The staff is outstandingly kind and friendly. The food is out of this world and delicious. The setting is serene and the sound of the ocean is always present. The location is pristine and peace inducing and a simple boat ride from PV. I strongly recommend the whale watching if you visit in March

Wonderful eco/rustic resort with super staff and great yoga facilities! Be advised you will have to navigate many steep outdoor stairs daily and that rooms are open to the outside. We have been twice for yoga retreats - the yoga facilities and supplies are top- notch.

I hosted a retreat at the Xinalani and it exceeded my expectations as well as my groups expectations. The staff made us feel like family, the beds and pillows were amazing, the food was so fresh and clean and the variety of yoga studios were an additional treat. The location for everyone to see and hear the sounds of the ocean make it pure magic. We have already booked our next retreat there and will be regulars.

I just returned from a week long yoga retreat. The property is stunning and beautiful! The water, the beach, the staff, the food - all exceeded my expectations. Things to note: - It is an eco resort - emphasis on eco. Read through their website especially the 10 things to know and all the FAQs. - The rooms with AC are cooler and have glass doors between you and the jungle. The rooms without AC are completely open to the jungle. - Keep the floors clear, suitcases up high. You will have insects and little critters in your room and you want to see them right away rather than find them when you pick something up off the floor. - Bring down your mosquito netting and tuck it under your mattress every morning so you can fall into bed worry free at night Things to bring: - Aerosol can of bug spray (not the pump kind) - Yoga shorts, sports bras - Light airy dresses or shorts and an airy top for dinner - Fanny pack or small bag to carry everywhere - Comfy waterproof sandals - Ponytail holders - Sun hat - Large water bottle and electrolytes to add - Clean change of clothes for the airport on your way home - 2 swimsuits and a light cover up Things to leave at home: - Long leggings and layered tops - Pajamas (we slept in our skivvies it was so hot even in the AC room) - Heavy makeup and perfume - Hair tools - Dress shoes Have fun!

Kimi’s knowledge of the land is impressive. He stopped often to tell us about the forest and it’s critters. He’s entertaining and very warm and friendly. It’s a several hour commitment, but as a regular hiker I found it very accesible. I would follow him anywhere just to tap into all his knowledge and enthusiasm!

Kimi took us on a hike of Colotimos Beach and it was amazing! He was very knowledgeable about the entire island which made the trip even more enjoyable! The hike to the beach was stunning, Kimi stopped for us to observe the wildlife. I would recommend the hike!!

Remote location but worth the extra effort to get here. Staff is wonderful and the food is excellent as well. Lots of activities or you can just chill on the remote beach or relax on the premises. It’s a rare gem I’d highly recommend. If you’re into Yoga this is even more perfect for you as they offer it for any level. Make sure you get an air conditioned room though unless you like it muggy. It is the jungle!

Xinalani is a unique eco resort wedged in between the rainforest near Puerto Vallarta and the beautiful clear water private beach below it. The 45 min boat ride from the PV marina takes you not just away from the commercial experience of the main tourist town but also to a more relaxing and pristine atmosphere. The staff especially the check front desk staff like Anahy, dining room folks Luis Fernando and Briseda (who went out of their way to get us the policino -Mexican sugarcane- we loved to go with us!), Paulina, Oscar, the friendly bar and spa staff and the efficient housekeeping staff who got everything just so in the morning cleanups and for evening turndowns, and even the competent porters and boatmen who took us and our luggage back and forth to the airport were so hospitable and friendly with easy smiles and a conscientious manner. The magical aerial yoga class with Gerry on our first morning there left us with a special memory. So did the simple but fun hike through Quimixto village and nearby jungle to the local waterfall. The all inclusive freshly made from scratch mostly plant based meals and fresh local seafood add to the sense of well-being and contentment while you are there. So do the frequent sightings of wildlife including several tropical and sea birds give you a feeling of being close to nature while still living in the comfort of a ecologically friendly resort suite with AC and ocean views and in room hammock swing! Xinalani, we will be back!

It is a great getaway experience where you can choose to unplug or not and still feel totally relaxed because of the nature of the property. Food natural and tasty the call to meals with the shell horn is very cool. A must are the Yoga classes with Jerry and if you have any curiosity about aerial Yoga he is the best person I have found to lead you with care to safety and flight! The other activities are also worth it as well as the spa.

I extensively read reviews here and elsewhere before booking a getaway with my husband. We chose Xinalani for the small, rustic vibe, as we are not into big flashy resorts or party scenes. Another huge factor was their all-inclusive meals centering on plant-based eating, which is extremely rare, as well as daily yoga offerings. The setting is indeed paradise, and our suite (a thatch-roof, open air bungalow) was exactly what we wanted, including a very comfy bed/pillows. Unfortunately, other than breakfast (reliably delicious, with made to order omelettes) we found the food and general hospitality to be outrageously bad. Main dishes were bland, vegetables were barely cooked, there was little spice or seasoning. The bread was stale. The tortilla chips were baked with no salt. We were often mystified by what seemed to be missing. One night we were served "fajitas," but there were literally no tortillas unless you asked for them. Another night was "lasagna" that had no noodles (or even gluten free noodles) in them, just vegetables layered with sauce and optional cheese. We eventually realized that the kitchen seemed to be catering not only to dietary needs (i.e. dairy free, which we are) but to restrictive, weight-loss oriented eating possibly desired by group yoga / fitness/ weight-loss retreats that apparently make the bulk of their clientele. Either that or they are putting out the very minimum in order to maximize profits. We are extremely clean eaters--I don't even eat refined sugar--and we are both lean people with very light appetites compared to the average American diet. But we do not want to starve. I sometimes went to bed hungry. It doesn't matter how beautiful the setting is if this most basic need is not met. They will tell you "just ask" if you want something more, but this creates an uncomfortable dynamic. I often did, but I don't want to ask for basic things like salt, hot sauce, tortillas when fajitas are served, or fresh coffee, all of which were often missing. That's why we paid for an all-inclusive, so we would have what we needed with little effort! To be clear, it wasn't "special requests" that were lacking--it was the basics, and even asking resulted in subpar results. Here's an example: I drink decaf coffee. It was brewed in the morning and then left out at lunch, by which time it would be cold. I politely asked for fresh decaf to be brewed. The employee took my cup and microwaved it. Similarly, on the broader hospitality front, there weren't even washcloths in the bathroom, just two bath towels and two hand towels. While this might not seem relevant, for the sake of validity I want to note that I grew up in poverty. I am not a fancy person with fancy demands. I also worked in the service industry for almost a decade as a server and bartender. I therefore extend a lot of grace to anyone in the service industry. Yet I was stunned by our poor experience and am stunned by the number of rave reviews here. One more thing to know, though this is not a mark against the resort and won't be an issue for everyone, the ocean crashing at night was so loud that I had to sleep with ear plugs, which is not pleasant. Another reviewer here mentioned that, and I underestimated how much it would affect my sleep. I want to note that the three yoga instructors are wonderful, the yoga spaces are gorgeous, and the bartenders were lovely. Dining staff were also very kind, and my critique of the food is not directed at them but at management/owners who presumably set the ground rules for what and how much will be offered. (One bright spot, once again, was the custom omelettes at breakfast, but that's not asking for much!) We paid close to $800 a day for this experience, an enormous splurge for us, and in terms of hospitality it felt like a Super 8 that happens to be in a paradise setting. We got ripped off. Maybe if you come with a group yoga retreat you pay much less and it thus feels like a fair experience for your money. If you just want a relaxing vacation with your partner or a friend, go somewhere else.
