The view is special. Rooms are beautiful, beds are comfy and the surrounding area is amazing. Having a drink or breakfast on their deck is a perfect end and start to the day. Being in the middle of nowhere, had a little thrill for the chance to meet some wild animals.

An incredible place with views to die for. The rooms were pleasant. The staff were absolutely fantastic and we loved the food too. We went Elephant tracking with Ernest and Joseph, who were brilliant, friendly and informative. They showed us so many things, besides the

This is worth a detour if you are leaving Etosha for Twylfontein. The lodge is set on top of a mountain which over looks a huge wide valley- completely stunning views from your room and the bar. V comfy chalet accommodation and beds. V friendly staff. Let them drive you up if

I love the Grootberg Lodge, it’s such a beautiful place to stay a have a relaxing simplistic few days. The location is divine over looking the valley, the drive up and down are “interesting”, just make sure you select low range and let your 4x4 do the work on tick over. What’s

Stayed for 2 days/nights - wish it could have been longer. Spent our 4th & 5th nights in Namibia here - our luggage was "missing somewhere in transit between Manchester & Windhoek" & was causing us quite a few problems. We had a puncture on the way to Grootberg Lodge (which men

Is the road suitable for a rental car? Also is this a good spot for desert elephant?
If you haven’t got a 4 wd vehicle, then the last half km off the main road is not ok for use. But - the lodge has parking at the foot of the climb up and they will secure your vehicle and transfer yo up the hill. We did elephant tracking with the lodge - a fascinating full day bushwhacking and we finally found 3 let pm. Well worth it but we had a far better and easier desert elephant experience from our stay at Camp Kipwe - this was superb and we saw a group of 22 which we had to ourselves for at least 2 hours. Hope this is of help

We had the most amazing experience at Grootberg. We had a fly/drive tour so travelled 1800km in our two weeks but was worth every km. The staff at Grootberg were wonderful and we did an elephant tracking tour from there and were shown lots of local life. food was fantastic and view with sundowners were stunning. highly recommend

Is it possible to walk freely along the plateau? What free activities are available around the lodge?
you are discouraged from wandering away from the lodge because of potential danger but there is nothing to stop you. You will be told that lions have been seen very close by. The lodge prefer you to take one of their trips. We opted for the Rhino walk which to be honest was a bit disappointing. When we visited in January there had been a drought lasting several years and most of the wildlife has moved or died. There are Rhino there and indeed we found one but the extent of the walk was no more than 30 metres from the truck to the viewing point where a Rhino was stood down below. My first ever Rhino and a wonderful sight but I went on to see more in Etosha and it didn't cost me £250 for two of us to see one either. If the money goes to conservation fair enough but I have my doubts. Grootberg was to me worth a visit but I wouldn't go back for a second one.

Dear Nethaji, June is the beginning of winter and despite the fact that most of the time is very sunny weather, temperatures can drop dramatically sometimes both in the evening and in the early morning. I would suggest to bring something warmer such as jumpers, jackets and long trousers but also summer clothes for the heath of the day. Temperatures can vary form 14 to 30 degrees Celsius during the day. Thank you for choosing Grootberg Lodge and I hope you will have a fantastic time!
