Nestled on Temae beach, Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort is often praised for its idyllic location and the stunning ambiance of its spacious bungalows and expansive gardens. While many guests appreciate the cleanliness and available amenities like snorkeling and beach access, there are mixed feelings about the service, which ranges from friendly to disorganized. Some travelers find the rooms comfortable yet note issues with privacy and outdated aspects. Additionally, critiques often focus on the resort's value, pointing to overpriced dining and the need for renovation to justify the costs.

Beautiful location, friendly staff, everything you really need is provided. Breakfast is great (the guy who does the eggs is an absolute credit to the hotel) Rooms are beautiful with the comfiest bed ever ! A few areas they can improve upon are - 1. Cushions or bases for the sunbeds - very uncomfortable with just a towel it's a sofitel on the beautiful beach so please invest in some comfort for the guests. 2. Priced in bars for drinks and snacks are silly. People are paying a high amount to stay here, so at least make the drinks and food a little more sensibly priced. 3. Checkout is SLOW so plan ahead it took us almost 40mins in a queue to check out - which is a shame..... the end of the vacation is the bit that sticks so if everything is perfect throughout and then check in is slow and painful it Spilsby the whole experience for some. Otherwise, great place and great staff !!!

We stayed here March 17-24. We had a beachfront bungalow. The resort is very nice. Very lush and clean. Check in was nice. A welcome drink, cool towels and a flower lei. The person at check in was very friendly and informative. Showed us a map of the resort with all the important places. The room was very nice. Roomy and clean. They provided cleaning daily and restocked the towels and mini bar. There is a safe in the room for valuables. The food was great. Breakfast was a buffet with fresh made omelets and fruits and veggies. Staff was very accommodating. Lunch and dinner were served a la carte. We thought the food was very good. Friday night was a Polynesian buffet and a show. The beach was awesome. Snorkeling was great and there was always an open chair. The beach bar was good as well. We would definitely recommend the Sofitel.

We traveled to French Polynesia in Nov with 2 other couples. We visited Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora. While in Moorea we stayed 4 nights at the Sofitel Kia Ora. We had a wonderful experience. Food was good, service was great and resort had a nice beach area for snorkeling. We all stayed in garden bungalows which were very comfortable, large and well appointed. We booked through Costco Travel and elected a 3 course nightly dinner & daily breakfast package. While the food may not have been five star cuisine, it was very good and all service in the restaurants was excellant. We enjoyed their nightly happy hour which did get crowded but was good. After reading some of the negative reviews on Trip Advisor before our trip, we were a little hesitant but once we arrived at resort, we were extremely pleased and would definitely stay at the Sofitel again and would recommend this resort to family and friends.

My favorite thing about this resort was the beach. They had the best beach versus a different different place I had stayed at in Moorea. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a beach bungalow and it was so nice to walk out your door onto the beach and it was just right there. We booked through Pacific for Less and they were absolutely amazing. We told them what we wanted and they made our dreams come true. I almost forgot to mention the breakfast chef he was so amazing. He made us laugh every morning. He had the best personality. We cannot wait to see him each morning.

The first night we checked in the room was hot and fan not working. Maintenance man who only spoke French came but couldn't seem to fix it but my husband who does maintenance work was able to get it going. After dinner we came back to the room and realized fridge was not working and everything in it was warm. Maintenance man came again, looked at it and then had to bring a different fridge to replace it. Our 3rd night we came back to our room and the air conditioner was no longer working. It was 90 degrees in the room and extremely hot with high humidity. Maintenance man came again who only spoke French and fiddled with air conditioner remote but could not make it work. We called the front desk to talk to a manager and they had a woman call us back. She had us move everything at 10 pm to an another overwater bungalo that was smaller and not a superior overwater bungalo like we were originally in and we stayed at there for next 4 nights. The next morning we talked to the manager who offered the Sat night buffet for our trouble but we told him that was already included in our package. We are extremely upset that the vacation for our 10 year anniversary turned into a nightmare where we spent two nights dealing with broken things in our rooms when we should of been relaxing and having fun and spent 4 nights in a smaller bungalo and not the superior one we payed for. We also were extremely disappointed in the dinners where we found most things almost inedible. This ruined our expensive vacation and I would never recommend the Sofitel to anyone!

I visited to enquire about a day pass. I was welcomed to tour and to book at XPF 9000 pp. All employees were polite and accommodating. Resort is well situated on lagoon, near ferry terminal with views of Tahiti. OTW bungalows are comparable to Hilton and slightly better than Manava. WE chose Manava for day pass because of our past experience with them & proximity to our villa, but Sofitel would probably be a better day-pass choice because of lagoon.

I booked my trip through Pacific for Less and they made my trip absolutely PERFECT!! This resort is so beautiful. The beach has so much room, I couldn’t believe how much beach area they have. Stayed in a beach bungalow and it was great. The overlook view of this resort is a postcard photo, don’t miss out on getting your photo. The chef at breakfast, truly makes life wonderful, you can’t help but smile and have a great time when around him. He makes breakfast so much fun everyday.

I want to start by saying I will be giving this resort a 5 star review for the actual “resort” accommodations and service by all staff except the reservation department. But, I need to give a 1 star review to warn others of what happened to us. We visited Mo’orea for 1 week. After contemplating spending $1,500 for one night in an overwater bungalow, we decided to bite the bullet and have our once-in-a-lifetime experience. I booked the bungalow on a Sunday on their website for us to stay Wednesday. I called Monday to ensure we had the confirmation as I was super excited. They assured me we have the confirmation. At 1:00 on Tuesday (day before we check in) , I receive an email saying their system messed up and they are cancelling our room as they have no more overwater bungalows left. I was devastated, as this was the most exciting thing I was looking forward to the entire trip. I called to see what they could do and they said they can put us in a regular bungalow in the jungle. I said that wasn’t going to do. I looked and they had an overwater bungalow open TODAY and asked if we could have that one. She said it wasn’t as nice as the one we rented but that would work. I also said we had paid for a hotel already tonight and could she reimburse us for that. She said yes. We ran back to the hotel, quickly packed and rushed to Sofitel. It was complete stress and really put a wrench in our vacation. We were not compensated anything else from the resort, no special treatment. Had I not come up with a solution to this error, they would have just cancelled our bungalow and went on with their day. I didn’t throw a fit because we were so enamored with the beauty of the resort. So all-in-all it was a great time. But, as a hotel owner myself, this was totally unacceptable and I would have gone OUT of my way to make the guest feel compensated for their screw up. I even asked Lisa, on the phone when we were figuring out all of this if there is some sort of complementary “something” they could do for us for this error. She said “we are already giving you money for your hotel room. Cmon, a complementary $23 drink at minimum would have said a lot. BEWARE they may cancel your room, even after receiving a confirmation AND calling to ensure you have a room.

The snorkeling is great and the water is perfect temperature. The staff, however, is not at all accommodating, especially the manager of the hotel. If you want anything different from what they offer, they will charge you as much as they can. For example, they wanted $500 to extend our stay for an additional 4 hours. Essentially, they wanted to charge us for an entire day. The restaurant staff is also not very fluent in English and they have a very hard time in getting your order right. Overall, this is a very pricey place for what you get. I would not recommend staying here.

As always, the most magnificent resort on Moorea. This is our third March trip to the Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea resort and I must say it gets better each time. This place is beyond amazing. The grounds ate absolutely beautiful, the food is a French/European mixture with some Polynesian flair.
