enjoyable start to our Polynesian vacation.

The room was clean and sufficient. The snorkeling is great some of the best my husband has seen. The breakfast buffet was good. I have food allergies and when I told the waiters they still gave me some bread and other things made with egg I found out after the fact. A lot of the staff does not seem happy and are abrupt and business like. We spoke to the restaurant manager as we were leaving and he was very sorry but by then it was too late.
