A small pristine place, very romantic and isolated. The only access is by boat. Good food, amazing place. I rested like never before. I still hear the ocean in my ears. Unforgettable vacation. Thanks to all of you guys!

We had an amazing 5 day couples getaway at Xinalani- we surfed, Sup’ed, hiked, yoga, and indulged in amazing meals and such a serene atmosphere. Our eco suite was a bit like “glamping” but better. Would definitely recommend and hope to return!

I came here from Canada for a week over New Years. I was looking for a small, secluded retreat where I could find peace, be active and healthy, and feel safe during the pandemic. Xinalani was amazing for this, and exceeded my expectations. At first I was a bit nervous at first, as most guests dont wear masks, but all of the staff wear them, and I appreciated there efforts. The entire retreat is very clean, even the open air yoga studios did not have a speck of dust, and appeared to be cleaned after every session. The yoga sessions were great: every two days there was a different instructor. I took a surfing lesson, and went surfing a couple times on my own. There is a really consistent left break, and there a local beach houses for surfers. It's not a crowded break, at most there was 20 surfers but that was an unusually popular day because the swells were massive. Usually between 2-6 surfers out there so plenty of waves to catch. Although I am a beginner, the board selection is limited to heavy long boards, and my leash would often disengage due to to the weight of the board. That was my only picky thing here. I was a solo traveler, and met a few other solos here. Everyone is chill, and socialize if they want to, or be alone without feeling pressure. The locals are friendly as well. Next time I need a quiet place to go, I will be coming back here. I had the Deluxe Room, open views to the the ocean. I will probably splurge a little and get a Casita next time because it has an ocean view hottub.

My husband and I were really excited to get away from the kids and we decided to avoid the mega-resorts for ultimate tranquility. Enter the Xinalani. The boat trip and service at the airport with VIP transport was immaculate, they were really helpful as was the boat crew that got us to the resort. Now I have to say that they do warn you that the hotel is "rustic" and a bit "natural", but I have stayed in Eco resorts and beach resorts around the world so this didn't concern me. But I wasn't really prepared for the Heat and mugginess (the resort sits smack dab in the middle of the jungle on the beach) and this enclave gets little to no breeze. So very different from other beach resorts that I have stayed in. Additionally, there is literally no AC in the common areas at all, all the dining spaces are also outside. This means no escape from the critters (which I don't usually mind lizards and such) but also the gnats, flys, and mosquitos. We did choose the highest-priced suite that did have an AC unit, but the roof was thatched and pretty much open to the critters as well. So there was a fair amount of creatures in the room and a few small knats and tiny spiders behind our pillows. Again, I thought well we are in the jungle, so I wiped away the friends on our bed, turned on the AC to try and cool down for a bit. We did have a beautiful view from our balcony/bed and the open shower was cool, and when showering the heat/humidity was not an issue. We decided to go to the bar and get a cold drink and enjoy the view. We were under the impression that the resort was all-inclusive, but I missed the fine print per se. Drinks are not included, or snacks. So we ordered some guacamole and drinks. The drinks were very pricey and had very short poors. I am not a big drinker, so I am usually pretty buzzed after 25-50% of most drinks. I made it through two full drinks, with nada. So really not worth the money. The guac was ok. Service was nice, but took forever and seemed really forced. Dinner time came and we went to the common dining room to be seated, again great views, but still totally open and warm with critters. Well, we thought, at least the food will be good, per the reviews we had here. Not so fast. The food was very sub-par. You would think that a resort sitting on the ocean/jungle would have the freshest ingredients, but this was not the case. The fish was either frozen or way overcooked topped with some sort of canned salsa. Not seasoned at all, not spice or heat, or even a hint of it. In Mexico, I am used to the food being amazing and full of color, freshness, and a little kick. I am a trained cook and it was obvious to me that the chef/cook was either not very good, or this resort was cheaping out on the inclusive meals. I have had way better/fresher/more enjoyable meals in the beachside food stands in Rocky Point. Portions were very small, but they did say that they were not doing buffet because of COVID and that if we wanted more we just had to ask, but I barely got through my portion, it was not worth getting seconds. My husband and I were still trying to make the best of it, besides the views and beach were great, and we were away from our three kiddos, away from politics and COVID news 24/7. However, the price point of this hotel, the lack of culinary investment, the heat/humidity (not their fault ;)), the price of the snacks and drinks, too many bugs in our room. Oh, I forgot to say, that the next am we went to sit in the bar again to take in the view, and a huge earwig crawled out of my purse (must have made himself at home during the night in our room) and bit my right on the hand. Super fun. The first morning there we decided to eat the $ and leave and find somewhere in town to stay for the next two nights. I booked us a room at the American Grand Fiesta, told the front desk that we wanted to check out and get a boat back to town. I have never left a hotel early, I am too conscientious about our travel costs to pay for two rooms, but we left anyway. We told the front desk that it was just a little too GLAMPING for us at this price and that we thought it would be truly all-inclusive. She was gracious and got us a boat back right away. I can say that our stay at the American Grand and later the Hacienda SAn Angel were absolutley amazing. I have review on those as well. Overall: Pros: Location, beach, view and yoga (but you have to be into HOT yoga, as there is no respite from the heat/humidity). the transport company and the boat crew Cons: Location, food quality, service (took long and was a bit forced), lack of inside spaces to relax a bit from the heat and critters, the critters in the room (bugs I love the lizards, they just needed to work harder lol), price. This place really should not be at this price point. We would have stuck it out if the food had been better and the drinks/snacks included. Overall, instead of feeling relaxed and away from it all. We felt a bit jipped and a sense of having to put up with a lot. *keep in mind too, that when you get on/off the boat to come or go, you will have to jump into the water. Not usually a problem I love the water, however, I wasn't prepared to be that wet in my airport clothes **COVID info, this resort had their staff wear masks at all times, the guests did not. Additionally, they did not make cleaning tables and surfaces very apparent. I found out in our stays in the other PV resorts, that this was a huge priorty for those hotels/staff. So much so that you could see them constantly wiping down tables etc, in between guests. Offered a great sense of confidence. This resort did not.

The room was amazing, with only 3 walls, I wondered what that would be like in the evening, but it was fine when the floor to ceiling blinds was put down. I loved the amenities, they provided guests with bug spray, which was a nice added feature. The food was probably the best thing, each breakfast, lunch, and dinner was amazing. I've never stayed at a place where I didn't get bored with the food menu because sometimes it feels like I'm eating the same food over and over. This resort does a great job of making sure that doesn't happen. There's a bar downstairs with pool lounge chairs with a view of the beach and ocean, it was great to hang out there, get a drink during the day. Overall, I would come back. It was tucked away on a separate coast from the main port, so it's only accessible by boat. It made it feel like you were on your own little island. What else could you want with a beachfront view, amazing food, amazing facilities with great service?
