We love South Yarra and when we want that special weekend away usually stay nearby at another Accor property which we truly look forward to an amazing place to stay. The Olsen was OK but really lacked that something special. The bed was acceptable but not super comfortable as you'd expect with a 4 or 5 star property. The meals average and the facilities limited. Bathroom was good but a little small, furnishings were plush and luxurious but that didn't translate to a more comfortable or special stay. Would we stay here again? No. We'd go back across the road to our boutique Accor hotel.
As someone who is vertically challenged, I could barely reach a glass from the upper cupboard. No chance I was reaching the toaster. Breakfast was very slow, given I was staying there for business reasons and needed to get to meetings. Wi-fi worked great.
We were going to the MCG, a special night for my son. We wanted some where in a great location and fairly close as we are from New Zealand. The tram was right out side the hotel. The room had 2 king beds and it had half a kitchen so we could walk across the road to Cole’s have a bite to eat prior to the game then in the morning a fabulous breakfast in the restaurant. Really enjoyed our stay.
A nice hotel in a great spot but overpriced and lacks parking options on a busy part of Melbourne. Rooms are tiny but well appointed. Staff were terrific and helpful even when they were busy. For the price you can get more generous hotel rooms of similar quality.
The room was on one of the higher floors as requested, very clean and spacious. The size of the room exceeded our expectations. The bed was also extremely comfortable. The bathroom and shower were good. The room didn't disappoint in any way.
Parking at the hotel was full but we got a good weekend rate next door. The suite was very clean and spacious. Good sized bathrooms and comfortable beds. Great in-house restaurant and a tram to the city within easy walking. Love the Olsen and had a great stay, as always.
This was not a great experience for us, when booking i booked a double room that could accomodate five adults. the room i choose was a double room for space and privacy. On arrival our sign in form showed only 2 adults were booking in. We move in to another room as the first one was an open plan with very little privacy, we realised that it now only had one bathroom. This bathroom not only had a glass wall but was so small with no space to even rest a toilet bag. This room was so small that our stay with your hotel was not at all what we are used to staying at. I feel your website is misleading as this is advertised as a five star hotel, the rooms are not of the 5 star standard that i have stayed at. Very Disappointing as i was looking forward to staying at the Olsen renown for its art.…
Comfortable for business. WiFi was great. Gym small, pool had alot of leaves, room service was great. I'd rethink for comfort stays, the check in staff were perfunctory and somewhat arrogant.. however this is only a small part of stay.
We booked a suite with two king beds. the room was very spacious and it was a bonus having 2 bathrooms. with covid , there are no mini bar amenties which is a bit inconvenient, but understandable. It saved us from gobbling chips and chocolate that we really didnt need! (woolworths and bottle shop just across road) The parking situation is a bit puzzling. we hired a car and when we got to the hotel we were told there was no room in the carpark and we had to use a public car park down the street. we stayed 5 nights and it would have been good to have access to the hotel car park. im not sure why it was always full but it wasnt ideal. Apart from that, we love the Olsen and often stay here. it is close to lots of amenities, and great restaurants, and shopping. Highly recommend.…
Don’t stay here on a Saturday night if you are longing and looking forward to celebrating a surprise anniversary. Small room, queen size uncomfortable bed and soft pillows with no alternatives offered. Slippers but no robes which was odd. The Spoonbill Restaurant would be a lovely place to enjoy an afternoon drink if you didn’t have to watch a staff member prise chewing gum off with a spoon from under tables and chairs. That certainly makes you feel like dry retching! We perused the dinner menu but sadly we felt it was overpriced and went elsewhere. We then returned to the room after dinner to enjoy the dulcet tones of revved up cars and screaming pedestrian foot traffic below throughout the night and into the wee hours of the morning. Young adults, presumably intoxicated staying on our floor also decided it would be extra fun to talk loudly and slam doors around 3.30am and beyond. Bleary eyed we went down for breakfast and did enjoy the food which was a rare positive. The staff are friendly at reception and in the restaurant which was nice. If you like John Olsen the artist, then you will enjoy the art work in the rooms, hallways and foyer however this is what you are paying for. The brand is more important then the experience or comfort. As an Accor member I kept apologising to my husband for bringing him here. He was less than impressed and we won’t be returning. We have stayed at far better, cheaper Accor hotels. Overall verdict: pretentious, overpriced, underwhelming and not for older couples or romantic nights away.…
